'If winter comes, can spring be far behind?' It is here around the corner with celebrations galore. After a considerably cold winter, the warm sun of spring is finally shining in all its glory, bringing a freshness most awaited. Sprouting shoots and blossoming flowers are here to inspire us to breakout of the winter doldrums. Now is the time again to enjoy the engrossing colours. So, the flamboyant fashion of the coming summer is set to rejuvenate our wardrobe. New colours, trends and clothing are ready to mesmerise fashion lovers this season and we are ready to show you the latest fashion and trends this spring. I am sure that you too will enjoy these new colours and trends. Believe me, life would be more cheerful with these bright colours. The colours of this season are palace blue, lavender, super lemon, salmon rose, fuchsia red, rose dust, slate gray, vibrant green, dark citron and reflective lucite green. The power and the potential of a successful 'Brand' can easily change the perception of many people and I am sure that associates of ModelsnTrends magazine will agree with me on this notion. In pursuance, our associate, Mega Lifesciences has decided to offer complimentary capsules of their natural nutritional supplement 'Glow' capsules to the MnT family of celebrities for two months. A perfect remedy for falling hair and glowing skin, these capsules are very beneficial for health and they are prepared from natural ingredients, which have enriched antioxidants and release toxins from the body. I have been taking these capsules regularly from the last six months and when people ask me about my age I guess, it really works and I remain 25 plus. The cover girl this month is the gorgeous model Sanjana (Montu) Tomar, who was the ‘Femina Miss India 2006’ finalist and ‘Femina Miss Perfect 10’ subtitle holder. In a short span of time, she has made a stronghold in the glamour world. I am sure that she will explore new horizons of success and fame in the imminent years. Meanwhile, dear advisor on my panel Yuri, is busy shooting for the film Kites, which also has Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. After his remarkable performance as Behram Khan in Jodha Akbar, I am quite sure that this time also he will leave an impeccable impression on the audience. Our May 2008's cover girl, Devdutta Banerjee has also completed her acting course from renowned Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher's acting institution and is ready to strike a chord with the tinsel town. My best wishes for these two very talented persons! Ok sweetie, it is time to go. Enjoy the weather ahead and do miss me in those joyous moments. Take care…

f there is one thing, which is constant, it is change and if there is one thing that is best liked being changed, it is fashion; a change, which nobody wants to resist! The theme of our cover page this time was ‘pure fashion’. Sometimes a simple scarf worn differently can make a top look fashionable and sometimes that same scarf can make for a fashionable belt for a simple pair of jeans!
Wonder kid Eric, with his sixth sense on fashion, jazzed up the brocade corset and the ballerina net skirt by Sadan, who has been designing for the last two years and retails from his showroom in New Delhi. The idea was to give the dusky Indian beauty a fashionable ballerina look. While Kajee accentuated the seductive look with dark eyes and highlighted cheekbones, Sanjana was at her expression best. Add to all this, the mastermind Rahul and ...bingo!

The beginning
Christian Dior 2008 ready to wear
The founder of the brand, designer Christian Dior started his remarkable journey to establish his name as the prominent brand of luxury goods, by selling sketches to fashion houses. Soon, this effort converted into designing hats. Surprisingly, his hats were initially more successful than his dresses. Christian Dior was the first to reveal the secrets and mysteries of haute couture. Later on, textile king Marcel Boussac appreciated his work and with him as mentor, Christian launched his own fashion house, which is considered as one of the world's topmost fashion house, till date. The success
His collection was an immediate success and created an opulent clothing style, to contrast the boxy, fabric-conserving shapes of the World War II styles. Popularly known as the 'New look', this collection had rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and a very full skirt to mesmerise fashionistas. It was just what women needed after the austerity and hardship of the war years. Each collection, throughout this period had a theme such as classic suits, ballerina-length skirts, the H-line, A-line and Y-line, to allure the contemporary women.

According to Dior, “Women are most fascinating between the ages of 35 and 40, after they have won a few races and know how to pace themselves. Since women never-ever cross this tender age of 40, this fascination can continue indefinitely.” Following this philosophy and through the brand's beauty, he was able to
win many a hearts, with his exclusive designs. The collection revolutionised women's dresses and re-established Paris, as the centre of the fashion world, after the war.

Style speciality The look of his first collection conjured fabrics, lined predominantly with percale, boned bustier-style bodices, hip padding, waspwaisted corsets and petticoats that made Dior dresses flare out from the waist, giving its models a very curvaceous form. The hem of the skirt was very flattering on the calves and ankles, creating a beautiful silhouette. Initially, women protested because Christian's designs covered up their legs, which they had not been used to, because of the previous limitations of fabric. Dior Fall-Winter 2008 . 2009

Dior was the pioneer, when it came to the business of fashion. He started the trend of license agreements for his business deals. He realised it earlier that the road to get a global name passes through international market and diverse products. Therefore, he arranged licensed production of furs, socks, ties, perfumes, and clothing in regionally separate production centres, to spread his brand name rapidly. When the first
Christian Dior fragrance, ‘Miss Dior’ was launched, he declared, "A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting."

Not only this, he hired Yves Saint Laurent as an assistant, who became the head designer of his fashion house after his death. Saint Laurent introduced the famous trapeze dress in his first collection for the house. After him, several renowned designers took over the House of Dior until 1990, when the luxury goods manufacturer, LMVH (Möet Hennessey Luis Vuitton) bought it. Since then, the English designer John Galliano has been the chief designer of the fashion house. Galliano, as Dior's successor, creates an equally feminine style, blending today's freedom of expression with the reminiscence of past opulence.

Current status
The renowned fashion house has been taken over by Europe's biggest luxury products manufacturer, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) and the new merger company is called Christian Dior S.A. This new entity holds 42% of the LVMH assets and is the holding company for the fashion brands, such as Christian Dior Couture, Kenzo, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, and Louis Vuitton. It added skincare to its mix in 2006. Clothing is exclusively sold in the Dior stores. Other retailers only carry licensed Dior products, such as eyewear, lingerie, ties, perfumes and other accessories. Dior is now reducing the number of its licenses and also the franchise arrangements in order to regain control over Dior products. Today, Christian Dior operates more than 200 boutiques worldwide, with plans to open more.

Product Division Interesting facts about Dior: • Designer Christian Dior had almost single-handedly restored Paris, as the capital of the fashion world. • When World War II began, Christian Dior served as an officer till France surrendered. • Several marketing surveys have shown that Dior brand is the most widely recognised brand in top fashion, to date. • When a US company offered to buy the rights to produce Dior stockings, Christian Dior refused the payment and negotiated a percentage fee based on the sales generated. Thus, he introduced the ‘royalty payment system’ for fashion products. • Designer Christian Dior was habitually nervous. He felt too shy to bow in front of his audience at the end of his show. • He refused to meet any man, who was not wearing a tie. • He was so superstitious that he consulted his tarot card reader before every major decision. Every collection that he made, included a coat called the 'Granville', named after his birthplace and at least one model wore a bunch of his favourite flower, lily of this valley. • In contrast to Chanel, Dior established a romantic and very feminine look, which emphasised luxury, rather than comfort. •Christian Dior also faced resentment, due to the amount of fabrics used by him in a single dress or suit. During a photoshoot in Paris market, the brand's models were attacked by female vendors, over the great abundance of fabrics in their dresses.

From designing fashion garments and interiors to concepts and chocolates, this royal blood of Rajasthan has to his credit, a fashion label, which stands proudly on the global map. A man of extraordinary abilities when it comes to creativity, Raghavendra Rathore, is our World Class Indian Designer this month, writes Kiran Chopra.

The Royal Heritage
He has to his background 1200 years of ancestry of the royal blood of Rajasthan, which makes him the man he is today. Having grown up in a lifestyle, which echoes luxury and opulence in the highest of volumes, Rathore has to his advantage the creativity, which has acted as a catalyst to what he is today, a designer par excellence and a connoisseur of art. With the kind of exposure that Raghavendra Rathore has got, in terms of education, work and lifestyle, he has played it to a maximum advantage. When it comes to his designing skills, he infuses a traditional touch to the modern contemporary designs that he creates not just in garments but, almost in everything that comes close by, be it furniture, garments, chocolates or of late mobile accessories!
“
Concept and product designing for every form of lifestyle appeals to me. Designer Raghavendra Rathore
” International exposure
Mixing old-fashioned workmanship with modern aplomb, Rathore finds newer, subtler ways to evoke the spirit of a by-gone age, with a fresher approach. Splitting time between home in Jodhpur and work, he is always on the move, working on assignments and projects all around the globe. Working in various mediums such as ‘Lifestyle & home’, ‘Interior & furnishing design’, ‘Outdoor iron & wood furniture design’, ‘Fashion design’ and now gourmet products, he works towards setting newer standards in the design frontier.

athore studied at the Parsons School of Design, New York, one of the topmost institutions, which teaches design skills. After his graduation in 1992, Rathore’s extraordinary design abilities were instrumental in getting him a job at the Donna Karan studio in Manhattan. A brief stint with DKNY, sports division as an assistant designer and Rathore’s next big leap was with the high design atelier of Oscar de la Renta, the Dominican-born designer, who created waves in the fashion market way back in 1965 with his ready-to-wear collection. Apparently, Rathore was the youngest designer at the atelier, churning out some 70 sketches a day and it was his fetish to occasionally try out a new design by draping it on the house models, who were always standing by. His designs were soon noticed by every fashion eye on the 7th avenue circuit (the fashion avenue of Manhattan, which boasts of almost all the high fashion brands showroom present there). Soon Oscar De La Renta took over as the head designer at the couture house of Peirre Balmain in Paris, which ultimately resulted in Rathore getting the exposure at the heart of world’s fashion capital. After satiating his creative experience and design knowledge at the international front, Rathore steered his energies on the domestic front by launching his own label ‘Rathore’, in India. It has been more than a decade now that Rathore has been coming out with exclusive design concepts that work globally.

alking about the Bollywood connections of this royal blood of Jodhpur, he has designed some exclusive outfits for the Vidhu Vinod Chopra movie Eklavya, the storyline of which was based on Rajasthan only. In fact, Raghavendra also designed the outfits for Amitabh Bachchan’s stint with KBC in 2002. He has also designed the Omega Ad outfit for Shahrukh Khan.

Rathore’s clients from the hospitality industry include, The Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur - a Taj Hotel; Samode Haveli & Palace, Rajasthan and The Park Hotel, Chennai. Rathore’s regular label goes by the name of ‘Rathore Jodhpur’, which was his first label in 1994 and specialises in designing traditional and contemporary clothes for both men and women. However, Rathore’s forte is menswear. ‘Blue Mantra’, a new brand that caters to all the stylish needs of the modern women, is designed by Raghavendra Rathore and crafted with fashionable styling and superb sense of design. It is India’s first label from a top fashion house for the masses. Superbly styled and designed at the Raghavendra Rathore fashion atelier, the ‘Blue Mantra’ line of products emphasises the practicality of design for the mass market, making it fashionable and affordable.
The label that says...
Rathore Jodhpur
athore is proud of the values and ethics that he has got in legacy from the royal family of Jodhpur and he flaunts them unvaryingly, wherever he is. A diehard Indian to the core and an international brand in business is what makes Rathore a name, which is much sought after.
Talking about why he chose ‘Rathore Jodhpur’ as his fashion label he says,
significant choice for my label because I draw inspiration from that region. Rajasthan forms the essence of my designs". 22

am lucky to have met many girls from different family backgrounds in my job. There are girls who have broken away from cult families, where religion is the beginning of the end. When I talk to them, they are so far away from religiosity that it gives me faith that we are our own masters. No family or society can instil any permanent lifestyle than what we allow it for ourselves. There are so many people in life who do not want to choose for themselves, simply because it is safer to follow a path that is chosen by their parents. For a profession that is
not so frivolous, it is nice to see the young girls fearlessly breaking the ageold norms of society.
For what it is worth, India and the people I work with are more humane but there exist these choreographers, who believe in using their bum -chums for high profile shows, with complete nonchalance. There vindictiveness goes to another level when they drop good models, to replace them with their not-so-model-like friends. The mediocrity that these kinds of people create in this industry is avoidable. So, when you see ugly models at a show next time, just look for the choreographer.
Azara, DFW ‘09
My entry into modelling always reminds me as to how much one can achieve, if one's mind is open
24
I do believe that India is a great country for a model to work. There is never a question of going for castings from dawn until dusk to get one job, which is the case in Europe and U.S.A. However, the money that you can earn in Europe and U.S.A. is considerably higher and the professionalism the industry offers there is worth the hard work. There is no question of favouritism or bitchiness. A model is chosen solely, if she fits their requirement for a job.

to challenges. When I started of, I did not know the basics nor did I have a godfather or mother figure, to guide me through. I made choices but I made them knowing that I have to be responsible for these. I did not suck up to anyone to get jobs. When I was dropped from shoots for the photographer’s favourite lay of the month, I didn't balk or retreat on my ethics. I stayed strong. I look at young girls today, all of them in a hurry to super achieve. Somewhere down the road, maybe when it is too late, they'll wonder what went wrong.
Some of the new girls on the ramp today have skin that would remind one of a toad. All those humps and bumps just show how little they take care of themselves. Being a
model is like being an example of beauty and fashion for the rest of the world. If the example itself is so messed up, what is the message that we are sending? So

girls and boys, if you want to become a super-achiever, start with looking at yourself in the mirror every morning. Do you like what you see? If there is one thing that you should blow money on, let it be your face moisturizer and cleanser.
Fashion magazines are a great read once in a while, especially when they introduce quaint stores, which would otherwise go unnoticed. Using it like a bible to follow trends is a big mistake. Create you own individual style. Personal style is much better than globally defined styles. The basics of fashion can be learnt from magazines, like not caking your face with make up, or highlighting just one area of your face (either eyes, lips or cheeks), or not wearing stockings during summer. Designers themselves did make these faux pas during the fashion weeks that just got over. So, it is easily forgivable when you do it. The first rule of individual style is to be confident and comfortable in what you wear. Adjusting and readjusting your garment in public is a no-no. Use sticky tapes, when tops have a tendency to slip of your shoulder. Then again, if your top does fall off, show off those boobs. Who cares..! Write to Tinu at tinu@modelsntrends.com

How did you prepare yourself for the Ponds Femina Miss India 2006 contest?
It was a matter of chance. I love glamour, so I went with the flow and did quite well for myself while winning the ‘Miss Perfect 10’ title.
What was on your mind while preparing for the contest?
No stress at all, just a little bit of taking care of my skin and body and going through the daily newspapers. I was hell bent on having fun while relishing the experience.
How are the beauty contests advantageous for a model?
No doubt, it is a great help. It gives you visibility and at once puts you on the right platform.
What is your advice for the coming aspirants of the contest?
Be focused and most important, never lose yourself because each one of us is unique and that has to shine. Besides, know what you want and do not ever take your body or skin for granted.
Your entry into this glamorous world How did you work on your I.Q. as the of modelling was pre-planned or contest is a mix of beauty and brains? happened by chance? I love reading so that helped a lot. I was more keen on getting in touch with my inner self and being myself.
How did you tone up your beauty and body for the contest? The regular workout and thankfully, I am blessed with balanced genes.
A mixture of both. Actually, I always loved glamour so it did not come as a surprise to me.
What was your parents' reaction on your decision to become a model? Did they help you? Of course, they were very supportive and have always

helped me throughout. They are my strong emotional support system.
Who else helped you to achieve your goal in the industry?
Lots of people around me. All my close friends, my family and everyone in a way helped me.
Apart from modelling, what else do you wish to do in your life?
I have always been intrigued by photography, so you never know I might do just that.
What is the best thing, which you like about your profession?
The fact that I am paid to look great and represent myself in so many different avatars.
What is the worst thing about it?
The erratic working hours and the stress, which makes it difficult to keep all your relationships alive.
Do you think that a parallel career option is necessary for models?
Definitely, like any other profession and anyways, we are all capable of doing so many different things.
Which has been the most interesting campaign done by you till date? Well, everything till now. Whatever I have done, it has been really interesting and fun for me.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you, thanks to your profession? Lots of travelling. I just love it.
What is the one thing, which you feel like changing about this glamorous industry?
Nothing much actually, I feel that the fashion industry is beautiful in its imperfection.
Who shot your first portfolio? Rahul Dutta.
What is the hottest thing about you?
My ability to fit into any dress and to look gorgeous. Just kidding, I leave that to people's discretion.
What according to you is the most important thing to keep in mind while getting your portfolio clicked?
Be ready mentally and physically and consult someone from
the industry, who can help you to choose the right photographer.
Who was your childhood crush? And now? My childhood crush.. hmmm..
Who do you think is the ultimate fashion diva and why?
It will have to be a combo of Dita Von Teese and Edie Sedgwick. Dita defines Hollywood glamour like none other and Edie makes everything on this planet look cool.
A fashion tip, which you think really works:
A great pair of stilettos will never cheat you and don't try to be somebody that you are not.
What are your future plans? Would you like to join Bollywood like other models?

MS CONGENIALITY:
THE FINAL CHALLENGE OF BEING CONGENIAL
Being Too Serious Can Drive You Crazy My favourite question to my friends is, “Are you having fun yet?” The reason I ask this is that most of the world is not having fun yet, and it is unlikely that they would be having fun anytime in the near future! My definition of fun would probably be the same as yours. I would just add a new perspective.
The first thing about having fun is the ability to laugh at you.
Show me a human being who has never done a silly mistake and I’ll show you a monkey that doesn’t eat bananas. Everyone has fallen on a slippery floor, dropped a glass in a party, or made a social faux pas sometimes in their lives but they would never admit it. They didn’t laugh at that wonderfully funny thing because they were too embarrassed about it. They were embarrassed about it because it happened to them. Had it happened to someone else, they would have enjoyed it! Similarly, most people get teased very easily. If someone makes fun of him or her, they don’t take too kindly to it and immediately start thinking of a counter retort or revenge. To learn how to laugh at yourself, do this exercise. Every once in a while sit down with friends and narrate to each other your most embarrassing moments in life. Don’t stop yourself. Come out with experiences where you felt like total idiots, and when your friends laugh at you, join in the laughter. This exercise liberates you from

The importance that you give to yourself and your image is good, but being too serious about yourself will bog you down. Approaching your life with a non-serious attitude gives you a clearheaded view of difficulties and the energy to deal with them. Problems are easier to solve, people are more cooperative and you feel more relaxed.
s

the excessive self-importance that is restricting your self-confidence. When you accept yourself as an ordinary mortal that makes mistakes but is also capable of achieving many things, your self-esteem and confidence shoots up.
There are some other aspects of having fun in life.
Be creative, stop following all the rules. If you obey all the rules you will miss out on all the fun. Now, this does not mean that you break the rules that the pageant management has laid down for you. Interpret this advice in a fun, non-rebellious way and you will find that there is a lot of opportunity in life to have fun while staying within accepted norms.
Another favourite question that I ask is, “When was the last time you did something for the first time?” Seek out
and get some adventure in life. Try new things once in a while. Don’t say no to something just because you have never tried it or experienced it earlier. Here’s another tip. Whenever you face a situation where someone does something to make you angry, try and wait for 10 seconds before you react. I’m not asking you to count up to 10 in these seconds. Instead, I will ask you to remind yourself of a magic mantra. And the mantra is that ‘Five years later, that incident will no longer seem important to you, in fact, you will not even remember it.” Remind yourself of this mantra in those 10 seconds and see how your reaction to any potentially explosive situation changes for the better.
Next issue we shall talk of more stuff to get you ready for that Miss India crown. In the mean time, answer this month’s simple question and win yourself 3 free one-on-one training sessions with me. It’ll help you on your way to the crown. Plus it’s easy because the answer to the question lies somewhere in this article.
And finally, the biggest myth of all: "People will think I'm important if I act serious all the time." Yet getting serious creates problems: stress, worry, anxiety, emotional pain, drudgery and failure. Resolving problems by getting more serious is like fixing a computer with a hammer. The harder you try, the worse the problem becomes. So lighten up, get yourself a sense of humour, learn to laugh at yourself, and get a life. You will find that you are suddenly more acceptable by those around you and will score high on the Ms Congeniality vote.
These along with the six in previous issues were the Seven Challenges of Congeniality.
The Question: If someone makes fun of you, immediately say something equally harsh, otherwise he will think that you are a weak person. (True or False?)
Shoot off your answer to yuri@modelsntrends.com. The lucky winner will be notified by e-mail.

n today’s career-oriented world, your appearance really counts. In fact, a large number of career avenues have opened up in recent times, where an attractive appearance is a decided advantage. Amongst these are the front office and public relations jobs, as well as those in the hotel, tourism and fashion industries. Women have stepped into spheres like entertainment and media, television anchors and newsreaders. A
I
well-groomed and attractive appearance actually boosts the selfconfidence, which is a very essential quality today.
Looking after the appearance entails various aspects. Amongst these are regular skin care, hair care, exercise, relaxation and tending to small details, like paying attention to the hands, feet and seeing that every detail of grooming is taken care of. This means that efficient time-
management is extremely important.
Most working women feel that they are always rushing against the clock, tending to the needs of their home and family, getting to work on time and then making a significant contribution to their careers. But daily skin and hair care actually take only a few minutes of your time. It is mainly a question of managing the time at your disposal and planning your daily activities in a way, which leaves you some time for yourself. One way of tackling this is to get up half an hour early. This also means going to sleep half an hour early. You will be amazed at the difference that this can make to your life. You can utilise these 30 minutes to do exercises, or go
for a 15-minute brisk walk. The remaining 15 minutes can be devoted to beauty care.
Every working woman values her Sunday, or weekly day of rest. Your family is bound to claim a major share of your holiday, but you must ensure that you keep enough time for yourself, to catch up with your beauty needs. Shahnaz Husain

Sunday Beauty
Tips: •Your bath or shower water should not be too cold or too hot. Give your body a scrub with a loofah or sponge. This helps to stimulate the skin and remove dead cells, leaving the body thoroughly cleansed. Pay special attention to areas, where the skin is hard, such as elbow, knees and feet. If you have dry skin, use glycerine soap. Baby soap is also gentle on the skin. •After drying the body, apply a moisturising lotion, while the skin is still damp. This helps to seal in moisture. •You can also use your Sunday to give yourself a manicure or touch-up your nail polish on finger and toe nails. •Use your Sunday to apply a facemask and while it is drying, soak cotton wool pads in chilled rose water and apply over the eyelids. Lie down and relax for 20 minutes. 42

Luxury pre-bath massage:
Add a few drops of essential oil of rose or sandalwood to sesame seed (til) oil. Did you
know that the aroma of rose and sandalwood actually helps to calm the nerves and induce relaxation? You can also use olive oil or sesame seed (til) oil.
Give your arms, legs and body a good massage, paying attention to elbows and knees. Use circular strokes on the shoulders, elbows and wrists. Stroke down the muscles of the inner arms and then upwards on the back of the arms in a smooth movement. Massage in large circles over the whole front of the body using the palms of the hands, moving upwards and outwards from the centre. Use circular strokes for the abdomen. Apply oil to the whole leg, stroking upwards. Using both hands, massage down the front of the legs from knee to ankle and then upward at the back of the legs, from ankle to back of knees.
After the massage, rest for a while. You can utilise this time to soak your feet in warm water, which is also very relaxing. First remove old nail varnish, if necessary. Add a little shampoo and salt to the water before soaking the feet. Let them soak this way for 10 to 15 minutes and then scrub them with a loofah. Use a soft nail
brush to clean the nails and scrub the heels with a pumice stone or heel scrubber. If you have someone to do this for you at home, there is nothing like it.

Luxury bath options You can try one of these bath additives. Some of these can remove fatigue, while others replace oils or relieve itching. Select one according to your need. A bath, which leaves your body soft, smooth and perfumed, can make you feel really good. Honey bath: Add two tablespoons of honey to a bucket of bath water. It is said to induce relaxation and leave your skin soft and moist. Vinegar: Add two tablespoons of vinegar. This helps to relieve itching. Eau de cologne: Adding a few drops of cologne makes you feel cool and leaves the body fragrant. Rose oil: Add 2 or 3 drops of essential oil of rose to a bucket of bathing water. This also leaves the body fragrant and soothes the nerves. Sandalwood oil: 2 to 3 drops of essential oil of sandalwood can also be added. It is also said to calm the nerves, apart from leaving the body perfumed. Almond oil: Add one tablespoon almond oil to your bath water, if you have a dry skin. Powdered milk: Add powdered milk to the bath water. It is also good for dry skin. Epsom salts: If the water is hard, try adding one tablespoon of Epsom salts to the bath water. Exfoliation (scrub): For a body scrub, mix rice powder and almond meal with yoghurt and add a pinch of turmeric. Apply and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rub gently on the skin with circular movements. Wash it off. Body massage oil: Add fragrance to oil and derive aromatherapy benefits from it. To 50 ml olive oil or sesame seed oil, add 8 drops of essential oil. Choose any one of the essential oils from rose, lavender, neroli, jasmine, lotus, etc. Essential oils should always be diluted. After bath body lotion: Mix together 100 ml rose water with onetablespoon pure glycerine. Keep in a bottle with a lid. Body and facemask: Mix ripe papaya pulp with two parts honey, two parts yoghurt, two parts powdered dried orange peel, lemon peel and 3 parts oatmeal. Apply on face, body and wash it off after half an hour. Mix liquid ingredients gradually to get the right consistency. Beauty bundle for bath: An ideal way of using natural ingredients is to tie ingredients in a clean cloth, wet slightly and then rub the cloth bag on the skin. You can use besan, oatmeal, dry and ground mint leaves, rose petals, almond meal and a little turmeric powder. FEBRUARY 2009 Models Trends 43

hair care
Tender Loving CARE one winters and the chilly breeze leaves you shivering and exhausted. The mercury keeps dropping and it seems as if winter will reign forever. Worst is, the dry skin that this seasons leaves behind.
G Model: Ferena Wazeir (Courtesy: Bling Entertainment Solutions)
This is the time though, when you need to be extra cautious about your hair and skin. There are two basic reasons, which are a matter of deep concern, especially after winters. So, you have to be very particular about your hair and skin care routine.
Extreme cold weather hampers your hair growth and cause damage. Hair changes its texture in accordance with the change in health, weather, as well as the mental and physical status. So, be prepared and follow a proper hair regime, which will offset any adverse problem. Skin also becomes sensitive after winters. You have to maintain a constant level of hydration. The rough weather wrecks havoc on the complexion, making it lifeless and dull.
A proper moisturising routine should be followed to revitalize and re-hydrate the skin. Sunscreen is a must during this season to avoid the UV rays. Exercise is also essential for a glowing skin, hair growth and healthy body. It elevates blood circulation and increases perspiration, which further induces secretion of sweat to spell out toxins from the body.
Once the winters are over, you need to be extra cautious about your hair and skin. 56

• The basic requisite for a healthy scalp is cleanliness and stimulation but over shampooing should be avoided, as it removes all traces of natural oil. This causes dandruff, which is a very common problem in winters and the prime cause of excessive hair loss.
• Do not wash your hair with hot water as it aggravates the sebaceous glands, which in turn, produce excess oil, making the hair become greasy much more quickly.
•To restore the lustre, conditioner or hair serum is essential after every hair wash.
• To prevent dryness, oil massage is recommended once a week with any natural lukewarm oil followed by a hot towel treatment.
• For dandruff, apply olive oil mixed with a few drops of ginger juice for about one hour and then shampoo.
• Normally, people complain about dry and dull hair after winters. To avoid this, always apply hair serum before going out.
• Last but not the least, avoid fried stuff and take atleast 8 to 12 glasses of water every day to flush out toxins from the body.
Follow up this routine and let people admire you.

Bag me, baby.…. It was the legendary fashion icon Coco Chanel, who added the strings to a purse, thus giving fashion one of its most important accessories of today. And it was the French high fashion house, Hermès', which introduced the first leather handbag thus giving ideas to hi-fi fashion brands, such as Fendi, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Christian Dior to design exquisite styles of handbags, writes Raahul Sharma
T
he high-priced designer handbags were coined as ‘It-Bags’ or ‘Hobos’, which soon became the ultimate status symbol for women. Further, films and fashion world celebrities enhanced the charm of these handbags through their lifestyles. Though it is fashionable to carry a handbag, the criterion is always comfort when it comes to buying one. Despite the passage of time the stylish designs, luxury labels, exclusive craftsmanship and high prices of these handbags have made women of all ages desire them as ‘a fashion item to die for’. In the globalised era, the craze for women handbags is surging except this time, despite the presence of lavish high fashion brands, some affordable brands like Hidesign, Baggit, Da Milano, Mandarina Duck, Kipling, Carlton London and many more are playing their cards well to get a bigger pie. These brands are also perhaps giving the same satisfaction in terms of looks and styles, through their seasonal collections. Hidesign, India’s answer to global high fashion brands, is enthusiastically rubbing shoulders with the international fashion idols in the segment. After joining hands with Louis Vuitton, the brand is expecting higher growth rate in the imminent years. According to Dilip Kapur, president, Hidesign, “The brand has been accepted internationally as it is an original product and not a copy, the way it is being done by other brands. It enunciates a unique language through its designs.” Da Milano Rs.5995/-

Surprisingly, Mr. Kapur never thought that the brand will be such a remarkable success. “No, not at all. It just started as a hobby, which expressed my creativity and a desire to express what I thought should be a natural product, instead of the uniformly flat and synthetic looking products, which I saw in the market.” With emphasis on vegetable tanned leathers and solid brass, the brand’s bags and other fashion accessories are well-synchronised to the latest designs and trends. “In the emerging markets, we see the greatest growth for Hidesign,” says Mr. Kapur proudly. Mr. Kapur’s assessment is not a moonshine as India is one of the emerging markets, which is channelised by the fashion enthusiastic customers, especially working women, who now love stylish handbags and not jholas. However, getting the heavy-priced designer handbags are not a piece of cake for everyone. Explains Kim Virk, GM, Carlton London, “The prices of designer handbags have been rising rapidly for the last several years and the handbag market is also facing intense competition from other accessories like jewellery and watches.

However, we feel that the sales of handbags are is increasing gradually.” Therefore, the brand is looking forward to bring London fashionable high street bags to India. In sync with Kim, Nina Lekhi, owner of Baggit brand is also optimistic about the growth of her brand’s handbags as the strength of working and professional women, who are ‘image-conscious’ is gradually rising. “My brand represents a genre of women, who deem bags as an integral part of their singular style statement. Though we follow trends, yet our bags are a blend of comfort and style.” Her brand caters to a large segment of women from college going teenagers to professionals to formal social engagements. Increasing accessibility by adding more stores in metros. Nina feels, “Several people identify with the brand as we do not use leather. Killing animals is not a fashion requirement.” No doubt, stylish designs and innovations are a vital part of these brands to lure their core customers. and winter in fashionable styles, colours and finishes. We also have women bags made of fur, reptile prints and genuine Italian leather, which give a new dimension to our range every season." Similarly, Italian fashion brand, Mandarina Duck’s Manpreet Gurli emphasises, “Our brand’s forte is the trendy and durable women bags, which are available in various eye-catching designs and colours.” According to Mr. Gurli, “The growth of the Indian market is fairly aggressive, where women handbags are one of the key accessories, which are driving the fashion world.” Though the presence of fakes and replicas in the local markets is the biggest problem for these brands yet Jayshree Chowdhury, Business Head of Kipling is sure that her brand of women’s casual bags maintains its uniqueness, season after season. “Kipling is no more just a brown or black leather bag,” reveals Jayshree. The brand has its design house in Belgium, which works full time on ensuring that their designs follow international trends and maintain their functionality and durability. According to Jayshree, “We aim at women from all walks of life and all age groups, who want bags to match not just each outfit but also every occasion and dare to experiment with new fabrics and looks.” The brand-mania gripped consumers are becoming more demanding, therefore, now the handbags are more colourful and highly decorated with sequins, beads, tassels or embroidery. Apart from eco-friendly nurtured leather, the imported faux skin is the budding penchant of the fashionable women. “The choice is wide enough, so whatever you select, it should match your personality and mood,” suggests Nina. Friends are forever…
T
The mindset of people vis-a-vis relationships is changing and developing exemplary relationships, where platonic relationship is the frontrunner. But is it really possible to keep the friendship platonic?
he 80’s movie, When Harry Met Sally and the recently launched flick, Jab We Met have one thing in common. It is the journey of these movies’ characters to discover how two persons of the opposite sex, who are nurtured in different backgrounds, discover one reason to be friends. This concept makes way for a bond implanted by platonic friendship. A platonic friendship brings unknown people of opposite sex nearer and binds them with the strong thread of friendship, without any romantic interest. These people share their laugh, sorrow, agony, ambitions and emotions to develop a lifelong amity. But is it really possibly for men and women to be just friends forever? Does platonic love really exist in today’s world? What is more important, being lovers or being friends? What are the challenges to maintain the cross-gender friendship? These are some key queries, which we often face. Nowadays, people of the opposite sex are discovering new common ground and more reasons to be friends. Since the films and TV serials constantly show male-female friendship evolving into a romantic relationship, many are convinced that a long-term, truly platonic friendship between individuals of the opposite sex, is not possible. Recently 62

released movie Jaane Tu…. Yaa Jaane Na and UTV’s Sun Yaar Chill Mar serial, persuade the audience about this theory. Though romantic interest, physical attraction and sometimes, the jealousy of significant others can threaten to sabotage a cross-gender friendship, yet some people swear by the possibility of a lifelong man and woman friendship. It purely depends upon the perspective through which they look at their relationship. Explains Sonia Rana, a PR executive, “I believe that it depends on the mental maturity and will-power of the individuals involved. In successful relationships, platonic love is the rule and not an exception. There are quite a few people, who are in platonic love; for many reasons unexplained. A romantic relationship spells love and commitment, sexual relationship is self-explanatory and friendly feelings have no motives attached.” In this urbanised era, both males and females are unfettering themselves from the orthodox ethics. The intemperance of ‘live-in’ culture has boosted this trend. So, platonic love or friendship is not an exceptional trait. Corrects TV actress, Amita Chandekar, “The view point of our society about men and women being just friends, has changed drastically. People have come to accept the fact that

Platonic relationships and friendships have their own place. I think that nowadays one can easily distinguish between the two because it is not rocket science. It is not true that a man and a woman cannot be friends, of course they can be. Both have their own importance and place. -- Shamita Singha, model
Platonic love really exists and we have all experienced it at some point of time in our lives. Those who have not, I must say they are missing out on sweet romance!!! One’s feelings are a cocktail and mix of all of the below three. So it is difficult to be able to distinguish. • Romantic feelings are when you have those funny feelings in your stomach! • Sexual feelings are what you feel when your feelings are lustful!!! • Friendship is what survives and goes beyond romantic and sexual relationships! -- Nina Manuel, model and anchor
platonic friendship does exist. It would be wrong to say that if a man and woman are friends, then there is definitely something more, which is bound to happen.” Love and friendship are the two natural and valuable things in human life. Both are related to each other but are dissimilar in nature. According to famous American TV host and media moghul, Oprah Winfrey, “Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” This appraisal impels a person to indulge further with another person as none can resist such a natural urge. “It is possible that an attraction or romantic feeling develops from both the sides or at times from just one side, but then it is not a must. So it cannot be generalised. In case, one wants to distinguish between romantic sexual and friendly feelings, it depends on the individual and the situation. Some may be very clear about their own feelings and some may not. It differs from person to person. When you talk about one's feelings and emotions, there is no set rule,” adds Amita. For an individual, love and friendship are both necessary and vital, as sometimes one feels hesitant to reveal one’s feeling to
his or her loved one. That is the time when he or she needs a neutral person to comprehend and to console. It is a watershed in everyone’s life to implant a certain fondness for him or her. Author and script writer, Smita Jain relates this to fantasy. “If you exclude fantasy from the definition of platonic love and then pose the question to men, you may get very interesting answers. In my opinion, romantic and sexual feelings are one and the same. Perhaps, one may precede the other but they both invariably converge. As to how one can distinguish between friendly and sexual feelings, the answer is simple. If two people like each other but feel no compulsion to tear off each other’s clothes, the feelings are friendly.” With the passage of time, love fades but friendship remains intact. The biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something. They try to find someone who is going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way that a relationship can last is if we see our relationship as a place that we visit to give, and not visit to take. This is the sine qua non of a long lasting platonic friendship.
Few steps to keep your friendship platonic forever:
Define your relation ship as a friendship from the start.
Any sexual impressi on or connotation can ruin your friendship forever. Do not touch or tal k to the person incongruously. Do not treat your female friend as your beloved. Avoid taking her for a shopping spree. Keep tha t reserved only for your girlfriend or you r wife. Respect the feelings and opinions of your platonic gir l friend. Do not undermine her intelli gence. Let her participate in genera l conversational topics. Be respectful to eac h other. Avoid being in a situation or a position, which can compro mise your friendship later on. Keep your feelings in check. Keep contact casual, conver sations short, and get-togethers bri ef.

Ikebana is more than just arranging the flowers. It brings humanity and nature together. It is a catalyst of expression to appreciate beauty and the ever-changing natural world. This change is depicted strikingly in the styles of flowerarrangements. The Japanese technique of flower arrangement uses material, which have life (since it is about life). For instance leaves, branches, grass, flowers and twigs. The structure of Japanese flower arrangement is based on scalene triangle, where three points are usually joined by twigs, which represent either ‘heaven’, ‘earth’ and ‘men’, or ‘sun’, ‘moon’ and ‘earth’, respectively. Some people say that it has its origin in China, and the Chinese monks transferred it to the Japanese, who have over the years improvised it. It

Beauty at its Best
kebana, also known as ‘Kado’, is a Japanese art of arranging flowers. It is not something new to the world and has a history of almost six hundred years. Ikebana is the art of arranging flowers thematically and aesthetically. It is one of the ways to acknowledge the beauty and to feel it. Flowers always captivate the senses through beauty and fragrances. There is a famous Chinese proverb, which accentuates the significance of the art. “When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other.”

Valeria, a qualified artist and teacher gives Ikebana lessons in Auroville, Tamil Nadu, South India. Classes can be in Italian, English or Japanese.
Ikebana is Japanese art of flower arrangement 15 million people in Japan practice this art
There are over 3000 Ikebana schools. Ikenobo, Sogetsu and Ohra are the most popular schools
is said that with the introduction of Buddhism in Japan, Ikebana found its foothold there. The people worshipped Buddha and made offerings on the altar in his honour. The first student and teacher of this art form were mainly Buddhist priests and with emerging time, now it is one of the customs of the Japanese society.
Ikebana is also connected to spirituality. It relaxes and soothes the mind and offers an opportunity to observe the wonderful things around us serenely. It teaches us to appreciate nature, makes us unruffled and fills our life with tranquility. Over the years, Ikebana has changed towards more delight and ecstasy. The basic principle is the same, however, the form keeps shifting. Let us have a brief look at some of Ikebana styles.
Rikka: It has a tall upright central stem with two short stems accompanying. It prevailed during Momoyama period (1560-1600) in Japan. It includes seven branches representing hills, waterfalls, valleys and other objects of nature. It was used for decorating castles. Chabana: It was introduced with the advent of a tea ceremony. The tea ceremony rooms and places of formal meetings were adorned with Chabana style. Nageire: Nageire is a non-structured design, which comprises of tight bundles of stems to form a triangular three-branched asymmetrical arrangement. Seika or Shoka: It has three main branches, which represent ‘ten’ (heaven), ‘chi’ (earth) and ‘jin’ (man).
The other common styles are ‘Moribana’ and ‘Nagaire’. ‘Moribana’ means piled-up-flowers, where flowers are arranged in a shallow vase or basket. Moribana is secured on ‘Kenzen’ or needle point holders, also known as ‘metal frogs’. In ‘Nagaire’ style, flowers are arranged in narrow mouthed tall containers. It does not use metal frogs to hold the flowers. ‘Ogasra ryu’ and ‘Sogestu’ are the schools of thought that impart education about floral arrangement. It is widely believed that if you have a command over Ikebana, you can preside over the science of communication and develop the ability to read the minds of people. Nowadays, it is no more restricted to flowers only. People have started using unconventional materials like pebbles, vase and pool of water in the arrangements. The profound art has touched people all over the world and with the passage of time, Japanese have realized that the best way of sustaining the art is to share it with people. It is a creative art and can blossom only if there are different perspectives. And this is the best way to flourish the art as the best of anything can be extracted only by sharing it.

Business manager to a model and now a shining Bollywood star. What say?
The journey from being a model to an actor has been great so far. It has been an upward learning curve. However, I have miles to go, as I want to be known as a brilliant actor.
Were you sure in your heart that you will win the Grasim Mr. India title, 2003? How did you feel when you won the title?
I always give my 100% to whatever I do. I was determined to leave no stones unturned to prepare myself for Mr. Grasim India title. At that point, my only motive was winning the title, therefore I gave it my best shot. It was definitely an overwhelming experience.

According to you, what is the best thing that has happened to you in the industry?
Being a part of the modelling industry, it was a wonderful experience. I couldn’t have asked for more when I got the opportunity to play the main lead in Vikram Bhatt’s film 1920. It was the best thing, which happened to me. My performance being appreciated by the industry was another satisfactory experience for me.
Which one is easier - walking a ramp or acting in a movie?
Walking on a ramp is a one take, whereas acting gives you an opportunity for a retake. I believe that whatever you do, you should enjoy it. I like both mediums, so it would be unfair to make a comparison. Needless to say, I just love being in front of the camera.
People often believe that a good model is not a good actor.
It is a myth, as a lot of models have now made a mark in Bollywood and proved themselves as an actor. In a year or two, this belief would no longer exist.
What is the current project that you are working on?
I am currently working for a movie called, Phhir, directed by Girish Dhamija, which is written and produced by Vikram Bhatt. We have finished shooting for 50 percent of the film in New Castle, U.K.
You are an activist of the PETA campaign. How do you feel that you can make a difference?
I love animals and am a pure vegetarian. Whenever I come to know or see someone treating animals unethically, I try and do my best to stop it. When PETA approached me for the campaign, I instantly said yes. If every individual attempts to make a slight difference, it can lead to a change.
It is learnt that you are scared of the dark, then how did you manage yourself in a horror film?
I would like to correct you here. I was scared of the dark in my early childhood days, which lasted till the 4th standard. When I learned the Hanuman Chalisa in the 4th standard and began reciting it regularly, I felt the difference. Since then, I am not scared of the dark.

Wishes are unlimited, and I have a long list too (smiles). I loved the performance of Shahrukh Khan in the film Veer

I love my work, work hard and enjoy even harder.
Who is your ideal personality?
Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and late Indira Gandhi.
If God appears in front of you and asks you to list
down three wishes, what would they be?
If I get a chance to list down three wishes, I would first ask for peace in the world; having my life partner Pallavi as my love and life partner in every birth and happiness for my family and friends.
What is the next move of your career? I have signed three more films and these will be announced shortly.
Where do you want to see yourself in the next 10 years?
No one can predict what will happen in another 10 years, though whatever I am doing, the aim would be to give my best. This should lead me to reach a top level and be the best.
Your worst moment in life?
I move on in case things are not fine. So, I do not think about it now.
How do you like to spend your leisure time?
I love watching films, dining with my family and friends, playing board games or enjoy a small vacation.
How will you define fashion?
It may sound clichéd, but fashion is what you are comfortable in.
What would you ban as a fashion police? I will leave that for the fashion police.
What’s your style mantra for dressing?
Crisp shirt with jeans or jackets but the bottom line is, comfort.
A fashion tip that you think really works? Whenever in doubt, wear black.
What is your strongest point? My determination and faith in God.
What is your weakest point? It is only for me to know and work on it.
What is your advice to the budding models?
Dream big, learn and grow. Be sure of what you are doing. Remember that the strongest muscle in your body is your mind. So if you think you can, u can.

hese lines depict the inner soul of a single person. Being single is no more a taboo. In fact, many feel that it is a blessing in disguise. The trend is catching up fast in India, where more and more celebrities are on the vanguard. The marrying age has shifted from early 20's to 30's. For celebrities, it may go even higher as, for them, career is the utmost priority.
There is a pool of celebrities who prefer to be single. Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Sushmita Sen, Rekha, Simi Grewal, Preeti Zinta, Rani Mukherjee are a few names on the horizon. Being single is in vogue, especially in higher societies. The prime reason being that we have only one life

and we ache to live it the way we want. As we are the pilots of our lives, we are free to drive it in the direction of our choice, without anyone's meddling or interference. When one is in a relationship, especially
in marriage, there are so many commitments and compromises to abide by. Being single keeps you at bay. For a celebrity, lack of time leaves much to be
desired and any relation, be it a mother, spouse, or daughter-in-law, needs lots of time and attention. Being single, seems to be a boon for a celebrity for better management of their existing life structure.
“
Marriage is important in life. It does not matter how we depict our independent life, but ultimately we need a life partner, who can share all our odds and ends.
Sometimes, an earlier experience of a breakup dissuades a celebrity to enter into a new relationship, while some contend that they can get ample time to focus on their work by remaining unattached. Some
celebrities prefer living alone, overwhelmed by their instincts; the workaholic-kinds especially don't want anyone to impede their work. They find relationship
distracting. As such, without compromising with their career, they prefer to remain single. Celebrities want to unfetter themselves to any bond and yearn for a place, where they can be just what they want to be.

I consider marriage as an important aspect of life. It is quintessential to grow up well in terms of family.

Of late women, especially the working ones, are no more a contingent on men for help. In the current perspective, they too are pulling themselves out from all the stops and are becoming more and more self-reliant. Female celebrities, these days, don't mind being single, as money is not a problem for them. Being a part and parcel of the glamorous world, they are mentally liberated and can easily adapt to any relationship (live-in, a casual affair or a fling).
Celebrities are high profile and have a high self-esteem. However, in a relationship one has to compromise and respect the other's craving too. Therefore, people who do not want to relent under any kind of pressure, prefer being single. After all, when ‘to be single is the new jingle’, then ‘why to mingle and loose the entire giggle.’

GupShup Salman aur romantic?
After a long silence, Katreena at last has opened her heart publicly about sweetheart Salman Khan. The vivacious actress revealed that Salman feels that he is a unique lover, but he is not romantic at all. "He hates candlelight dinners and wants his food to be ready on the table, when he reaches a restaurant," Katrina disclosed. However, she confessed that Salman is very reliable. When questioned about finding her 'Prince Charming' in Salman, Katrina showed her more mature side, saying, "In my 24th year, I am beginning to accept that nobody is perfect, but at the same time, I respect a relationship. Then, the person has to be able to make me laugh and another factor for me is trust. However, trust does take priority over other factors because these days you cannot completely rely on trust. You have to go by your own instinct.” Alas! No marriage bells for Salman bhai!

The fact is that Robert is two inches shorter than Jude and has no experience of wearing platformheeled shoes. During a shoot, Robert could not balance himself in those shoes and was knocked unconscious after been accidentally punched by a stuntman, which required six stitches. What a sh (oe) ame!

He has also requested soccer player, David Beckham to write to the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to grant him a visa. Snoop was arrested at London's Heathrow airport in April 2006 after his entourage vandalised a whiskey shop and attacked seven police officers after being turned away from the first class lounge. The star has also urged his fans in the UK to support his plea for a visa. Dear Snoop, it is better to behave like Snoop, not like…
A matter of nose
‘To hell with natural beauty’, that seems to be the new mantra in Bollywood. After Koena Mitra and Shilpa Shetty’s artificial nose jobs, it is time for Minissha Lamba to go under the knife to get a better nose. The actress felt that she had a broad nose, which did not look good on her face. Actually Minissha neither has the body nor the attitude to turn hot. She also donned a bikini in movie Kidnap but this gimmick could not entice the audience. Well, it looks difficult that this nose job will actually help Minissha’s sagging career but let’s wait and watch. After all, yeh naak ka sawaal hai! 74

Artistic Paris Hilton
Change ka chakkar Shakespeare once stated, ‘What is in a name’ but it seems that our Bollywood heroes differ with this maxim. Like other Bollywood superstitious stars, Harman Baweja has also been bitten by name change. Recently, he has changed his name from Harman to ‘Hurman S. Baweja’. No doubt, Harman is a diligent actor but will the name change work in favour of Harman? His previous movie Love Story 2050 was a flop at the box office. So Harman does not want to take any chance and therefore, has changed the spelling of his name as a caution to thwart the bad luck. Well, if a name change can make someone lucky then who cares for working hard, Boss!
Hotel heiress, Paris Hilton wants to become an artist. According to Paris, she has been secretly exploring her creative side and would love to show off her talent to the world. She revealed that she has a room in her house, where she paints. “I've been offered an exhibition, which I might do next year," added Paris. She also insisted that her bimbo image on the reality TV show was far different from her real life. “I think a lot of people have seen me on 'The Simple Life' but it was like playing a character. I am a lot more serious and shy in real life.” Paris is ‘shy’! It is too hard to digest.
Aamir’s new freak
After showcasing his splendid body in Ghajini, Aamir Khan is once again ready to experiment with it. This time Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist is busy shedding weight for Raj Kumar Hirani’s new movie, 3 Idiots. In order to look like a student, it is learnt that Aamir had to shed 7 to 8 kgs.! Although his decision to let-go of the body, which he made in the past one year, was a difficult one, as being an actor, his body is the best instrument for him. “I have to change my appearance for my roles,” declared Aamir. Dear Aamir, why do not you advise Govinda, who looks like a double roti these days?
Uma Thurman's exercise
Uma Thurman recently shocked a plane’s passengers by doing exercises on a recent flight. The Hollywood star was travelling from New York's JFK Airport to Utah's Salt Lake City. Suddenly, she left her seat and began bending and stretching in front of the shocked onlookers. She used the flight-attendant station as a ballet barre, where she stretched herself for 20 minutes. Most travellers politely started looking in another direction and assumed Uma's weirdness as a part of her stringent fitness regime. However, soon they were surprised to see that this health-conscious freak rushed out of the plane as soon as it landed and immediately lit up a cigarette! Well, this could be a part of her yoga regime to fume the tension. Ha ha ha!

Kajraare
A soft love story
Despite a lukewarm response to movie Karzzz, Himesh is still not ready to give up his acting career. This time, director Pooja Bhatt has joined hands with Bhushan and Kishan Kumar of T- series, who are producing Himesh's new flick Kajraare, to encash upon Himesh's mass appeal. This is Pooja's first maiden film outside her own production company but again, she could not resist her temptation towards Pakistani soil and has paired Pakistani actress Mona Laizza with Himesh. This film is based on an IndoPak love story, where Himesh and Mona Laizza are the pivotal characters. Himesh himself has composed music for this love story and needless to say that whether the film would do well or not, but its music would be lilting.
Race to Witch Mountain
Thrilling fantasy This adventurous movie by Walt Disney Pictures is directed by Andy Fickman and produced by Andrew Gunn. The movie is based on a science fiction novel, Escape to Witch Mountain. The plot of the movie revolves around two kids, who have super powers. For the movie, Disney has hired former wrestler Dwayne Johnson aka ‘The Rock’ for a vital role. Surprisingly, this is the fourth time, when Disney is making a movie based upon this novel. AnnaSophia Robb, Alexander Ludwig, Carla Gugino and Ciaran Hinds are the other stars of the movie. Surely, Disney would leave no stone unturned to make this movie better.
Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge
Comedy dose
In a short span of time, UTV Motion Pictures has earned a name to reckon in the realm of experimental movies. This time producer Ronnie Screwvala has handed over the reign of his new venture, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge to debutant director Umesh Shukla, who is an ex-assistant of director Neeraj Vohra. Kunal Khemu, Sonu Sood, Soha Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever are starring in this comedy; where for the first time, actor Sonu Sood is playing 11 different characters of Bollywood's myriad blockbuster movies. Not only this, Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever are also ready to tickle the audience endlessly. As these days audience wants a surprise and delight each time they walk into the theatre, so producer Ronnie Screwvala is sure enough about the success of this movie like his previous flicks. No doubt, Bollywood is changing!

Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia are starring in this film, which is a remake of super hit Telegu film Pokiri. Prabhu Deva is the director of this movie and incidentally, he has also remade this movie into Tamil as Pokkiri, which also did well money at the boxoffice. Now producer Boney Kapoor is expecting to mesmerise the Hindi audience with the same magic. The story of the movie is about a mafia henchman and the ups and downs of his life, thus full of action and thrills. Other than Salman and Ayesha, Om Puri, Mahesh Manjrekar and Sayaji Shinde will be sharing screen space. The music of the film is composed by Salman's favourite music directors, Sajid-Wajid. As Prabhu Deva is the captain of the movie, we can expect lots of latka jhatka in the movie, which is choreographed by his brother Raju Sundaram. Hope Boney Kapoor would relish this super-duper hit remake!

Knowing
A horrifying reality
Nicolas Cage belongs to an exceptional category of Hollywood stars, who always perform well in mainstream and offbeat cinema. Actor, producer, director and own production company – his versatility knows no boundaries and his quest for diversity makes him an outstanding performer. In this shocking sci-fi movie, he is performing as a teacher, who fights against the appalling predictions of the future and strives to shelve them. Writer and Director Alex Proyas have been associated with the thrillers and have a racy style in the making of movies. His previous movie, I, Robot was a box-office success and he remarkably handled the special effects scenes in the movie. Being a science fiction, this movie also has a lot of special effects. So, Alex is once again ready to keep the audience at the edge of their seats!
The Accidental Husband
99
This romantic comedy is directed by Griffin Dunne and Uma Thurman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Colin Firth are the leading stars of the movie. The plot of the movie revolves around a woman, who is going to be married but falls for another man. Another core concept of the movie is how to find a suitable man for marriage and how to keep him faithful forever. Uma Thurman is the central part of this hilarious comedy and she defines new facets of relationships through her character in the movie. Director Griffin Dunne has again tried his hand in a romantic comedy after Addicted to Love, which had received a lukewarm response at box-office. It seems as if his approach is more mature than the previous one. And Uma Thurman, of course, she will be the best in her role as usual!
Nervous ninety
Find a true lover
Of late, not only the plots but the titles of the Bollywood movies are also attentiongrabbing. In this context, 99 is the new movie, of which the title creates curiosity about its storyline. This upcoming comedy film is written and directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. The film is about a group of youngsters, who seem to be stuck at 99 and are unable to hit a century. The leading actors of the movie are Kunal Khemu, Boman Irani, Soha Ali Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vinod Khanna and Cyrus Broacha. The movie has come as a much-needed break for both Soha and Kunal Khemu as their earlier films were meagrely based on comedy genre. As each actor possesses good humour, the movie would have something interesting for the audience.
12 Rounds
Full of action
Director Renny Harlin is mainly known for his action movies and has earned a reputable name through his commercial hits such as Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea and Exorcist: The Beginning. Once again, he is ready to spell his charm through the movie, 12 Rounds. This action packed movie is produced by WWE Studios and the wrestler, John Cena is in the leading role. The film depicts his struggle with a kidnapper to rescue his girlfriend. Cena’s previous movie The Marine was a blockbuster, which was also produced by WWE Studios. This is the fourth movie produced by the studio. How Harlin and Cena’s chemistry would enthral the audience, it would be interesting to know.
