Super
human
after all
Models The Supermodel. Impossible measurements, glamorous lifestyles, and designer clothes. They are the embodiment of physical perfection. However their behaviour is not always as flawless as their figures. There are a few ladies who have made statements in fashion, and at the police station.
aomi Campbell managed to rack up ten separate accusations of assault between 1998 and 2008. She has since attended several hours of anger management, performed community service, and paid a modest fine of $4,600 in an effort to redeem herself. British Airways however was less than empathetic to Campbell’s outbursts and banned her from the airline for life. Kate Moss made waves introducing a new controversial look when she began modeling in 1990. In contrast to her modeling rivals she was labeled waif-like due to her lack of curves. Having a reputation for being a party girl, the instigator of heroin chic was inevitably photographed taking cocaine in 2005. The
news scandal was highly publicized and led to her losing contracts with H&M, Burberry and Chanel. Moss spent some time in rehab and spoke out about getting treatment to resolve personal issues. Though perhaps not legally as scandalous, Heidi Klum raised a few eyebrows in 2004. She informed the press that she was having a child fathered by Billionaire Flavio Briatore, who was 23 years her senior. She and Briatore split and she began dating British musician Seal for the duration of her pregnancy. They announced their relationship while Klum was still heavily pregnant with baby Leni, who Seal legally adopted. So it would seem Super Models are human after all – but perhaps not super human.
Mikael D
The models at the Mikael D show created striking images that complemented the bold shapes of the designer’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Hair piled on top of the models’ heads added to the graceful contours of their cheekbones and minimal makeup accentuated their natural beauty. Their colorful, expressive eyes were also a focal point on the runway. With an emphasis on the soft and feminine, some of the models added to the romance by smiling flirtatiously.
Cara Cheung
The models at the Cara Cheung show wore their hair stick straight making them look strong and giving them a slight edge. This was contrasted effectively with bright pink lips that emphasized their femininity. Some of the pieces of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection featured cutouts along the side and the midriff, revealing the models’ sculpted and slender waists.
Runway
Report Toronto Fashion Week Model Review 2013 Stephan Caras
The women modeling the Stephan Caras show appeared Roman-esque crossed with futuristic, due to these two dominant looks of the Spring/ Summer 2014 collection. Their hair was elevated on top creating a lifting and angelic look, with a slightly messy braid swung around to the front. The eye makeup created an ethereal illusion that lengthened the eyes. Some of the shorter pieces looked like they were straight out of the sixties and really accentuated the long legs of the models. The mostly black and white collection features cutouts, high necks, and chokers, giving the models an edgy, yet sexy presence.
Bustle
The men modeling Bustle’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection sported a bit of scruff, looking like the cool guy you will see playing guitar at a bonfire on the beach. Some were holding up cameras, turning the tables on the viewer and adding a particularly playful air. Their toned and slender bodies, together with the beach chic of the designer, gave them the appearance of surfers. The women modeled relaxed and wavy hair, and their glowing skin made them appear as though they had just enjoyed a nice day of sunbathing.
Thomas Balint
The models showcasing Thomas Balint all had one thing in common: mystery. The bohemian look of the all-black Spring/Summer 2014 collection projected an air of the beatnik. These men would not be out of place in a fifties-era New York City bar reading poetry. The designer’s artistic look has the models poised for some paint splattering.

Q 1.Fun and glamorous. First and foremost, I have made some very dear friends through Femme Fatale that I wouldn’t trade for the world. 2. I love how every event we work is always a blast. Femmes sure know how to make work entertaining! Also, being that I study Advertising, I really enjoy the opportunity Femme has given me to represent some huge brand names. 3. Probably the Gelato Cup 2013. IGood weather and good people are an unbeatable combo! 4. Adriana Lima, hands down.
1.I’ve been a promotional model for a few years now, and I have to say that the girls from Femme Fatale are the most down to earth group of girls in the industry. I have built such great relationships with most of them and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We motivate each other rather than compete with each other and each person is able to bring their best self to work at each event which only raises the level of professionalism higher. Each Femme Fatale girl offers and brings something different to the table, that’s why we all get along. Balancing confidence and humility, hard work with a sense of humor is also really important.
