PROLOUGE A good building is not necessary toloom humbly in the environment ,neither should it outmatch all the environmental factors at the site. In my opinion, a decent architecture ought to act as a mediator between environment and people, an intermediary, an information carrier of various cultures, and a certain ingredient the site lacks and needs.

01.CANOPY
This recreational center is featured with a big canopy system. It can be conditioned by the operable facade system and these umbrellas. At the same time, you can easily see what is going on inside through the envelope, which is a welcoming gesture for the whole campus. And from the perspective inside, the spatial perimeter is blurred.
Now, when you walk into this cal state university in an area that is slightly cold all over the year, Most of the buildings you are going encounter have a similar tedious look and you will probably need to be ready for the unpredictable weather outside. So a place could end this boredom for them is probably going to be very popular. And it could be even better when it can provide a more comfortable environment than the outside. So that's where we came up with this Canopy structure. Not only does it offers spatial opportunities and micro climite control, but also, The views, the breeze from the ocean, the sunlight, and the surrounding landscape are introduced and interpreted through it into the building.

02.ORIGAMI
Thinking about building a roof that doesn’t simply cover these Ancient ruins, and transforming it into various architectural elements that can define particular functions for space like walls, ramps or furniture. All of the spaces will be generated from a uniformed entity and connected to each other. It is all about “fluency” and “integrity”.
Lima, the capital and the largest city of Peru, is located in the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by the hills. From the Inca Empire era to the Spanish colonial period, various cultures have left their significant marks here. As a city with a long history, there are abundant resources of historical sites around it.Among all of them, Huacas is probably the most special but neglected sites. For most of them, the cultural and tourist value hasn’t been exploited properly.

02.HIGH RISE OFFICE IN SHENZHEN
This project is High rise office design for a big national corporate company in China. And it has been 5 years since the project initiated. So when I was in the team, we mainly worked on the construction design phase and revised multiple version of plans, sections, and details while collaborating with the local design team.
The crucial part of the design is the sky lobbies for thousands of the employees in the building to take a break, have their meal and enjoy the view. It comes with a lot of challenges both in the interior & exterior and of course the facade. And I learned a lot working under the instruction of my supervisor.
Also, we put a huge effort into figuring on the ground level. The clients required to have a bus station underneath the podium, which makes it extra complicated to coordinate the circulation on the site.
For the landscape, we tried our best to make the ground floor as interesting as possible, there are exercise areas and an inner yard. People walk between platforms and they easily locate themselves because of the regular plan shape.
In general, it was the first time for me to participant in such a big scale real project. I learned about skills, codes and the way how it works when so many different teams are involved. It's a valuable experience for me.

The project is located at a site with apparent contradiction between a dense concrete forest and a lush greenbelt, which provided this project a unique advantage and certain gap that needed to surpassed.Through visual guidance on different levels to various views of nature and landscape design at outdoor terrace, this highrise building creates an illusion to residents that they are actually sunrrounded by trees/lakes in the nature which is in reality a bit far from them. *Individual Design Work
Cao's Classic Psychological Trick The well-known historical n ov e l < T h r e e K i n g d o m s > told a an stor y that the General Cao's army were desperatly thirsty during the constant march.In order to get to the distination,Cao commanded the officer to tell the sodiers that there were a forest of plum trees,and they could get the plums to console ourselves soon if they keep marching on,which s u r p r i s i n g l y b o o ste d t h e morale of the whole army.
Unbelievable Borrowing Scenery The ancient Chinese artisens who built these gorgerous classic gardens in Suzhou already captured the essence of borrowing scenery and various design methods to implement it hundreads o f y e a r s a g o .T h e c l a s s i c visual guidance techniques and landscape settlements they used in the garden in the picture could make you believe that the tower is in the garden yet actually it is kilometers away from the garden.
Prospect of application of these techniques
Inspired by the psychological principle exposed by Cao's story and the traditional borrowing scenery method, the core conception of this projection is how to use settlements of landscape and visual guidance in a contemporary level and lead the people in the building to believe that they are surrounded by an actual forest so that their attitude towards works or life will become more positive because of the comfortable environment.
Types of Tradinonal View Borrowing
1.Scene from both sides
2.Scene from other side
3.Scene from short-range
4.Scene from long-range
5.Scene from Reflection
5.Seasonal Scene
The types of Borrowing View fall broadly into two categories:Directly Borrowing from Scenes can be directly seen and Indirect Borrowing from the reflections in a lake or a mirror.

In order to support the effect of visual guidance, this projection also use the unique appreciation way of Chinese paintings for reference.Ancient ascots places bonsai in front of these painting as the extension of it just the effect popular 3d movie.
Versions of Landscape seen from Different Height on the site
The higher the position is on the site, the more expansive the visual field is.As the position gets higher, the traffic road, the forest, the moutains, and the lake appear in turn. And what the design need to consider is how to make people in each floor of the rise to get the best experiences of environment.

No enough Public Space!
This project is located at three old and worn residensial blocks which are long forgotten by the government to improve the environment .After a in-depth research studying main challenges the residents are facing, the aim is to upgrade the living standard with prolonging the sunshine duration of public space, incurring more fresh air into the compounds, and recreating different types of public space to suit needs of specific activities.thus activating the whole community .

Daylight Analysis
Crowd Distribution Analysis
Wind Direciton Analysis
At 9:00, the daylight could barely reach streets on the site, which might cause unconviences for some activities.
At 9:00, crowds are mainly distributed on the eastern street of the site for breakfast o r o n t h e way t o t h e i r w o r k .
At altitude of 1500mm,there are few ventilations on the site,so the wind flowing can't smoothly get through the area.
At 15:00, as the angle and direction of the sunlight changes, part of areas could acquire enough sunshine for some activities such as hanging.
At 15:00, the density of crowds near the site gets higher, cause both of the main streets near the site are a major commercial streets of the city.
At altitude of 4500mm, the number of ventilation on the site increases. But still the wind flowing could meet obvious obtacles on the site.
At 18:00,though most of areas the site could get the straight sunlight, the luminance of the sun in the sunset isn't bright enough anymore.
At 18:00,there are more crowds in the street of the site.residents here get back from work or school, then have dinner or excersice outside.
At altitude of 7500mm,the barriers the wind could met are much less. Wind speed the air condition there is more comfortable.

functions
From these analysis above, here comes the conclusion of the most urgent needs for the people there which have three aspects-prolonging the duration of daylight, improve the windflow situation, and seperate these conflicting functions into different spaces.
Core Conception
In order to meet these needs ,industrial-producted concrate pipes are chosen to replace the abondoned cells in the apartment. So there are more public spaces for the whole residential blocks, and where the environments are much better than the streets.

03. REDEFINING NATURE
This project is located at a tiny forest near a lake where used to be a park for people live around to take outside actibities.to rennovate this park into a studio space for architecture students, types of activities are analyzed in relation to different tree types on site. A certain pattern was found between them, which leaded to a solution of how to arrange the spatial series of this project. *Individual Design Work
Three types of Trees Defining the space
1.Tree as Monument
2.Tree as Wall
3.Tree as Sculpture
Basic to the detribution of certain types of different trees, various functionalareas on this site are determined spontaneously.
Location of Three types of Trees
1.Location for Monumental Trees
2.Location for Blocking Trees
3.Location for Scuptural Trees
At the same time, spaces with various functions in a studio also demand a variety of private level, which builds the connection between the project and the original site.

By analyzing and comparing the hierarchy in both the private level certain functional spaces in a studio need and the private level certain area the forest could provide,an inner spatial definition could be found for further arrangment of the spaces in the projection.
Functions of Containers
Plan Layout Study of Containers According to the measure of cargos, various of plane layouts for certain function are designed ,which subtly decided the flow lines in these cargos.
Models of different Cargos
How these cargos could be linked to each other is also decided by the settled flow lines in them, which is just like the puzzle plates connected with each other in a certain way.
Attempts to Follow the Spatial Series Defined by Environment After discovering the inner spatial arrangement by detribution of trees, the design process moved on the stage that using the modulized plane layouts of the containers to follow the spatial pattern in the forest.
