BEST IN SHOW

It’s hard to believe that this month marks our eighteenth annual Best of the Gold Coast issue. For nearly two decades, we have been presenting the results of our extensive online poll that asks you, the readers, for your favorite restaurants, nightlife hot spots, boutiques and more. Each year the number of people who voice their opinions grows (a far cry from the time long ago when we had to explain what Best Of was and how to vote).

This year, 106,000 votes were cast in more than 170 categories. It’s truly heartening to see how strongly you feel about your go-to places in Fairfield County (page 78).

Our Best Of winners are a combination of old favorites and new faces who hail from all corners of the Gold Coast—from Fairfield on down to Greenwich. And although we know you’ll hop in your car to visit the best boutique or check out the most unique vintage furniture shop, a while back we got to thinking that you also probably want to know who garnered the most votes in our town alone. Hence, the Best of Greenwich was born. In this section, we share with you who was deemed tops within our town borders (page 104).

This issue has always been a celebration of the vibrancy of our community. But in these post-pandemic days, it’s also a reminder not to take that vibrant way of life for granted. Yes, it’s been a long two and a half years. But we will never forget when the simple things— doing a little shopping, meeting a friend for lunch or popping into the gym—went away overnight. Now that we’ve made it to the other side, let’s remember to support and appreciate everything that makes this town, well, the best.
