4 Common Myths in the Hemp Industry
With all of the hype of hemp extract oil and its benefits, it is not surprising there are a few myths going around. But when it comes to what you put into your body, there should be no room for misinformation. In this article, we will explore 5 common myths that are often misunderstood. 1. Hemp and Marijuana are different names for the same thing = MYTH Hemp is often confused with its relative Marijuana. Both plants are derived from Cannabis Sativa, and indeed, they look and smell the same. Their chemical composition is very similar, but their different breeding creates two fundamental differences:  Marijuana plants are typically cultivated to contain both THC and CBD elements.  Hemp plants are cultivated to contain primarily CBD with its medicinal benefits, and remove most if not all THC.
2. Hemp, hemp oil or hemp products get you high = MYTH Industrial grade hemp is bred to contain primarily medicinal CBD and less than 0.3% THC, which is the compound in marijuana responsible for getting you high. CBD is not psychoactive but includes all of the medicinal properties of Marijuana. So you can rest assured that you are getting all the best, without the high and with no hidden side effects.
3. The More CBD the better the benefits = MYTH A common myth is the more the better, that the higher the dose of CBD, the greater the benefits. Well perhaps for some things, but for CBD, the common phrase couldn’t be further from the truth. Here is why: CBD is biphasic. Meaning, that different dose sizes can result in different effects. For example, a low dose of CBD can offer all the same benefits but also be energizing, while a high dose of CBD can make you sleepy and perhaps even unproductive. Combined with the fact that our bodies don’t build a tolerance to CBD, in fact, some studies suggest that we need less over time to receive similar effects. 4. All CBD oils are the same = MYTH It’s a myth that all CBD is created equal. The market is still largely unregulated, as CBD is still unrecognized by the FDA. This means anyone can make CBD and claim that it is authentic. This is an important myth to understand if you’re interested in using CBD for its medicinal benefits because this means that some products won’t offer the same therapeutic effects as others. To make sure you are getting the best quality CBD, it’s important to make sure that the company offers 3rd party lab testing. SoCo Plant Power has done extensive research and lab results that prove it’s purity, potency, and therapeutic effects. Read more..
