NYFW ILLUSTRATED
MOKSHINI
Illustrating during fashion week is like drawing on steroids. The pace and energy is what I feed off, and capturing this through gesture is my goal. This zine showcases a mixture of onsite runway and backstage illustrations created during New York Fashion Week, SS16. Designers featured include Brother Vellies, Ground Zero, Skingraft and Prabal Gurung.

BROTHER VELLIES Designer Aurora James’ take on African inspired footwear is inspiring to say the least, for any fashion illustrator. Her line, Brother Vellies, presented a beautiful capsule collection of handmade shoes at Jack Studios during NYFW.

GROUND ZERO Brothers Eri and Philip from Ground Zero made bold moves with their quirky use of print and color. Eri’s background as graphic designer and Philip’s strong design sensibilty makes them the perfect design duo.

SKINGRAFT PRESENTATION Brothers Jonny and Christopher Cota, created the mysterious, dark and edgy brand, Skingraft. The label’s roots in performance art inspired fashion is evident in the silhouettes and use of layering, which translated beautifully on paper. 11

PRABAL GURUNG Prabal Gurung’s collection was feminine, refined, sophisticated, and beautifully executed. Our collaboration captured his inspiration, “the masterful brush strokes of artist Laxman Shrestha”. I worked with the team to capture key looks for their social media outlets. 17

THE AFTERMATHCOTERIE Following the shows, the madness of selling and buying begins. ‘Coterie’ is a hub for established and up and coming designers to showcase their collections to buyers. I was invited to capture a few scenes.
