KELAKELA INTERVIEW

Who is Kela Kela and how do you pronunce this weird name?

You can write and pronunce Kela Kela the way you want. I am an alien who landed in Milan and I come from a planet where freedom of expression is normal and everyone can be whatever they want to be and have the appearance they prefer.

Why are you on Earth?

Kela Kela is curious. They want to understand how people behave on this planet.

Is there anything interesting that you found out?

Fashion is cool, something interesting, a creative wrapping for people to get into. They can decide to express their personality, like art and design, however, since not everyone is creative or an artist, clothing is perhaps the most common medium to create something.

What do you dislike about fashion?

I don’t like to see that people, from afar, have all the same uniform.

Who decides what people have to wear in a given moment?

I often ask people why they all wear the same stuff,

most of them say they saw that on an influencer, aka people who give advice on clothing and accessories following their taste and offering inspiration.

Then I asked a random fashion designer how was their relationship with influencers and they told me that they paid 8000€ to have one of the most relevant IT GIRLS wear their sweater during the fashion week and then they sold so many pieces online.

That’s where I start questioning myself about the girl’s taste. She likes sweaters if they were given as a present, along with money?

So that means that if I pay, I can influence people and make them wear what I want?

You are weird, here on earth.

Have you also seen interesting people?

Yes, especially in Milan I see people who want to be different, they play with colors and shapes.

What I noticed is that these people, who I like, get strange looks and they are made fun of, they aren’t understood.

What is there to understand?

They actually chose how to show themselves for real that day and I find that what I see is very genuine, they haven’t copied someone else.

What do you like to do?

I like observing people’s behavior.

I like observing how people at trendy events behave the same way, they say the same things and always ask one another “how are you?”, without actually paying attention to the other person.

I always notice interest in other people’s jobs, I heard people ask “what do you do for a living?” before “what’s your name?”.

I like window shopping, graffiti on the walls, exhibitions and museums, especially when I can also observe people who are there close to me.

⁃Why is your face hidden?

I don’t have a face.

Here a face sells products.

A face is worth more than another face.

You judge a face for its color, for the actions they made even just once and i don’t like that, I prefer to be made of hair.

Hair is more beautiful, they can change shape and color when I decide so, they can be decorated, short and long at the same time.

How do you indentify?

I don’t like to identify, I don’t need to label my life.

On my planet there are no sexual orientations. Everyone does whatever they want when they feel attraction for another being.

I decided not to be catalogues in a single sex and I saw that even here on Earth someone is trying to feel free to be what they want to be and to love who they want to love, but most of the society marginalizes these people, whom I found extremely strong, stronger than many others who hide what they actually want and end their lives hiding who they are to the world.

-

What style do you like to wear?

I feel comfortable when I warp my shape, the more I get people confused and make their brains play, the more I have fun.

I wanna have fun and change my aspect every time I wish to do so.
