I feel like every day we are judged simply by appearance, there is no chance for us to show who we are as a person. For example; it's unfair to stereotype people who don hijab, we are kind; we are fierce; we are more than our appearance. There is hope for the future if we come together with love.

iscriminating against size, age, race, religion background or skin color may be due to the fact that people don’t understand differences or maybe are afraid to look at the differences of beauty. Living in a world where everyone looks the same would be an uninteresting, mundane world. There’s nothing more beautiful and special than a diverse group of people. Our beauty lies in our differences, and nobody should be made to feel that their uniqueness is something to be ashamed of. Beauty and fashion industries are evolving. And yet, the progressive movement still has a long way to go; designers embracing diversity are a tiny fraction. The inclusion of models of color, plus sizes and various ethnicities seem to be just for fashion week to get a plethora of media coverage. Mod trends diversity issue symbolizes how no matter how they look, they are one in the same. On this cover, model Halle, Jessica and designer Chichi discuss how diversity is essential.

While the modeling industry is becoming more diverse, we must admit that it has a long way to grow. Growing up, I didn't see women who looked like me in the modeling industry. My dark skin, my thick thighs, and my not so flat tummy was excluded from modeling when I first thought of modeling. I feel the industry is starting to open it's arms to welcoming women of different shapes and sizes- we would be remiss to include women of ALL ethnicities in fashion. Representation matters. Diversity matters. It shows women of all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes a few things: Society's beauty standards are not valid! There is beauty within every single one of us. When we see someone who looks like us, we have a better connection and experience while understanding that anything is achievable. A sense of unity is imperative. People are multifaceted with uniqueness within them. It is time to embrace diversity in the modeling and fashion industry. Photography: Travis Curry Makeup Artist: Rose Grace

Jessica Milagros Jessica Milagros- a native Puerto Rican who now calls Chicago home and career began when she won second place, out of 2,000+ entries, in the Plus Model Magazine and Dorothy Combs Models Model Search in 2011. Since then, Jessica has been featured in various publications, appeared on national television programs (Steve Harvey, Univision) and walked several runways including New York Fashion Week and The Business of Curves at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She worked with major retail brands such as Target, Ashley Stewart, Kohl's etc. and is currently the first Latin X size 16/18 model to land a national commercial and collaborative swimwear line with retailer JCPENNEY. “I’m all about size diversity and I think it’s evident that you're seeing a change, but honestly, there’s still so much of the same body type. Working to help women see something different was really important for me to say, “I think all women are real women so I’m not going to say real women”, I am the average woman, and there’s not enough of women like me. I keep fighting for size diversity (inclusion) because I think that's important. I am a size 16/18 model and I don’t tend to work with other models bigger than me. I think that’s important too because all plus size women don’t carry weight the same, but we need to see all types represented in fashion”.

The art of style to me is expressing your identity. Showing someone who you are through your fashion choices and using your clothes as a statement. My culture and heritage plays a major role in the stylish clothes I design. From the texture of the fabric, to where they’re outsourced, my motion is to always give that feeling of being foreign but yet still approachable.

Chichi discovered that fashion was the perfect environment to develop and hone her passion in being creative, She started Zurikgirl, a ready-to-wear clothing brand designed for the contemporary woman with a big city mind. Her summer collection MUSE. Diversity in fashion have come a long way, in the modeling aspect I think we are all more aware that not only a size 2 or 4 is beautiful, what designers and brands need to do now is be proactive and continue to use plus size models. Another aspect is we need to improve on is giving MORE designers and creative directors the same type of opportunities to represent elite companies. Mod Trends/36

3. You’re not ready for summer without silky smooth skin: We all know that during winter we’re not as consistent when it comes to hair removal, but summer is not so forgiving. So, you need to make sure you have your trusty handy Silk-Epil with you at all times. Silk-Epil 9 is much more than an epilator! First of all, it can remove these short tiny hairs that wax can’t pick up (down to 0.5mm), with the new MicroGrip tweezer technology which leaves your skin silky smooth. And the best thing about it, is that it’s rechargeable, so, you can take it with you in your bag everywhere you go.
4. Skin exfoliation is the greatest secret for glowy skin: Your skin gets pretty dry, and rough during wintertime due to the constantly changing weather, the cold, and sometimes the dust. So, the best way to revive it is by peeling the dead skin. Braun Silk-epil 9's deep and gentle exfoliation brush, will restore life to your dry skin in seconds. Thanks to the massaging pad that can stimulate the blood vessels below your skin for a shinier appearance. Did we mention that it’s waterproof too? Yes, it is! You can easily clean the Silk-épil 9 epilator under running The weather is finally warm enough to head to the beach, water and comfortably use it in the bath or shower. and lay in the sun. But, after a long and cold winter, your skin is probably tired and dull. So, here are 6 ways 5. Get your beach bag ready with sun protection accessories, beauty products, and gadgets: to get your skin smooth and ready for summertime.
The 6 Rules of Silky Smooth Skin during Summertime
1. First things first, pamper your feet, they’ll be showing all summer long: Head to the nail salon as soon as you can, because your feet and toes will be showing all summer long, and they need to look flawless. Getting a manicure and pedicure every 2 weeks will make them always look beautiful. If you don’t have time to go to the salon, then you can soak your feet in some warm water and soap to get rid of dead skin. Finish this process by drying your feet very well and applying some moisturizing cream, and for better results, wear cotton socks before you go to bed. One last tip, apply almond oil on your toenails every night to maintain their shiny, and healthy look. 2. Dry skin is no longer a problem if you follow these rules: There’s nothing worse than the feeling of dry skin, that’s why you need to keep it hydrated and moisturized by following these simple rules. You need to drink at least 2L of water every day, eat hydrating food, like vegetables and fruits. And, don’t forget to apply coconut oil on your skin right after taking a shower. It will keep your skin smooth and moisturized for the longest time Mod Trends/37
You can’t go to the beach without getting your sun protection accessories ready. So, along with your large beach hat, your beach bag must contain sunglasses and Silk-Epil 9 for quick touch ups in the bathroom. Don’t forget, your skin has been hiding in the shade for a long time during winter, so, you need to protect it with a good sunblock. You need to look for a sunblock that goes perfectly with your skin type. In order for the sunblock to protect your skin from harmful rays, you need to apply it 10 minutes in advance before you head out of the house. Sunblock protects your skin from dark spots, skin discoloration and even skin cancer. 6. Last, but not least, great skin depends mainly on what you eat: It is scientifically proven that Omega-3 can help protect your skin from harmful sun rays. That’s why it is recommended to eat fish alongside antioxidant foods like green tea, and chocolate to protect your skin during summer.
