eng-Han Yeh (Mohan) is a costume designer for theater, film and video games originally from Taiwan. He recently received his M.F.A. in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. Before pursuing his master degree, Mohan spent four years at Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan where he received his B.F.A. in Costume Design, and studied Victorian Costume Interpretation at Arts University Bournemouth, England on scholarship. Over ten years of costume design study and work experience internationally has given him a unique perspective to the way clothes impact dramatic storytelling in different cultures. Before Mohan’s coming to the US, Mohan worked for the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a costume designer to promote Taiwanese cultural image. His design “Beautiful Taiwan” has toured in over 36 cities, 32 countries. The other credits include working with Focus Dance Company, Change Dance Theater Company and If Children’s Theatre Company with national and international tours in Europe and Asia. With his interests in technology, Mohan worked with the Morphing Matter Lab to create a fashion show “Homeostasis” focused on different types of shape-memory and kinetic fabric. “Homeostasis” was recently showcased in Moscow at the State Historical Museum. Mohan’s interest in bridging technology and costume led to his Master’s thesis comparing to the different perspectives in theater and game industries through the character-building process while working in the Entertainment Technology Center. Mohan believes the combination of Art and Technology is a powerful force with untapped potential in the area of costume design. He is excited to examine different aspects of human nature via new storytelling methodologies including technology derived and manipulated costume.
