The project was inspired by the Atelierhaus Kurtz, built by Theo Schmidt in 1941. The target group for this residential complex at Germaniastrasse 59 in Zurich are students, young workers, and small families who want to live in a communal environment. The public space is designed to stand out from the private areas to create an urban district with intercultural exchange. The property consists of two buildings, each containing three housing units. Private and communal niches are created, generating spaces for various group relationships. The area between the two buildings serves as a meeting point for all residents.

The project, located in the densely structured Poblenou district in Barcelona, is an innovative integration of residential and commercial spaces within the same property. The goal is to create an urban atmosphere where a balanced relationship between public and private areas is established, interconnected by a network of corridors and stairs. As a result, covered spaces can be created between the apartments.
Kigali is growing rapidly in terms of population and there is a significant lack of green and open spaces in the densely populated informal settlements. Children suffer from a lack of public places for leisure activities and chronic malnutrition is a health problem in these areas. The planned health care center is intended to be located near the Marato Market and is divided into three areas to provide a combination of food market, health center and sports facilities.

This group project aimed to provide flexible seating options for students in an outdoor space next to the university campus. Eight modules were created, consisting of four benches, three stools and one table made from wooden frames connected by rubber hinges. Two adjustable table heights allow for customization to the user‘s needs. In the evening, the benches are illuminated from inside to emphasize the snake-like pattern of the bench and create a pleasant ambiance. Inspired by sails, materials like canvas, ropes, and pegs were used instead of screws to create weather-resistant, lightweight and harmonious furniture. The different shapes encourage students to come together through interaction with the design.
Preliminary sketches
Studio of Architecture and Design of Andrea Deplazes - Semester 1 - 2020
As part of my first bachelor semester, we focused on the design of spaces, specifically the design of a labyrinth. The project took into account light, shadow and openings to create spaces that are not recognizable from the outside. This makes it possible to create a path that takes the viewer on a journey.

This bus station in Zurich provides a place to take a break, relax and take a walk in a natural environment. The structure consists of large wooden arches. Glass is used to create spaces for the needed services. In the upper area, covered with plants, there is a second path.
Mentored project at the ZHdK - 2019
The cemetery is intended to be part of a park. Private areas are included where people can retreat and linger for longer periods of time. Like the tree of life, the paths through the park converge on a single point, a central tree. The water and lighting are intended to promote the tranquility of the place. Special attention has been given to raising the pathways through bridges and using reflective glass.
