everkusen’s BayArena now features a new sound experience. Since the 2021/22 Bundesliga season kicked off, loudspeakers and power amplifiers from Coda Audio’s portfolio have provided a state-of-the-art sound reinforcement for visitors and the players on the field alike at the home ground of Bundesliga football club, Bayer 04
Leverkusen. The BayArena sees itself as a modern sports venue with a model character, where top-class football can be experienced at a close proximity: With a total capacity of 30,210 seats (4,500 of which are standing room), the distance from the furthest seat to the field’s centre is only 94 metres – in hardly any other Bundesliga stadium are viewers this close to the action on the field. Spanning the spectator stands is a self-supporting ring cable roof with a diameter of 215 metres and a surface area of 28,000 square metres. With a roof depth of up to 70 metres, the Makrolon roof skin – a development by Bayer – extends beyond the stands and offers visitors protection even from inclement weather. Eight pairs of diagonal supports carry the entire roof structure and create the impression of a “floating” roof.
