ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE CONGRESS INDUSTRY – INSIGHTS FROM THE EXPERTS

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being increasingly utilized in the congress industry to enhance efficiency and success. We aim to explore the various applications of AI in the congress industry and the associated opportunities and risks. We sought the opinions of experts in the field.

EXAMPLES OF AI:

What is Artificial Intelligence?

AI, short for „Artificial Intelligence,“ refers to the capability of machines and computers to simulate human-like intelligence and decision-making processes. AI algorithms and technologies rely on processing large volumes of data and applying statistical and mathematical models to identify patterns and relationships and make predictions.

RISKS:

• Ethical concerns arising from the unethical use of AI-based technologies

• Potential lack of acceptance by participants

• Competition to adopt the latest and most effective AI-based technologies

EXPERT PERSPECTIVES

SISSY ASCHENBACH COLUMBUS Congress & Events

Artificial intelligence has been a topic of interest for some time now and is gaining increasing prominence, on platforms such as chatGPT. AI can undoubtedly bring benefits to the congress industry, particularly in automating processes. In the future, we can expect faster, more efficient, and accurate preparations, freeing up time for more complex tasks. However, caution is necessary as AI cannot (yet) replace interpersonal skills.

When experts gather at a congress, networking, exchanging ideas, and reconnecting with former colleagues are vital aspects that AI will unlikely fulfill. AI can offer support in various areas, enabling personalized education and tailoring congresses to specific target audiences.

In my opinion, it is still premature to determine the full extent of AI‘s influence on the congress industry. Nevertheless, it is already evident that changes are underway.

STEFAN WALTER MONDIAL Congress & Events

We closely monitor the advancements in AI. Congresses are complex in terms of organization and highly individual in terms of structure and culture. The essence of a congress lies primarily in human-to-human interaction.

Therefore, I currently do not perceive a threat of AI replacing congresses. Instead, we see initial applications as a „personal assistant for project managers“ to enhance process efficiency and communication, in „project marketing“ to develop innovative concepts, or to effectively analyze data and strategies. Moreover, individual chatbots could further enhance participants‘ engagement in congresses.

Between Hustle and Bustle and Tradition

As an integral part of Viennese culture and history, the Prater is valued for its diversity, entertainment, and historical significance. Whether you want to indulge in the thrill of the rides, host a successful business meeting, or enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, the Prater offers something for everyone and remains a popular destination for people from all over the world.

PRATER RECREATION AREA

The history of the Prater dates back to the 16th century when it served as a hunting ground for the emperor. Over time, it transformed into a public park open to all. The Prater quickly became one of Vienna‘s most beloved destinations, attracting locals and visitors from around the world.

PRATER AMUSEMENT AREA

The „Wurstelprater“ is the famous amusement in the northwestern part of the recreational zone of the Prater. It is documented as the „Volksprater“ since 1825. The amusement park derived its name from a character in folk theater, the „Hanswurst.“

Another notable attraction and landmark within the „Wurstelprater“ is the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel. It was built in 1897 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I reign and was one of the world‘s largest Ferris wheels at the time.

The Hanswurst is a comical, rustic figure in German-language comedy. It appeared as a popular peasant character in fairgrounds and traveling theater plays. „Hanswurst“ was and still is used as a mocking term.

PRATER BUSINESS AREA

In recent years, the Prater surroundings have experienced significant development. Through numerous renovations and redesigns, the area has become vibrant and youthful. However, the Prater is not only about recreation and amusement but also increasingly plays a role in hosting events, meetings, and congresses. Besides numerous hotels, one of Austria‘s largest and most important trade fair centers is located in the Prater area. With state-ofthe-art infrastructure covering around 73,000 m², the Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center is a vital economic asset for Vienna.

The Superbude (page 23) serves as an excellent example of how a hotel can seamlessly integrate into an urban district. It is located in the Stuwerviertel, a vibrant, ever-evolving neighborhood. Once having a somewhat questionable reputation, the area has undergone a transformation. New gastronomy, bars, and the University of Economics are part of the change, embracing the new while honoring the old. Moreover, within the „Wurstelprater“ itself, different event venues can be found for relaxed meetings, creative events, or successful celebrations. Whether it‘s a wedding dinner at Luftburg-Kolarik in the Prater, a press conference in the Giant Ferris Wheel Panorama, or a company party in Waggon-31, the options are diverse.

CONCLUSION

Overall, the Prater is a place full of history, culture, and fun, enjoyed by locals and tourists.

The exhibition area also offers accommodation options for smaller meetings. Numerous hotels have established themselves around the exhibition area.

From the classics to modern Christmas songs, this playlist has something for everyone.

• 100 ml gin

• 800 ml naturally cloudy apple juice or normal apple juice

• 1 cm thick piece of ginger

• 3 cinnamon sticks

• 4 cloves

• 2 star anise

• 2 organic oranges

1. Pour apple juice into a large pot.

2. Squeeze oranges and add to pot along with the orange zest.

3. Cut ginger into thin slices and add

4. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise to the juice.

5. Simmer everything over medium heat for 20 minutes.

6. Important: the liquid must not boil!

7. Finally, add the gin and pour the concoction into cups.

Not every Schnitzel is a Wiener Schnitzel! In a private cooking class, you can learn all the tricks to prepare the perfect Schnitzel or treat yourself to a tasting experience.

A young pastry chef once had a vision: to create a unique, unsurpassed cake for His Majesty. The result: an eye-catching, unprecedented square cake - the Imperial Torte. To this day, the original recipe is top secret. Would you like to prepare and decorate this Austrian delicacy yourself? Of course, you can indulge in a tasting afterward.

Valuable exhibits, Viennese porcelain, and an impressive historic kiln will immerse you in the original craft traditions and the rich history of the traditional Augarten Porcelain company, which has been in existence for over 300 years. A private guided factory tour, including porcelain painting and a figurine workshop, provides the perfect opportunity to experience this firsthand.
