The Master of Professional Accounting is perfect if you’re a young professional or a recent graduate. In this degree, you’ll cover the full spectrum of business, financial and management accounting – giving you a broad understanding that’ll complement your other studies. You’ll also spend time learning the latest business practices while developing a more general professional skill set.

The course is structured in three parts. Part A. Advanced preparatory, Part B. Mastery knowledge and Part C. Application studies.

Part A. Advanced preparatory (24 credit points)

Part B. Mastery knowledge (60 credit points)

Part C. Application studies (12 credit points)

Four units: – Introduction to financial accounting – Business communication for accounting professionals – Economics – Business statistics

Nine units: – Strategic management accounting – Accounting information systems – Financial accounting – Management accounting – Advanced financial accounting – Auditing and assurance – Business finance – Business and company law – Taxation law One capstone experience from the following: – Integrated accounting – International study program in accounting – Industry placement* (6 or 12 points)

You must complete two units of electives from the following list: – Management control systems – Forensic accounting and fraud examination – Financial statement analysis and business valuation – Financial reporting issues – Integrated systems for business enterprises – Applied contemporary accounting – Case studies in risk management – Global financial markets – Corporate treasury management – Introduction to risk management – Integrated accounting – Business analytics – Business insights from data analysis – Engaging with international business – Australia – Advanced derivatives – International study program in accounting – Industry placement (12 points)

* Students who select to undertake the 12 point option as their capstone experience will only need to complete one unit (6 points) for Part C.

Entry requirements

Where could it lead?

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 or an equivalent GPA as determined by the School. You’ll be ranked and selected based on your entire academic record.

This degree will strengthen your CV for any business role, working alongside other studies to give you a more comprehensive picture of the way businesses operate across public, private and government sectors. You’ll also be qualified to take an accounting role.

Applicants who have completed relevant discipline units in an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) may be eligible for credit for advanced preparatory units on the basis of recognised prior learning (RPL).

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at the required standard
