Sports in the mountains The Dolomites offer several opportunities as for excursions: hiking, climbing, mountain biking, trail running and paragliding. Molveno is also a starting point to discover almost 50 km of vie ferrate (hiking routes with cables), divided into 14 paths. As an alternative you can try climbing on 5 climbing walls, a boulder area and over 200 sports-and-classic climbing routes. 400 km of amazing routes, including both single track and enduro trails - part of the Dolomiti Paganella Bikes project - make Molveno the ideal place for mountain bike lovers. In 2015, in facts, one of the stages of the European Enduro Series was held in Molveno.

This picturesque mountain village gives you the chance to quietly walk along pedestrian ways, admiring the ancient historic centre, built around the church square. You can still find traditional footprints, such as Trentino-style balconies and volti a bott, on rural wood-and-stone houses, today converted into shops. From the benches in the church square you can also enjoy the amazing view of the lake and the Dolomites. Mushroom pickers are welcome too. Between July and November a variety of mushrooms grow in the local flat forests, including Chanterelles, Boletus edulis and parasol mushrooms. Pradel plateau, in the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, is particularly popular for mushrooms and breathtaking landscapes.

Mushroom-based dishes, such as risotto or home-made pasta, are among the most appreciated specialties. Other not-to-be-missed dishes are Canederli (typical bread-based dumplings), Carne Salada (cured and seasoned beef meat that is usually eat raw and thinly sliced), Ciuiga del Banale (cured sausages, made of pork meat, beef meat and turnips), Mortandela (the most typical cold cut of Val di Non), the Brook trout of the Alps and two local cheeses: Casolet and Spressa.

Visiting the old Taialacqua sawmill is a unique opportunity to rediscover the ancient trades. Outside the sawmill is a visitor center which provides lots of detailed information about the sawmill and the wood-related economy of Trentino.
