A passion for chocolate for 3 generations For three generations, the Guattaris, Louis – the founder, Jean – the developer and Yves – the man who introduced the brand, and the current CEO, have combined a respect for tradition and a continuous passion to chocolate innovation. Each and every day, MONBANA strives to create exceptional products so that the journey undertaken by real chocolate enthusiasts to discover new flavours always guarantees them the pleasure of a high quality chocolate.

A delicious history… In 1934, Louis Guattari founded the company MONBANA, specialising in the manufacture of cocoa butter. It rapidly expanded its know-how to roasting and pressing the beans and then on to the development of cocoa powder for breakfast drinks. The development of the brand continued under the leadership of Jean Guattari, who diversified the know-how of the firm by launching a line of premium confectionery, which quickly became the most expensive in all Paris. 1978 saw the creation of the first small chocolate squares, which have now become an indispensable accompaniment for coffee.

In 2001, Yves Guattari became CEO and began to reposition the MONBANA brand. He opened up the company to the international markets and the general public with sales in delicatessen stores and today the opening of MONBANA boutiques, as well as the launch of several new ranges, from flavoured chocolate powders to the creation of a line of exceptional gourmet chocolates. In 2011, MONBANA’s expertise in producing fine chocolates was rewarded by three “Fèves d’Or”, thus consecrating MONBANA as one of the “Best Chocolate-makers of France”.

Apart from making recipes, MONBANA’s master chocolate maker Vincent Lechevallier also likes to create artistic pieces in chocolate. What’s more, with imaginative input from designer Eva Rachline, he also made a sublime chocolate dress worn by Malika Ménard (Miss France 2010) during the Salon du Chocolat in 2011.

Quality, Expertise & Innovation All our chocolates are made from a selection of the very best varieties of cocoa, specially selected by MONBANA from Ivory Coast and South America, in particular. All our recipes are made in France, in Mayenne (53), at our two production sites (Ernée and Landivy). MONBANA guarantees quality products: 100% pure cocoa butter chocolate and carefully selected ingredients (Isigny Caramel, Californian almonds, etc.). This excellence and the intense flavours of its chocolates have meant that MONBANA has established itself as the benchmark in the market for coffee accompaniment products and as the expert in chocolate drinks. MONBANA pursues an ongoing quest for improvement, and received IFS-BRC certification in 2010, together with numerous awards for the organoleptic quality of its products with the “Saveurs de l’année” prize in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and three “Fèves d’Or” in 2011.
