Introduction The link between art, space and the sorrounding environment has been the source of insipration and elaborate interest through out my discovery of Architecture. My search of a style to design, yielded the oppurtunity to find that Archtiecture is born out of time and place, within a culture and on a landscape that expresses all three major elements of interest. This Portfolio is a culmination and a progressive journey that exemplifies this endeavor.

Landscape as Temperor In colaboration with Jon Basset.
The intent of the project was to pursue the understanding of the landscape as a temperor and driver of the foreseen project. The exercises and iteration led to a spritual, and conscious awareness of the landscsape as a driver for Architectural manifestation and conception. The birth of that understanding resulted in a retreat aimed for the caring and revitalization of Medical Doctors whom usually provide such care and healing for others. further more, a retreat that is integrated within the topographical lines and gestures of the landscape.

The example on the right, is an abstract technial drawing of the landscape as a threshhold of elaborate melodies in which experiences are created. Through the exrcises such as these, four main concepts come to be: 1. Integeration
2. projection
3. connection
4. Healing

As a collaborative effort, we were asked to develop expriential drawings for the site, in which on the left side, I developed a map of connections on the site as part of individual drawings, which, along side my partners explorations, we were able to concieve a section of the imagined pods of individual or couple retreat that would sit and integerate in the landscape as a marriage of the naatural and man made.
img
This Section elicits the relationship of the other intended commnity building that would serve as the welcoming and public gathering and socializing quarters.

Writere’s Housing Individual Project.
The project came flurishment as a focus on the writer’s community that at the time of the project were at a decline in the SOHO Newyork area. After interviews of various Writer’s and professors of literature and Linguestics, the premise of which an affordable living that provides a source of income for the writer’s came to be. The project backs itself upon the idea of Work, Live, Sell and Live Perform, which creates a cohesive environment for Writers to live affordable while required to publish their work every 12 months, while performing live as public event for publicity and spreading of name, all as part of the program to support writers while providing an environment in which they could thrive.

The program was stacked in order of public to private relationships. Through interviews, I found, that Writer’s prefer to be away yet connected with the social fabric of the location they are a part of. Thus the First point of the program was the retail area, Second the public cafe and performing stage, Third Was the aparatments in which they were the highest and most seperated from the public. The main circulation paths were pushed to the corners of the building, to provide quiet from the sound of mecanical additions. The remaing space is used as an Interior Public Courtyard for public social enchancment.

The exterior of the building was sculpted by the a solar analysis study done using programs like Autodesk Vasari. Also, through understanding of preferences, some of the Writer’s prefered the morning sun, while others prefered the Evenning sun, and some ofcourse prefered both. Thus the sculpting of the building aimed to provide adequate environments to support the psychological preferences of the writer’s in the apartments they occupy.
The top digital drawing was an illustration done in order to understanding the presence of the building in relationship to the sorrounding buildings, in which many of the lighting qualities sought after were concieved. An example of one of the results of this study is on the right, showing the interior courtyard.
SOHO lays at 40.792N in latitude, thus making solar angles both high in Summer and Low to the point of glare in Winter.

After the completion of the environmentalt and spatial analysis, the building was assymbled to the inquiries and micro-based pieces to the whole as the shown on the right figure. Each floor to cieling hieght was guaged in order to allow the fabric of the sorrounding buildings to be a driver of organization of the proposed building as part of the larger scheme of the city fabric. As could be seen in the sections and elevations below.

The site provided challenges that came along with the intense topographical changes in elevation. Through we saw that this was a great oppurtunity to integerate lessons and precedents seen from Landscape Architecture in many of the healing and therapuetic gardens. Thus the building became integerated into the landscape as a part of the healing strategy as provides a constat relationship between the occupant and the envirnonment that sorrounding without being engulfed within the fabric of the inense vihicular traffic of the highway.

Wood paneling is also used over the glass façade to bring a warm element to the face of the property and assist with maintaining privacy within the facility. This strategy is used as a provider of privacy and moderate transparenct from the outside world while providing an easing send of transparency and connection from within the structure.

Desert Terraforming Individual Project.
In this Project, we were asked to imagine a remote desert research station that sits in the Arid climatic Condition of the Desert, Through Research, I decided to place this project in my home country in Kuwait. The averag temprature of 127 Fehrenheit and shear amount of desertification caused from the shear destruction that occuredGulf War in 1990, overglazing and unsupervised human activity, led to the iradication of nearly 80% of the wildlife in the Kuwaiti Desert. This project is geared as a terraformer that serves a larger purpose that just the occupancy of the researches, as it aims to becomes the catalyst that would allow the desrt to heal, dust storms to lessen and wild life to re-emerge, as this is a hope to allow the elements to create a new yet lost eco-system.

Architectural Photography
Through my travels, I have witnessed and experienced spaces that enticed and eschited my being from within. Architecture becomes the inhibitor of human psychi and the elaborate dwelling in which we record our culture and history. Through these I hope my self as a future soon to be archiect, to exemplify such valor and beauty in the world. After all, What is archiecture but our melodies frozen in time. These are a selected few of the images taken through such endeavors.v
