Her research falls in the study of how sustainable equipment and evolution of technologies are changing the aesthetic of the live entertainment industry. Paige Willis (Stage Manager) is a junior at UR double majoring in psychology and theatre. This is her tenth production with the University, where she's filled roles as an assistant stage manager, a student lighting designer, and a light board operator, as well as the stage manager for the 2019 show Appropriate. She is incredibly proud of all of the hard work that has been put into the show.
María Acosta (Lord Buckingham) is a graduate student at UR’s School of Professional & Continuing Studies. Richard III is María’s third production as an actress at UR, though she served as director for The
Wolves, stage manager for SPARC’s Twelfth Night and UR’s Caroline, or Change, and assistant stage manager for SPARC’S Make ‘Em Laugh, and UR’s The Story. María congratulates the cast and crew for accepting the challenge of working on Richard III as well as Walter for affording her another opportunity to do the work she loves. Pranay Bhootra (Grey, Messenger) is a junior at UR majoring in mathematical economics. He dabbled in
a bit of theatre in high school, but this is his first production with the University and he is excited to be onboard. Justin Butler (Richmond) is a sophmore at the University of Richmond and is extremely excited to have been cast in Richard III. Justin played a small role in the University’s 2019 production of Appropriate, and was an assistant stage manager in the Production Studies III production, The Wolves. Justin plays piano and bass, both upright and electric, and plays with the University’s Jazz Ensemble. He would like to thank Walter Schoen for allowing him to partake in this opportunity as well as his parents, Derrick and Gayle Butler, for raising him. Vahn I. Haley Gibbons (Queen Margaret) is a junior at UR and is super excited to be part of the Richard III cast. She is majoring in journalism and plans to double minor in film studies and theatre. This is Haley's second production at the University, with Antigone being the first. She is truly grateful for the opportunity and aspires to one day to become a successful actress in film and on Broadway. India Henderson (Lady Anne) is a senior majoring in leadership studies and minoring in theatre and French. Over the years, she has had the honor of performing in a variety of mainstage productions including The Crucible (Abagail), Antigone (Kreon), The Story (Yvonne), and Caroline, or Change (The Moon). She would like to thank Mr. Schoen for his fantastic direction in this monumental production on our campus and her family for their constant patience, love, and support. Shaylen Lafferty (Duchess of York) is a sophomore at UR with intent to major in theatre and English. Previously, she assisted with operating the lightboard for The Wolves. She is thrilled to be a part of this production and so proud of everyone involved for making a play under such unprecedented circumstances.
Haley Lawrence (Murderer, Tyrell) is a senior who’s returned to campus after a year off from school. She intends on completing her B.S. in environmental studies and minoring in theatre. This is her sixth University production following her appearances in Caroline or Change, The Crucible, Godspell, As Bees
in Honey Drown, and Well. She’s found the pandemic adjustments to the production process to be challenging, but rewarding, and hopes that you’ll enjoy the finished product. Genevieve Markee (Hastings) last appeared on the UR stage in Vinegar Tom (2018), but her handiwork as a scene shop assistant has appeared in several other productions, including this one. When not making
Richard III memes for her castmates’ amusement, she can be found buried in senior year coursework for a political science major, Chinese double major, and English minor. She has enjoyed every minute of working with her favorite playwright, Willy Shakes, as well as with the wonderful cast and production team of Richard III. Enjoy the show! This is his first production with the University, and he is excited to continue his involvement in future productions. This is his first production at UR, and he is very excited to take part in it. Emma Sloane (Rivers) Emma is a sophomore at UR planning to double major in theatre and rhetoric & communications. This is her second performance at UR, including her previous role as Cassidy in
Appropriate. She has also acted as a sound board op for The Wolves and directed her own monologue in Alpha Psi Omega’s New Faces 2020. Emma is thrilled to act “Shoenspeare” with an incredible cast and crew, and she thanks the audience for coming to see a great show.
