MARKET WRAP The market has ended lower. The Sensex ended down 262.08 points or 1.1 percent at 23758.90 and the Nifty down 82.50 points or 1.1 percent at 7215.70. About 638 shares have advanced, 2010 shares declined, and 109 shares are unchanged. L&T, Coal India, Maruti, Reliance and Tata Steel were top gainers while Tata Motors, SBI, Hindalco, Cipla and Adani Ports were losers in the Sensex.

STOCK UPDATE Eros International Media Shares Slump 10% on Weak Q3 Eros International Media shares slumped 10 per cent on Wednesday after the movie distributor reported 65 per cent fall in its net profit during the December quarter. Eros' posted a net profit of Rs 38 crore on sales of Rs 335 in Q3 compared to a net profit of Rs 109 crore on sales of Rs 491 crore in the year-ago quarter. "Eros announced its Q3 earnings, which was affected by seasonality (only 1 big movie versus 3 in the same quarter of last year) and deferment of high margin catalogue sales," said brokerage Maybank. Catalogue sales refer to the sale of new movies to television channels.

Prestige Estates Shares Sink on Q3 Profit Drop Prestige Estates shares fell as much as 8.2 per cent to hit fresh 52-week low of Rs 156.65 after the company reported a 78 per cent fall in its net profit during the December quarter.
The Bangalore-based real estate developer on Tuesday posted a net profit of Rs 63.60 crore on total income of Rs 980 crore. Prestige Estates had reported a profit of Rs 293 crore on sales of 3,527 crore during the same period last financial year.
Limited new launches in the first nine months of FY16 led to lower revenue realizations, Religare said in a note to its clients. Prestige Estates' pre-sales revenue of Rs 500 crore was 11 per cent lower than estimates, the brokerage said.
