I officially become involved in politics in 2007 because I believed it was a way I could, voluntarily and for no personal gain, do something for my country and its people. I was elected to the National Council in 2008 and worked for five years as part of the opposition to defend a vision and specific positions with my colleagues, Christophe Steiner and Marc Alexandre Burini, which reflected our social liberal commitment. For nearly 13 months, I have been President of the National Council first, thanks to the confidence of my fellow citizens whose vote in February 2013 was decisive, and second, thanks to the confidence of my fellow elected members of the majority in the National Council. I have always considered the independence of our Principality achieved through a stable political system has also depended on healthy public finances. The influence of foreign communities, and of the foreign community in particular, has contributed to the success of Monacoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s economic and social model. Foreign entrepreneurs through their commitment and loyalty to the Principality have helped boost economic activity while being fully integrated in the social fabric and traditions of the Principality. In this respect, the economic and therefore social model of the Principality works well, but it depends on subtle balances and an essential diversification of our revenue, and, of course, a balanced distribution among the different business sectors, in which members of the foreign community take part. Monaco is clearly not immune to the difficulties that certain processing industries may encounter; authorities therefore need to provide a sufficient number of offices and industrial spaces in the years ahead to boost economic activity. This goes hand in hand with the considerable structural investments scheduled and an increase our Constitutional Reserve Fund, which is the only guarantee of our independence. The challenges in the next 20 years will depend on the Principalityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s ability to ensure sustainable economic growth particularly through the ambitious off-shore extension project whose technical, legal, economic and environmental conditions should be clearly stipulated, particularly in a law for which the National Council will be responsible. The National Council must play its full role as a main component of the state alongside the Princely Government of Monaco thanks to the confidence the people of Monaco gave us now nearly one year ago. I am working hard as President to meet these objectives.

BIC (Russia) took part in the official opening of the unique exhibition of engravings at the Center of Fine Arts

“Volhonka-Grand”. The Exhibition “Engraving. The imprints of the past”, which was opened on the December, 3rd is comparable with the best museum expositions of the country. This rare exhibition, provided by a private collectors, is exhibited for the first time. It can be found with more than 40 prints, dated XVI-XVII centuries. Dürer, Rubens, Carracci, Van Dyck, Tiepolo, Veronese, - the works of these great masters were exhibited in the premises of the “Volhonka-Grand”. This thought was expressed by well-known experts in the field of engraving and graphic arts at the press conference: Hromov Oleg Rostislavovich, Doctor of Arts, Head of Department of Research Institute of Theory and Methods of Fine Arts Arts; Pigott Georgiy Sergeevich, Senior Researcher GMZ “Tsaritsino”; Olga Glebova, a member of the National Society of Art Experts.
