With this in mind, the C&A store built on Schloßstraße in the heart of Berlin-Steglitz back in 1956 will be refurbished and brought up to modern standards starting early 2013. The alterations will create a corner building of imposing presence at the junction of Schloßstraße and Schildhornstraße. The facade will be generously opened towards Schloßstraße and the square in front of the building. In combination with a three-storey, partially glazed extension the forecourt will have a strong link to Schloßstraße. The extension will provide approx. 380 sqm of additional sales floor space. At the front of the square roughly 180 sqm of the ground floor will be divided off. The new tenant, Thoben’s Backwaren, will open a café there. The possibility to also set tables and chairs outside will upgrade the newly created Piazza and make it more vibrant.

In addition to the extension and the re-design of the building the complete shell will be modernised and refurbished to create a both visually and ecologically attractive store in a prominent position in the centre of Berlin-Steglitz.
