This coming season sees the prevailing animal print take an unnatural turn. Verging on almost neon, fashions perpetual trend is updating itself for a contemporary A/W 16/17. Animal skins veer far away from their normal form as designers pixelate snakeskin and gyrate feathers into paint like splashes of colour.

lavish lettering Print & Graphic

Bold letters and branding placements continue to be influential for A/W 16/17, with serif fonts and framed boxes bringing novelty to the one-line slogan. It is styled to fit the theme of urban street, short messages and brand names show how the print trend has been updated to fit with other current trends incorporating youthfulness.

Here we can see mainly slogan jackets and jumpers in their boldest, purest forms. Large captial lettered statements are replaced for intricate motifs also exploring new placements as sleeves and back positions offer refreshing alternatives to front-central graphics.

monarch metallics Print & Graphic

Rich upholstery fabrics and Art Deco patterns inspire this future trend, taking influence from iconic moments of the 1960s and also garments of a royal style shape and detailing. Metallic finishes are made up from a mix of high-shine coatings, heavy brocades and lurex-infused knits.

Metallic separates are making the vault over into daywear in heavier knits and loose-fitting tailored shapes. All shades of metal are explored, classic tones such as gold and silver making way for copper, pewter and black options.

puffer presence Sports Wear

Although originally for practical and recreational purposes, over the recent years the puffer jacket has gone through a revival within the fashion world, with designers adapting the jacket in different, innovative ways. It is being cropped, dismantled and extended to shift into multiple new styles and shapes in order to cater for a growing new range of unisex consumers for this A/W 16/17 trend.

The puffer jacket, first invented by fisherman Eddie Bauer, is a youth driven trend influenced by urban street looks. This has been derived primarily over the recent months from the growing popularity of rap culture. casual performance Sports Wear

On the streets of London Fashion Week insurgent urban style meets active elements, tied together with opulent fabrics such as velvet, silk and satin to blur high-end style with easy-wear pieces. Silhouettes are relaxed, with a focus on soft layering and pairing of the unexpected for an individualist look with attitude. Driven by the growing youth fitness market and new generation of fitspo celebrities, this is a style that will break into the trends of A/W 16/17 with full force.

Briefcases have been swapped for duffle bags, and polished leather shoes are binned for crisp white trainers.

zip it Sports Wear This coming season of A/W 16/17 will see a haul of high zipper necklines paired with surprisingly otherwise formal outfits, to give it that different sporty finish. This looks create new opportunities of layering and the mix matching of items that previously would not have been worn together.

rooted RUSTIC Visual Merchandising

This in-store trend of rooted rustic was found being used in various stands in Berlin trade shows Seek & Premium. Taking inspiration from its surroundings, the theme latches onto the industrial aspects of the city and is transcended through various brands use of the trend in their visual merchandising. This trend uses industrial-inspired fixtures to adopt a refined chic feel, matching nicely with the superior nature that the trade shows project.

Premium trade show 2016 Berlin saw multiple brands such as LIEBESKIND BERLIN and PARAJUMPERS make use of it’s industrial man-made style exhibitor space, using features such as pipes and brick walls to showcase their products, and adding their own installations such as faux-concrete plinths to accompany their surrounding environment.

all of the lights Visual Merchandising Bright and bold lighting is key for visual merchandising this upcoming A/W16/17. This trend consists of metal designs in monochrome and neon shades, inspired by big city lights it’s demanding presence offers a creative edge to its surroundings.

This trend relies solely on the lights themselves, there are no colourful shades or overbearing stands to help accentuate and build upon the trend. It is so effective for this very reason.

perfectly poised Visual Merchandising

Operating as merchandising inspiration for anything from small-scale interiors through to fashion product, several exhibitors’ showcased innovative plinth or platform solutions curated en masse for maximum impact. These can be seen in a series of architecturally shaped wooden plinths as well as futuristic illuminated perspex styles.

Statement plinths are intended to double up as art, often referencing to architecture, design and craft through different shapes, forms and detailing. Exhibitors at trade shows such as SEEK and PREMIUM in Berlin February 2016, offer innovative statement plinths and fixtures which double up as eye-catching art pieces within retail displays.
