It would be hard to form a human community without consensus. To reach it, we need to come to terms with one another, to reach an agreement, which in this case is verbal communication, or the language. Language is what gives us the base. The mother tongue is apprehended subconsciously, without any thoughts and without knowing how. Communication plays a major role in this process. Copying a certain behavior, repeating words and actions, we learn how to verbalize our emotions and how to perceive and transmit feelings. In other words, the language is the instrument with which we construct our world. So what does the architectural language consist of? As we walk, we see, we touch, we feel the architectural figure. In fact most of our life is spent in human-made surroundings. The presence of the city, the street, the home in our stream of consciousness, called life, is amazing. A question that I ask myself is how those surroundings pass on character. Represented here are moments of my search to the answer of that question. Each project is an experience, a concentration of moods. If the end result is able to construct a picture of these moods, then it will be able to narrate. That would be a small step in humanizing the space around us.

I feel these lines like time travelling. Differing in age, direction and clearness, they present a picure of history. To me, design is something similar - concentration of time in a limited space.

The hotel was built in 1930, designed by Fingov and Nichev architects. The building is a cultural monument and example of the Secession style in Bulgaria. It is located at one of the oldest entries of the city of Sofia, called “Lavov mostsquare. The renovation purposes to ensure an appropriate functional and spatial organization within the old building, so that it will continue to be a hotel. The facade and the structure are retained and restored.

The home is place, where we all spend great part of our time. Imagine what trajectory one traces everyday in it. My aim here is to extend the dwelling path because by movement we experience our environment.

Originating from a student movement, it was an expression unlike others. Searching values in our architectural education, we wanted to question the straight-laced architectural comprehension honoured in our university.
