The core in the western terraces allows for a subtle shift between private and public spaces in the residential spaces. It is placed at the rear of the shopfronts for security and privacy reasons

Orientation

Service spaces are placed in the centre of the building to benefit from ventilation from the East and West while providing for practical movement through the space.

Form

The western terraces were initially a block, from which a core pertrudes. The blocks, along with the entrance core, are staggered to break up the elevation.

Orientation

The rooms of the homes are placed according the sun’s orientation. The bedrooms are east facing to benefit from the early morning sun, and the living spaces are west facing for evening sun.
