angaret studied Fine Arts at the Uxbridge College in London, graduated in fashion at the London College of Fashion, university of the arts, which enabled her to broaden her scope in the art and fashion world. She then studied Fashion design and Marketing at the University of East London. Proud of her multiple origins that demonstrate the wealth and diversity of African culture; ? - Apollo (Nzema people native of Ghana) ? - Mahouka (Fulani from Mali) and ? - Odienneka from Odienne (Northern Ivory Coast), She crafts her art pieces interweaving her passions of native tradition and culture. Thus, her paintings reveal the influence of African tradition and the remarkable understanding of her roots as an African. In addition, her recent studies in Business management and

finance allowed her to structure her passion for art and make a lucrative business around her art which includes all her experiences through the preparation and implementation of: jewellery, clothing and art making.
The creative spirit of Malicka developed in her early childhood. With influences from her maternal grandmother and her mother who are both gifted and proactive in the art scenes; her maternal grandmother former midwife, seamstress, jeweller and Layette tailor during her retirement, and her mother, who is a fine artist and designer in Abidjan and Paris, but currently lives in London.
Her work is an enigmatic narrative of African culture outside as inside the continental borders, aimed at promoting and also strengthening African identity (identity too often obscured by the effects of globalization) by effectuating cultural relativism and highlighting the African cultural uniqueness and potency.

MY BODY LOVE JOURNEY
COVER STORY
Lala Tshabalala is a plus size blogger, model and body positive activist. Her lifestyle brand "plus size is ME" was created in 2012 aiming to celebrate full-figured women.
P
lus size is ME explores; fashion, beauty, lifestyles and promotes healthy body images through positive body messaging and body wellness. Lala's brand has amassed tremendous growth over the years and has created a body-love moment to women across Africa. This South African born model dished out a body love message for everyone that may be struggling with it: My body love journey has been interesting. I didn't realize how deep my issues were with my appearance until I had to start addressing them. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE PEACE WITH IT. The best part of the journey is when you can look back on things and laugh because you know you are in a much better space. People (especially on social media) will shame you for having the confidence to pose in swimwear and they will also demand that you cover up. Ironically, no one will ever question when a skinny girl does the same thing (even if she has cellulite and stretch marks). They will sexualize your body and look at you like a slut purely based on the fact that you have curves.

COVER STORY
Another woman's beauty does not signify the absence of your own, so let's stop treating every beautiful woman we see as a threat. We live in a time where we have the power to support and uplift each other. We also have the power to influence the way we are treated, meaning we have to do and be better. We're programmed to only love our bodies when they look the way we want them to and any other time we subject that same body to abuse and hate. It's not ok.
“The only way to make peace with your body is to realize your issues and address them Body shamers need to know; you might have a problem with my body, but I don't have a problem with my body and your problem is not my problem. You aren't perfect either, so I guess we are in this together.
Let's focus on loving our bodies pre "body goals" and every step of the way.
I urge everyone to stop trying to conform to particular beauty standards and body types. Forget "them" and
We obsess over fitting into "beauty and body focus on you and your overall happiness!! I'm here to standards" forgetting that the very people dictating to celebrate it all, stretch marks, cellulite and everything us about how we should look don't even look that way. else. 11 www.modelsdigesttrends.com #modtrends

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF I'm Mallory B. Richardson. The 2017 Face of Full Figured Fashion Week, a plus size model who loves traveling. I'm a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and I'm body positive enthusiast.
There’s been a lot of love and support from people telling me how much I inspire them. Following my stories and all I've been through to get to this point as the brand ambassador of Full Figured Fashion Week. I've had a lot of opportunities to affect many lives and share the vision and mission of Full Figured Fashion Week. I've also educated IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU a lot of people who are uninformed what WANT TO ADD? A NICKNAME? the event is and what it brings to the plus Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm size community. very fashion-forward and I embrace being a girl. Meaning, always getting my hair BEING THE FACE OF FULL FIGURE and nails done and enjoying all things FASHION WEEK, HAS IT CHANGED regarding the beauty aesthetic. As a girl I ANYTHING ABOUT YOU? looked like a Barbie and she was my role Yes it has. It made me elevated and model. A girlfriend of mine who thought heightened in my career. If I want to be at I was so beautiful fused barbie into my that next level, I must work hard towards it. So, I tightened my communication name and created Malibu Barbie. skills and I'm now more visible on social YOU RECENTLY WERE AWARDED THE "FACE OF FULL FIGURED FASHION WEEK". TELL US ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE From the moment I found out, my life automatically changed. I started with a phone call, then followed by an email from Gwen Devoe that I've been honored as the 2017 Face of Full Figured Fashion Week.
“Invest in your passion” for the pageant for various reasons, not just the beauty elements, but some ladies needed confidence building. Then I decided to start the project so there won't be as much pressure on fashion from the pageantry stand point. I just wanted to create a community within a community where woman can feel comfortable by building their confidence, learning how to start a career in fashion and giving back with mentorship opportunities.
ONE THING THAT STANDS OUT IS THAT YOU RELATE EVERY FASHION THOUGHT TO THE SCRIPTURES. ANY media. People have to constantly see my PLAN TO GO INTO THE MINISTRY? brand, message and how hard I work. *laughs* Yes, I plan to. I attended the Elevation Baptist Church in North Carolina YOU HAVE AN NGO THAT HELPS and the pastor there was so relatable. I PLUS WOMEN IN THEIR CAREER always have a great time worshiping there. DEVELOPMENT, WHAT IS THE I planned on serving and playing some roles INSPIRATION BEHIND IT? while expanding the vision for my The inspiration to start my NGO came community working with young girls to when I participated in the 1st annual Ms. create opportunities for self-expression and Full Figured NC pageant. I quickly body positivity. You'll see a lot of that from understood that some women signed up me with Faith and Fashion. 17 www.modelsdigesttrends.com #modtrends
SOME PLUS WOMEN ARE BEING STEREOTYPED WHEN IT COMES TO FASHION STATING THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE PUBLIC'S OPINION. AS A FASHION STYLIST, WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CORRECT THIS? The point is to lead by example… How do I push and encourage women when I can't be myself? So I try to celebrate and talk positively daily by sharing the same remarks to ladies in my organization. I also encourage them to share with other women because we are our biggest community. I lead by example by doing a lot of photo shoots. Not just for personal reasons but also professional ones.
fashion, small business and enterprises in our state. So you'll continue to see crusade of curves, year after year, because the response is exponential and we already have future sponsors in mind. I also have a background in publication. I feel merging written content with fashion to get my message through and we are working on getting a partnership outside of North Carolina. Now what I thought would be a state organization may become a national one.
PARTING WORDS To anyone interested in this industry you should start by seeking guidance in your faith. Take some time to think what is the "why" in your interest. Research and understand what happened before you got the opportunity to come into the industry. Make a list of the people you look up to in the industry. Try to get signed to an agency and begin to build your network. There are people that can help elevate and push OBVIOUSLY YOU'VE EMBRACED YOUR BODY your vision forward. You also have to be ready to invest in your passion BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN TONS OF BIKINI PHOTOS (for example; photoshoots, makeup, hair and cosmetics). So be ready to OF YOU. FOR SOME LADIES, "EMBRACING YOUR finance your passion to get you where you want to be. BODY" IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE. WHAT'S YOUR ADVICE TO THOSE THAT ARE STILL UNSURE? It is a daily progress. I don't think anyone has embraced body positivity fully.. Each of us has that one day where we feel awesome about ourselves... and then the next day insecurities sets in. I always tell people they should work on it daily starting from the inside out. DO YOU THINK THE PLUS SIZE INDUSTRY IS AS DIVERSE AS IT SHOULD BE? Honestly, I think the industry can diversify themselves better. Much like ourselves that are works in progress. Our industry can be that same way. We have to combine the things we want and keep paving the way for more diversity so that the bigger brand and industry representatives will understand this is want we want to see. We want to see variations of sizes in ad campaigns and runways when generally dealing with models of colour. ARE THERE ANY CHALLENGES GETTING PHOTOGRAPHERS AND FASHION DESIGNERS TO WORK WITH YOU? That's an awesome question. There are photographers in my area that choose not to work with plus size women and that's a huge problem. Whatever your concept is, you can also accomplish it by trying it out with a full figured lady. In fact it will make you more creative. HOW DO YOU HANDLE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS A PLUS SIZE MODEL? All you have to do is understand and then realize why you are in this. Why ones sign up for photo shoots and what is your purpose in the plus industry by doing that? When your foundation becomes solid, you'll be able to deflect the negative vibes coming from people. I typically ignore those comments. I will just block that person creating the negative energy… Positivity is all I work with, no negativity. Positive vibes only! ASIDE FROM YOUR NGO AND FASHION BRAND (THE DOLL HOUSE), WHATS NEXT FOR YOU? A lot actually. Crusade of Curves has been my second fashion production. In April 2017, there was a three day event in North Carolina and I now plan to make it an annual event. I want my community to celebrate plus 18 www.modelsdigesttrends.com #modtrends
