Events, Connections & Followings Events, Connections & Followings

It is always awesome to be a part of something that is significant and beneficial to you personally and professionally. We find a lot of satisfaction, gratitude and often profit by being a part of a community.

Most of you know that Real Producers is a national franchise with platforms and top Realtor communities in over 120 US markets. Mobile Bay Real Producers launched in this market in April 2020. Since then, we have worked and endeavored to build a close community made up of the top producing Realtors and your business partners who advertise and support your magazine and social events.

We hosted our most recent private social event on May 1 at the Mercedes-Benz Dealership in Mobile and the feeling of community was extraordinarily strong. You can watch the video recap on our Mobile Bay Real Producers Facebook and on our Instagram Page @MoblieBayRealProducers page to

The banner that is on the front cover of every issue is “Connecting, Elevating, Inspiring” top Realtors. That is our mission.

Who are the members of the community we build?

The top producing Realtors in the market. Those Realtors who have not reached top status are also watching and inquiring about how they can be a member. And the business partners who to a large degree gain most of their business from Realtor referrals and want to develop relationships with you top Realtors and increase the number of referrals. Even if they are already extremely busy and do not think they need to advertise makes no difference. The important thing is that they join the community and support the Realtors who are sending them the line share of their business.

I want to give my sincere thanks to all of you who have become an enthusiastic member of the Mobile Bay Real Producers community. I appreciate your participation and positive feedback. Our community is already big, and I look forward to the excitement and engagement growing stronger.

ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE

Q: WHO RECEIVES THIS MAGAZINE?

A: The top 300 agents in the Mobile Bay Area. We pulled the MLS numbers (by volume) from Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021, in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. We cut the list off at number 300, and the distribution was born. For this year’s list, the minimum production level for our group is $7 million in 2021. The list will reset at the end of 2022 for next year and will continue to update annually.

Q: WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING FEATURED IN THIS MAGAZINE?

A: The process is simple. Every feature you see has first been nominated. You can nominate REALTORS®, agents, affiliates, brokers, owners, or even yourself. Office leaders can also nominate real estate agents. We will consider anyone you bring to our attention because we don’t know everyone’s story, and we need your help to learn more.

A nomination currently looks like this: Email us at robert.orso@realproducersmag.com with the subject line “Nomination: (Name of Nominee)” and explain why you are nominating the individual. Maybe the person has an amazing story that we need to tell, or perhaps someone overcame extreme obstacles, is an exceptional leader, has the best customer service, or gives back to the community in a big way. The next step is an interview with us to ensure a good fit, and then we put the wheels in motion for our writer to conduct an interview and for our photographer to schedule a photo shoot.

Q: WHAT IS THE COST TO FEATURE A REALTOR®, AGENT, OR TEAM?

A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. The feature costs nothing, my friends, so nominate away! We are not a pay-to-play model. We share real stories of Real Producers.

Q: WHO ARE THE PREFERRED PARTNERS?

A: Anyone listed as a preferred partner in the front of the magazine is a part of this community and will have an ad in every issue of the magazine, attend our quarterly events, and be a part of our online community. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One or many of you have recommended every preferred partner you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that you have not vetted and stamped for approval, in a sense. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network for the REALTORS® and agents in the area and for the best affiliates so we can grow stronger together.

Q: HOW CAN I RECOMMEND A PREFERRED PARTNER?

A: If you have a recommendation for a local business that works with top real estate agents, please let us know. Send an email to robert.orso@realproducersmag.com.

HINES KANDY

ALWAYS POTENTIAL FOR MORE

Raised in Panama City, Florida as the oldest of five children and moving to Tallahassee at the age of 15, Real Producers June 2023 featured Top Agent Kandy Hines feels quite at home working around the beaches of Gulf Shores, as part of “The Pro Team” REMAX of Gulf Shores.

real producer Photos by Lisa Deep South Focus Photography

“I moved with my family to Tallahassee, and at 18 went straight into real estate, working in long-term rentals from 1992 to 1997, and getting my real estate license in 1993,” Hines said.

“My first job was as a leasing agent working under a seasoned property manager for a large luxury apartment community in Tallahassee. Mary Brooks hired me and was my mentor. It happened because I was looking for an apartment with move in specials and she offered me a job right away that paid five dollars an hour plus leasing bonuses, which at the time was good pay.” she continued.

Hines quickly moved through the ranks in various positions, from leasing agent to assistant manager to property manager, oftentimes traveling to other developments also owned by the Atlanta-based management company. Her mentor, Mary, suggested that she obtain her real estate license, even though it wasn’t required for the job, because it might help her over the ensuing years to open doors. It was an insightful suggestion.

After achieving a high level of success, an appealing opening presented itself across the state line.

“I had accomplished quite a bit there, and a mutual friend had suggested another opportunity in Gulf Shores at a new beach development. At the time, I had no idea that there were amazing beaches in Alabama. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about Gulf Shores and Orange Beach,” she said.

Once again, Hines was hired immediately. “I met with the owner of Head Companies, which is a local developer out of Point Clear. He offered me a job on the spot to become part of their development team. While there I got my broker’s license and was the rental director during the six years, I worked at The Beach Club. I was part of the development team that helped set up the rental management program for 656 beachfront condominiums that would additionally include the future phases of single-family cottages.” Kandy said.

28 • June 2023 @realproducers
At the time, I had no idea that there were amazing beaches in Alabama. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT GULF SHORES AND ORANGE BEACH.

In 2003 Hines made another significant move, wanting to fully utilize a real estate license held, at that point, for around a decade.

“At that point in time. I really felt like I wanted to do something a little different with my real estate license. I had just gotten married in 2002 to my husband who is a Baldwin County native and grew up in Elberta. He encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and to pursue a real estate career with the knowledge that I had gained over all the years prior.” Kandy said.

“For the first five months, I wasn’t sure that I had made the right decision. Real estate is a lot more complicated than people may realize. It’s multifaceted. There’s a lot of moving parts and it takes a lot of dedication and a lot of hours. I didn’t have a problem with dedication and commitment by any stretch, but it was a huge financial leap and I wanted to be successful. Suddenly, things got busy, and I attribute a lot of that to my team.” she continued.

Expanding her knowledge base, learning and focusing on certain market segments also contributed towards her success.

“I think the biggest change was allowing myself to learn to expand my knowledge about the product that I was trying to sell. My focus has always been condominium and single-family residential sales. That’s what attracted me particularly about condominiums, because I’m a very number driven person.” Hines explained. She went on to say that one of the biggest challenges in real estate is adapting to a mercurial market. When the circumstances change, it’s never a duplicate of a previous experience.

“In 2003, when I was busy selling real estate, I knew there was always the potential for more and that I needed to earn my way and wait my turn. I had to be resilient in a changing market and understand how to adapt to the needs of the consumer.”

Fast forwarding through the market downtown of 2007 to 2009 and beyond, Hines continued innovating, forging a foreclosed property bank relationship that has lasted a decade.

“I’ve felt through the years that expectations have been exceeded on both sides from that unique partnership.” Kandy said.

In 2016 Kandy expanded her horizons again by engaging with fellow Realtors within the Baldwin Realtors Association. “In 2016 I was invited to represent our local association as a board member. I felt that it was my chance to give something back to the community. I eventually moved up the ranks to board president in 2019 and was honored to have been

Mobile Bay Real Producers • 31

recognized as ‘Realtor of the Year’ in 2020. It afforded me an opportunity to learn about our industry from a national perspective.” Hines said.

Other awards Kandy has earned over the years include having her two-person team consistently recognized as ranking among the highest in the state and country for small teams, within the RE/ MAX organization under the mentorship of Dotty Lou and Buzz Farias. Her personal best performing year was recently accomplished in 2021, with almost $30 million in sales. She attributes this to professional practices and the admin support of Samantha Goodson who’s been with “The Pro Team” since 2006.

Kandy concluded her interview with parting words of wisdom for those wanting to pursue her profession. “Align yourself with a mentor that can help you understand, the real estate market in general, promotes personal growth and supports your desire to do the best job that you can. Save up a little bit of money, but don’t be afraid to stop and smell the roses. This profession can be a wonderful journey. It has been for me.”

Miranda MaHarrey

Success with a Servant’s Heart

rising star

When you put good things out into the world around you, they come back in rewarding ways.

That truth is brought to life each day by Miranda Maharrey.

As a REALTOR® with Water’s Edge Realty, Miranda

“I love on my clients. I have a ser vant’s heart, so I like to go above and beyond to make people happy… including preparing closing gift,” Miranda says.

“Social media is a very powerful thing for me, as well. I love reaching people through social media.”

Finding Her New Home Miranda remembers moving to the Eastern Shore when she was just 7 years old, as the youngest of four girls when her father was relocated for his job.

Mobile Bay Real Producers • 35 realproducersmag.com
Photos by Lew Thomas, Adobe House Media Productions

“I went through the Daphne school system and grew up dancing in Fairhope at Creative Outlet. Shortly after high school, I discovered an online women’s boutique.”

Miranda became a model for the company.

“It was one of the first online women’s boutiques and I moved to Auburn for four years. That’s where I met my husband,” she says with a smile. “I moved back home in 2017 and decided to get into real estate in March 2018.”

Early Influences. Lasting Impact.

As Miranda remembers it, the idea of beginning her real estate career popped into her head, though she remembers always loving homes and getting some additional exposure to those through her mother’s work while she was growing up.

“My mom has been a seamstress for nearly 50 years. I grew up going to homes with her to make deliveries of her drapes and bedding,” she says. “I was always enamored with the designs of the homes. I’m no interior designer, but I love to do walk-throughs with my sellers, helping them to style their homes in order to make it ready for the day it goes active.”

Gaining Ground Each Day

Miranda keeps moving forward in her career.

In fact, in 2022, she recorded 18 deals for nearly $7 million in sales volume.

Family Highlights

Away from work, her world is made complete by her family.

She cherishes time with her husband, Josh, and their three children — Easton, Wyatt and Hunter.

In their free time, Miranda and her family lead and active life.

“We juggle baseball, all of our kids activities and the life of real estate on the weekends,” she smiles. “There is always something going on.”

36 • June 2023

When it comes to giving back, Miranda serves on the Board of Directors for Water’s Edge. A portion of their commissions go to Waters Edges charity group which helps the community in a number of ways.

Home Sweet Home A big part of Miranda’s satisfaction in her work comes through the love she has for the community and the area.

“I remember growing up on the Eastern Shore and always enjoying the Jubilee in Daphne,” she recalls.

“Fairhope is near and dear to my heart. Being a part of this community for 25-plus years with so many memories across the Eastern Shore is the main reason I focus on helping the people living or moving to Baldwin County.”

Those who have a chance to work with Miranda appreciate her drive and compassion for the people she serves.

“I love taking care of them. My reputation means everything to me,” Miranda emphasizes.

“I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it wasn’t for the fact that I want to let my clients know how much I care for them and want to see them be successful with their real estate goals.”

FINDING A WAY TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER partner spotlight

Think about all of the plans for building things or making renovations because people thought those ideas were either too costly or couldn’t be done. You may have even encountered some of those situations yourself.

That’s why it is so important to have a partner on your side that you and your clients can turn to … someone who is there to help you find a way to put it all together.

That’s what you get when you team up with Owner Jackson Stopa and All Inclusive Maintenance. He’s also a licensed homebuilder in the state of Alabama.

“I love being able to help create and build people’s visions and dreams within an affordable cost,” Jackson says.

“Most people think they can’t do what they want. Then they call me and we work with them to make it happen. There’s almost no better feeling.”

SUCCEEDING WITH SERVICE

That kind of service seems to come naturally for Jackson. And, in a way, that’s very true. In fact, it was inserted into his DNA by his parents.

Mobile Bay Real Producers • 41 realproducersmag.com
ALL INCLUSIVE MAINTENANCE JACKSON STOPA

“I was raised in customer service. My mom was in real estate and my dad was in the restaurant industry,” he says. “So I had their influence along the way.”

Indeed, Jackson remembers growing up and working with his father in his restaurants. As he came of age, Jackson applied his dedication and work ethic to becoming a competitive video gamer. In fact, he got so good at it, that he traveled across the country competing.

“I played a lot of first-person games, including RPG. In time, I lost a contract deal and needed to get another job paying my bills. So I took over the family’s AIM company that was started by my father to handle repairs for the property management side of the business,” he remembers. “I was gifted a baby to take care of and nurture.”

He did just that. In time, as he continued to gain experience and grow in the business, so did the mix of the work that Jackson does.

As he says, “I always say I can change a light bulb or build a house. For the maintenance company, our description is we do general overall house health. We make sure that we maintain investments. We are an all-inclusive company.”

ALL-AROUND EXCELLENCE

Those who work with Jackson get the benefit of his experience that comes from more than one front in the business. In addition to leading All Inclusive Maintenance, he also manages his own rental properties.

“My mother has been in real estate for 29 years,” he says. “I get a chance to work with all of the investors who have entrusted her who come to me.”

Today, Jackson leads a team of eight in-house employees, along with around 32 preferred vendors.

HIGHLIGHTS AT HOME

Family is something that enriches life for Jackson. He looks forward to time spent with his wife of five years, Gabrielle.

42 • June 2023
I ALWAYS SAY I CAN CHANGE A LIGHT BULB OR BUILD A HOUSE. FOR THE MAINTENANCE COMPANY, OUR DESCRIPTION IS WE DO GENERAL OVERALL HOUSE HEALTH.

IF I HAD A CHANCE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, I WOULD DO IT THE EXACT SAME WAY.

“She has really helped me structure things and holds down the fort,” Jackson says. “Plus, I couldn’t do what I do today without the support of my parents. They have provided a great example that I carry with me in property management, real estate and maintenance.”

A LEADER FOR ALL SEASONS

Away from the maintenance side of his life, Jackson is also a Captain at the Belforest Volunteer Fire Department.

Without a doubt, when you talk with Jackson, it’s easy to see his natural leadership qualities. In fact, he serves as Captain despite being at the fire department for just three years, though through his business, he has led teams for a decade.

It’s an awesome feeling to be able to look back on what you’ve done over a period of time and feel good about where you’ve been and what you’ve been able to achieve along the way.

That definitely holds true for Jackson.

As he says, “If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would do it the exact same way.”

When you are looking for a partner who will work with you and your clients to find a positive way to put plans together, look to Jackson Stopa and All Inclusive Maintenance.

Sessions Elaine

ROBERTS BROTHERS

Ahead of the Curve

“My dad retired and was having health issues in Cullman where it was cold.” Elaine Sessions said to open her Real Producer’s June 2023 Broker in Charge spotlight interview.

“At the time my older brother had a roommate at Livingston University. He got in touch with his uncle who offered our family a place to stay in Grand Bay, with warmer weather, if we helped take care of their farm. We moved down here that summer after I finished eighth grade, and I later met my husband, Al, on the front porch of our house.”

Elaine has always seemed to be ahead of the curve in comparison to her peers.

One of the first examples of this was enrolling early at Livingston University (now known as the University of West Alabama) while still attending high school.

“By the time I was walking through the ceremony with my high school graduating class in 1971, I was already a sophomore in college at Livingston.

To date, she is the only student from Mobile County High School (now known as Alma Bryant) to complete such a feat.

“I was married by the age of 17. My husband graduated from college, and we moved back home. I transferred to the University of South Alabama and finished my undergraduate degree to become a teacher. Ten years later, I earned my master’s degree from South.” Sessions said.

At the age of 20, Elaine was employed at her high school alma mater, teaching students who were nearly the same age.

Elaine’s first foray into a stratospheric career in real estate can be credited to her husband and God. True to form, she achieved success early in a profession that was initially a second job.

“My husband was working on his master’s degree and said I needed to get my real estate license. A local realtor teaching his class had mentioned that husband and wife teams are the best real estate agents. I got it, sold a house right away, liked the pay and thought that it was fun.” Sessions said.

Elaine initially struggled as to whether she wanted to pursue real estate or teaching, until it dawned on her that the careers were complementary.

“If I can sell math to students that don’t want it, I can surely sell a house to somebody who does want it.” Sessions said.

Moving into the 1980’s, Elaine settled in at Old Hickory Realty in Mobile, under the mentorship of owner/broker Herb Reynolds.

“Herb influenced me in many ways. He was a Godly man; my children loved him and called him Grandpa. He encouraged me to constantly better myself, which I did by getting my broker’s license. This was way before people had any kind of continuing education after licensing. I credit a lot of my early success to him.” Elaine said.

“As a schoolteacher, I’d get out at 2:30, pick up the kids, get in the car and they would do their homework while I knocked on doors from place to place. By the time my husband got home, we had covered some good ground. My children learned every Sunday School song and hymn in the car.” Sessions said.

Always an educator, Sessions at once took newer agents under her wing to mentor. After moving to Marie McConnell in 1988, she was appointed their education director.

“I would teach them how to get business, how to fill out the forms and what to say. Post-license training had not been invented yet.” Elaine said.

In the mid 1990’s Sessions and the Marie McConnel ERA office collectively moved ahead of the curve yet again locally, with early technology adoption.

“We used the first fax machine which was cutting edge back then. If somebody was moving into the Mobile area, they would fax us the information. When they arrived, we would hopefully turn them into a customer. It was the beginning of the relocation system.” Sessions said.

Another significant landmark was reached when Elaine retired from teaching after 27 years of work.

“Upon retiring, I looked to see what was around. There was an opportunity to move into what the industry calls a ‘100% company’. We keep all our commissions and pay rent for our desk as independent contractors. It was a new way of doing business that gives the agent more control.” Sessions said.

In 2008 Sessions joined Roberts Brother’s West.

Fast forward to today, after 15 years with the company, and Elaine’s lists of accomplishments, by her team (and individually), border on mythic.

Some examples cited include: $68 million in average sales volume by the Sessions Team, with 298 units sold annually; $12 million in volume produced by Elaine; President’s Circle for 20 consecutive years; Robert’s Brother’s top team and the #1 Top Team in the Southeast for all the Home Services companies; numerous “Rookie of the Year” winners trained under Elaine.

The list goes on.

In true teacher fashion, Elaine concluded her profile with a childhood story about a defining moment in her life which contributed significantly towards her future success.

“It was a cold winter in Greenville, and I was 10 years old. My dad had been through

several heart attacks and was not able to hold a steady job. Mom was uneducated and times were tough. We were renting a house and my dad had gotten permission to cut timber off a neighbor’s nearby property for firewood.” Elaine said.

“I would drag the wood up a hill, which seemed like a million miles away, and just remember being miserable, crying all the way. It was a defining moment for me. I was not going to let my children be in this kind of situation. We were going to do better than this. My children were not going to have to work this hard just to eat, stay warm and survive.” she concluded.

Suffice to say, Elaine’s childhood promise made to herself for a better today, has been well kept.
