3 - 26 July 2011 Sunday to Thursday 9:00am to 2:00pm Skills4life will offer you a Summer School Program in more than 10 different professional areas: robotics, microcontrollers, aviation, careers in motorsports, photography, web design, and much more. You will be part of a team of students like you: eager to learn more, to think out of the box, to search for innovative solutions. During the three weeks full time program Skills4life will bring you new challenges, adventures, cultural activities, effective leadership training and meetings with experts and leading industries.


Friends4Life

Each year, Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) will organize and coordinate “Skill4life”, a program that is designed to focus on improving the performance of National students from grades 9 to 11 in the areas of English, technology and vocational education. The aim of the program is to provide a variety of positive learning experiences for students that ‘value-add’ to their knowledge, skills and attitudes. ACTVET wants to strengthen the focus of “Skills4life” on education through recreation and place a greater emphasis on identifying and achieving the key learning outcomes of each activity with focus on English, vocational and Technology based programs and field related projects.

Objectives of the Program : To encourage students to form social relationship and make new friends in a highly supportiv environment in which education through recreation is emphasized To instill the lifelong values of teamwork and individual responsibility in daily tasks in a healthy environment To build individual character, confidence and skills through a wide range of sports, workshops and cultural activities To approach and experience each and every day as a new and exciting adventure To recruit more students in vocational and technical programs and institutions



About ACTVET The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) was created by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council in 2010 to preside over Technical and Vocational training in the Emirate. ACTVET’s commitment is to establish policies and standards in order to regulate Technical and Vocational Educational institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Our ultimate goal is increasing the number of skilled Emirati youth in rewarding employment who have opportunities for life-long learning and personal development. In addition to regulating Technical and Vocational Education Institutions, ACTVET is also responsible for the licensing of vocational and technical trainers and tutors that meet the demands of our local market; providing guidance and assistance to the Abu Dhabi government and private institutions in matters related to technical and vocational education and training; undertaking original educational research in co-ordination with Abu Dhabi Education Council and the development of strategies and mutually beneficial partnerships with public and private education and training institutes.

Mission

To establish policies and standards and provide guidance to licensed and accredited Technical and Vocational Education Training providers in Abu Dhabi in order to build the capacity of skilled Emirati youth in gainful employment with opportunities for lifelong learning and personal development.

Institute of Applied Technology – IAT The Institute was founded in 2005 through Royal decree of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Abu Dhabi as a corporate body with full financial and administrative independence. With state-of the-art facilities and excellent support services, The Institute of Applied Technology offers Career-based Technical Education (CTE) in English at the secondary and tertiary levels. The institute’s five campuses are located in the United Arab Emirates at Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaima and Al Fujairah; with its directorate located in Abu Dhabi. In addition, IAT encompasses higher learning start-ups in aviation, polytechnic and nursing. ATHS is one of The Institute of Applied Technology Educational system. ATHS’s integrated system of Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways contributes to the development of the UAE by: * Providing distinctive high school programs that integrate career and technical education with a rigorous academic core. * Providing post-secondary CTE programs to meet the industrial needs and requirements of the nation. * Maintaining externally benchmarked standards for all programs offered. * Fostering close and cooperative relationships with the community, industry and government to ensure that ATHS is responsive to national needs and expectations. * Organizing public and industry continuing education programs in line with the needs of all stakeholders.
