MARKET WRAP The market slide sharply. The Sensex is down 807.07 points or 3.4 percent at 22951.83 and the Nifty slips 239.35 points or 3.3 percent at 6976.35. About 342 shares have advanced, 2343 shares declined, and 93 shares are unchanged. Tata Motors, BHEL, Adani Ports, ONGC and Hindalco were top losers in the Sensex while Cipla, Bharti Airtel and Dr Reddy's were gainers.

STOCK UPDATE Dr Reddy's Lab Shares Jump On Buyback Plan Dr Reddy's Lab shares jumped over 3 per cent on Thursday on hopes of a share buyback plan. "A meeting of the board of directors of the company will be held on February 17, 2016...to consider the buyback of equity shares of the company," said Dr Reddy's Lab. Traders say Dr Reddy's buyback plan is aimed to lift sentiments in the company's shares, which have been hammered down because of concerns over the fate of three of company's manufacturing units. These units are under the scanner of US drug regulator for quality issues. Shares of India's second biggest drugmaker are down 31 per cent in last six months as compared to the 14 per cent fall in the benchmark Nifty Pharma index.

STOCK UPDATE Prestige Estates Shares Sink on Q3 Profit Drop Prestige Estates shares fell as much as 8.2 per cent to hit fresh 52-week low of Rs 156.65 after the company reported a 78 per cent fall in its net profit during the December quarter.
The Bangalore-based real estate developer on Tuesday posted a net profit of Rs 63.60 crore on total income of Rs 980 crore. Prestige Estates had reported a profit of Rs 293 crore on sales of 3,527 crore during the same period last financial year.
Limited new launches in the first nine months of FY16 led to lower revenue realizations, Religare said in a note to its clients. Prestige Estates' pre-sales revenue of Rs 500 crore was 11 per cent lower than estimates, the brokerage said.
