Today, you join more than 175,000 Mohawk College alumni who have been making their mark and making a difference since the college first opened its doors in 1967.
Not that long ago I was where you sit today as a new graduate of Mohawk College. This college gave me the skills I needed to succeed in my chosen career and provided the foundational knowledge that prepared me for success as a leader.

appointed as 9th President of Mohawk College
Paul Armstrong became the college’s ninth president on July 1, 2024. He is the first president to also be an alumnus of the college having graduated with a Diploma in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound ’89 and a Diploma in Radiological Technology ’88. President Armstrong has held many positions at the college over the past 30 years, starting as faculty in the Department of Medical Imaging, before becoming Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Community and Urban Studies, Vice President Academic, then most recently Chief Operating Officer (COO), a position he held for 4 years before becoming president. In 2013, Mohawk College recognized Armstrong’s career success and achievements with an Alumni of Distinction Award in the Health Sciences category.

Mohawk College and Dubai-based SEE Institute partner to promote a sustainable future through education
Mohawk College and SEE Institute, the net-zero emissions building based in Dubai, UAE, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create opportunities for the students, faculty and researchers at both institutions in the areas of research, training and academic studies. Based in Dubai, SEE Institute is a hub for sustainability education, research and business incubation, promoting sustainable practices in the Middle East and around the world.

THE COLLEGE
Mohawk College has grown to be one of Canada’s leading colleges. Mohawk’s history began in 1947 with the establishment of the Provincial Institute of Textiles which was transformed into the Hamilton Institute of Technology (HIT) in 1957. Ten years later, in 1967, HIT was incorporated as the newly established Mohawk College, one of 24 Ontario colleges.

THE LIRIPIPE
The liripipe is a European medieval symbol of academic achievement dating back to the 8th century. It marks the achievement of excellence according to each student’s chosen program and symbolizes their membership into the international community of scholars.
