Better and More Balanced Life
The first impression of Tim Wallace, managing broker for the Roberts Brothers West office in Mobile, is that of an academic.
He perfectly paints the picture of a tenured business professor haunting the local halls of South Alabama, Springhill College or the University of Mobile.
From the outside looking in, it seems as if he were fated to fill the role that he currently holds, with a straight and narrow path immaculately planned and flawlessly followed for success.
Not so.
Like most trajectories in adult life, there were many twists and turns he dealt with before arriving inside the plush office surroundings found at the Roberts Brothers flagship office, where we sat to interview for his feature story.
Tim Wallace’s tale is a case study in preparation meeting opportunity, with a dash of destiny sprinkled in at key crossroads.
“I grew up in Chickasaw, went to a small private school called Chickasaw Academy and worked at my dad’s roofing company for several years. Later, he partnered with a real estate broker, and they decided to open a real estate firm in the early 1980s called Wallace and Dean,” Tim said. “Dad wanted everybody in the family to get involved with it, so my wife and I both passed the real estate licensing test.”
He went on to say that his father’s spinoff venture didn’t last exceedingly long, and so after moving away for a decade, living in Atlanta and St. Louis, due to his wife’s job promotions, the couple turned their eyes homeward once again in the early 1990s to start a family.
Upon returning to the Port City, Wallace worked a year at a local music company before diving back into real estate.
“I got my real estate license again in June of 1993, and my daughter India was born Aug. 5, 1993, so it
