SHA Emirates at AlJurf UAE

SHA Wellness Clinic has announced the second phase of its global expansion plan, with SHA Emirates at AlJurf scheduled to open in 2023.

Developed in partnership with Abu Dhabi based place-maker Imkan, the AED600 million project is located midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai along the Sahel Al Emarat – known as the ‘Riviera of the UAE’ – and comprises 120 suites and 293 residential units together with a private beach, marina and community centre.

SHA Emirates will follow a biophilic approach, with Mangera Yvars Architects and Brewer Smith Brewer Group developing a concept that connects with nature through elegant curves, soft-layered edges and cascading hanging gardens. Spanning 125,000m 2 , the resort will also make use of local materials and inbuilt features that limit its carbon footprint.

“After a decade transforming the lives of thousands of people from around the world at our current location in Spain, we dreamt of crossing the seas to new continents. We wanted more and more people to benefit from our philosophy of integrative health and wellbeing,” comments Alejandro Bataller Pineda, Vice President of SHA Wellness Clinic. “For years we travelled to dozens of locations in search of the perfect nature, warm weather and accessibility to replicate SHA. It was not easy, but we finally found everything we could imagine and more at the seaside destination of AlJurf. The luxury development is surrounded by wildlife and nestled in a beautiful serene landscape. It’s the perfect place for people looking to escape city life and recuperate.”

SHA Emirates at AlJurf will follow in the footsteps of the original SHA Wellness Clinic in Alicante, as well as a recently announced venture in Mexico, due to open in 2021. The brand was created around the ethos of improving and extending the health of its guests through pioneering clinical methods and treatments, with the expansion plan developed to reflect consumer demand to place health and wellbeing at the forefront of all areas of life – business and personal.

Qetaifan Island North Floating Hotels DOHA

EXPRESS CHECK-OUT Developer: Qetaifan Projects, Admares Operator: Katara Hospitality Architecture: Sigge Architects www.qetaifanprojects.com

In preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Qetaifan Projects, a Katara Hospitalityowned company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with real estate firm Admares for the construction and operation of 16 floating hotels on the shores of Qetaifan Island North.

Designed by Finland-based Sigge Architects, the units will measure 72m long and 16m wide, each comprising 101 guestrooms, a restaurant and lounge bar. All 16 four-storey hotels will be identical, offering a total of 1,616 floating hotel rooms. They will also be built in accordance with strict sustainability standards and powered by solar energy for minimum ecological impact.

“This is the first time ever that pure floating real estate has been used as a temporary solution for accommodation needs at this scale,” says Mikael Hedberg, CEO of Admares. “These hotels do not require major ports and deep water as their draft is significantly less than large cruise ships. After the World Cup, they can be placed at any coastal location where the water is at least 4m deep. We are excited to be part of the solution for the amount of accommodation needed for the tournament.”

H.E. Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman AlThani, Managing Director of Qetaifan Projects and Vice Chairman of Katara Hospitality, adds: “We are pleased that there are investors who share our vision and see the development of Qetaifan Island North as a promising project that has a future as the first touristic destination in Qatar.”

Located within close proximity of Lusail City and Lusail International Stadium – the latter set to host the opening and final games of the World Cup – Qetaifan Island North is a waterfront hub that aims to provide all the needs of tourists and fans during the tournament, from luxury accommodation to retail, dining, entertainment and beaches.

The Royal Senses Resort & Spa

CRETE

EXPRESS CHECK-OUT Operator: Troulis Royal Collection Architecture: Peppas N Architects Interior Design: HBA, Studio Lost www.troulisroyalcollection.com

Troulis Royal Collection has announced that its newest addition, The Royal Senses Resort & Spa, will open in Summer 2020.

Located close to the village of Panormos next to its sister property – the recently renovated Royal Blue – the new venture seeks to combine Crete’s rich heritage with exceptional experiences. The architectural scheme is being headed up by Peppas N Architects with interiors by HBA and Constantina Tsoutsikou, founder and Creative Director of Studio Lost.

The property harmonises with the island’s landscape, with the celebration of Cretan roots the main driving force behind the overall architectural and design approach. For Zacharias, Kostas and Manolis Troulis, co-owners of the Troulis Royal Collection, the project showcases their lifelong dedication to Crete: “We are fully committed to our responsibility to the island, its people and our cultural heritage. We wish to show guests all sides of the Cretan identity and embed ourselves purposefully into the texture of the island.”

Nikos Peppas and Katerina Tsiolaki of Peppas N Architects add: “The landscape’s rough beauty creates a juxtaposition with the clean, minimal lines of the buildings. We designed and positioned all buildings in such way that ensures unobstructed views to the endless blue of the Aegean Sea, wherever you are.” Built with togetherness as a guiding principle, the resort’s 179 suites and villas connect seamlessly with their natural surroundings. Accommodations range from 35m 2 rooms characterised by sea views and natural materials, to spacious 200m 2 villas featuring private infinity pools organically carved from the rock that surrounds the island. Further amenities include four large swimming pools, an activity spa, four bars and three restaurants, and a marketplace – home to curated selections from small-farm producers and local artisans.
