Jarrett Crippen Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas Jarrett Crippen was born and raised in Austin, where he has been employed by the Austin Police Department as a
patrol officer, detective, and instructor. He has completed numerous leadership and communication seminars including the West Point Leadership Academy and the pub-
lic speaking seminar Say It Loud. His talents serve him well as the face and voice of the nonprofit SCARE for a
CURE, a haunted house adventure benefiting cancer chari-
ties. Jarrett and his wife Norma founded SCARE for a CURE, which got its start in the
Crippens’ backyard. In 2007, Jarrett—a self proclaimed comic book geek—was selected
as a cast member in Stan Lee’s SciFi Channel reality show, “Who Wants to be a Superhero.” He won the competition as “The Defuser” and was proclaimed the world’s next great superhero! Jarrett routinely travels around the country to emcee a variety of events, programs, and contests.
Griffin Davis The Trail Foundation Griffin Davis is a founding board member of the Trail
Foundation and served as its board president from 2005 to 2008. He currently chairs the foundation’s Campaign
for the Trail, a $5 million capital campaign raising funds to complete the trail around Lady Bird Lake. Austin City Councilwoman Sheryl Cole appointed Griffin to the 2012 Bond Election Advisory Task Force, and he serves on the
Parks and Open Space subcommittee. He has served on the advisory board of the Austin Parks Foundation and volunteered for many trail and park projects throughout
Austin. Griffin graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Virginia and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. He
and his wife Heather Keating live with their eight rescue animals near Zilker Park, and he runs by his favorite tree on the trail, a Blanco crabapple, as often as he can.

Lauren Espinoza Badgerdog Literary Publishing Lauren Espinoza has been working with Badgerdog Literary Publishing to foster the next generation of creative writers since her arrival in Austin, and she moved here
from the Rio Grande Valley to do just that. She believes in the transformative power that writing has on a student’s
life and is grateful to be able to engage in that through Badgerdog’s “Silver Voices in Ink” creative writing workshops
for senior citizens and its “Youth Voices in Ink” program. Badgerdog also publishes
the anthologies Transcend, Rise, and Emerge. Lauren is a student pursuing her Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in English Literature and Mexican-American Studies at the University of Texas Pan-American. Her work has been published in the
book Time You Let Me In: 25 Poets Under 25, in the journal Label Me Latina, and in a forthcoming NewBorder anthology.
Jenny Eversole Hospice Austin Jenny Eversole grew up in Kentucky. She married her high school sweetheart and after his college graduation
moved to Dallas, where they spent 29 years. Volunteering at Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital ICU waiting room in 2002,
Jenny learned that she can be with people who are in pain. She doesn’t believe this ability makes her good; it’s simply something she can do. After moving to Austin in 2005,
Jenny applied her gift as a volunteer at Hospice Austin, encountering patients who just
needed someone to sit by their side. She began working every Monday at Christopher
House where she arranged and delivered flowers, refreshed supply closets, and visited
with patients and their families. To Jenny, Christopher House is a very special place. Since 2006, Jenny has been a member of Les Amis, the fundraising arm of Hospice Austin and is honored to be serving this year as president of the organization.

Amrita Moor The Amala Foundation Amrita Moor and her family have lived in Austin for 20
years. For a decade they have stayed involved with the
Amala Foundation, a humanitarian organization that helps people realize their own personal transformation through
service to others. After being inspired by projects such as
Camp Indigo for children, Global Youth Peace Summit for refugee, immigrant, and local teens, the Bhatti Mines
School Project in India, and the San Quentin Prison Project, Amrita wanted to create a way for Amala to be more financially sustainable. Combining her passion for beautiful
spaces, her joy at finding thrift shop treasures, and her love of connecting with people, she created Nectar, a boutique that contributes 100 percent of its profits to the Amala Foundation and its local and global projects. She invites you to visit Nectar to find something beautiful and in turn do something beautiful for the world.
Kerri Morrison New Milestones Foundation Kerri Morrison is a one-woman volunteer powerhouse who transforms her outstanding visions into reality with
enthusiasm, charm, and an unfailing ability to galvanize people to action. Kerri has put her mark on the New Milestones Foundation’s annual fundraiser for the past three
years. She instituted online bidding and had Zoltan David craft a one-of-a-kind ring from donated gems and gold for
the event’s auction. She re-branded the annual gala so that the community would recognize the organization’s role in raising funds to bridge gaps in mental health services.
Kerri brought the New Milestones Foundation to Facebook and garnered tremendous TV and print publicity with contests for the foundation to reach untapped audiences.
Thanks to Kerri’s outreach, the foundation has benefited from increased participation on its board, volunteerism, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.

Misty O’Neal Texas Hearing and Service Dogs Misty O’Neal was born and raised in Austin. As a baby, she was diagnosed with a terminal illness called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a form of Muscular Dystrophy. Doctors told her parents she would not live past the age
of four. Misty is now 34 years old, and while she struggles
with many health issues, she has always wanted to give back to the community. In 2001, Misty acquired her first
service dog, Nellie, from Texas Hearing and Service Dogs. With Nellie, Misty gave presentations about the benefits of using shelter animals and positive training at Animal Behavior Management Association conferences around the nation. Misty never lets her disability get in her way and has made sure her life is full of things to do. In 2011, Misty
acquired her successor service dog, Intrepid, and enjoys training with him and promoting shelter dog adoption as a volunteer for Texas Hearing and Service Dogs.
Mary Ann Parker Assistance League® of Austin Mary Ann Parker has served Assistance League® of Austin
since 2006, accepting multiple committee appointments and elected board positions. Her contributions to ALA’s success include dynamic public relations strategies for enhanced recognition, membership initiatives for developing
the volunteer base, and collaborative designs for expanding programs. She earned the nickname “Energizer Bun-
ny,” as no job is too large or small for her to tackle, and she never declines when tapped to give her special brand of attention to a need or request. In her current role as ALA’s
Vice President of Strategic Planning, Mary Ann’s talents have been most obvious. Her
ability to find common ground and tie achievement strategies to organizational goals have led to the creation of a comprehensive five-year strategic plan for growing ALA’s philanthropic base and increasing the impact of its programs.

Jimmy Shields The Christi Center Jimmy Shields spent almost 30 years as an active United Way volunteer campaign chair and board member. After
the devastating loss of his young daughter Amy in a car wreck, Jimmy and his family found hope and healing at
The Christi Center, a grief support organization. Committed to making sure every grieving person has access to the
same support, Jimmy put his corporate management and
fundraising skills to work as board president of The Christi Center. Jimmy’s leadership
not only helped solidify the financial and strategic sustainability of the organization, but
also made The Christi Center’s expansion to a second Williamson County site possible.
With a calling to provide comfort and support to anyone adjusting to life after the death of a loved one, Jimmy also transitioned to a new professional role as Director of Family Services for Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery and Prayer Gardens.
Ted Whatley Breakthrough Austin Ted Whatley has spent 10 years as a board member, fundraiser, and college coach for Breakthrough Austin, an organization helping low-income students become first-gen-
eration college graduates. Despite the advice of his high school principal to forget about college, Ted graduated from Harvard University with two degrees and became a
headmaster. In 1988, he returned to Austin and began two
decades of community service, including a stint on the Austin ISD board of trustees from 1992 to 2000. When Breakthrough’s founding executive director asked Ted to help
her launch the organization, there was no hesitation because he had spent eight years
observing the loss of so many young people from the education pipeline. Since 2001,
Breakthrough Austin has expanded, now serving close to 500 kids, including 150 high school graduates, many of whom are in college today.
