How to Choose Authentic Virgin Hair Extensions Whether you are brand new to wearing hair extensions or a pro, it can be a daunting task to choose the right hair extensions, as there are a number of hair suppliers on the market. Many retailers claim they offer real, authentic, or virgin Remy Indian hair. But the reality is that the majority of suppliers are providing their customers with hair that has been chemically processed, or even animal hair, and trying to pass it off as “natural.” So how can you choose authentic virgin hair extensions? Inspect For Hair Cuticles Virgin hair extensions that have not been chemically processed should have the cuticles on the hair that are easily detectable. How do we inspect for cuticles? In order to feel for hair cuticles, you should glide your fingers up and down the hair shaft. The strands of the hair should feel smooth as you move in a downward direction through the hair. However, if you were to move in the opposite direction, going upward, you should notice some resistance. The resistance means that the natural cuticle is present, and has not been removed. Non-‐Uniformity in Color and Texture While every human head of hair is different, no grade of hair is ever the same hair color or texture. For example, there is no such thing as jet-‐black hair. Even if someone has black, or a very dark brown hair texture, if you inspect closely, you will notice varying degrees of brown. If you look at your hair bundle, and notice that is all the exact same color, then it is not authentic virgin hair. Moreover, no one person has perfectly uniform grade of texture throughout their hair. Some people can have upwards to two or three textures, depending on if the hair is located in the middle, nape, or front of the head. So check for irregularities in the hair texture in your bundle. Can You Dye It Any virgin hair can be dyed any color. If you attempt to dye your purchased hair, and it does not change color, then you know with absolute certainty that it is not authentic virgin hair. If you dye your extensions, and notice that they become frizzy and tangled from the process, then you know that you have not received authentic virgin hair extensions. In addition, you should take note of the color that your dyed hair becomes when you attempt to dye it. If you dye blonde hair, and it immediately turns a green or grey hue, then it is definitely not real virgin hair. These are just a few tips to know if you are, in fact, purchasing authentic virgin hair. Purchasing virgin hair can be expensive, so it’s advised that you order samples before shelling out your funds on an entire bundle. Be wary of any vendor who claims that they do not provide samples. Keeping the above tips in mind, you should be well prepared to go purchase your beautiful authentic virgin hair extensions. Happy shopping.
