Going Home
A collection
by Sarah Jackson
This collection was inspired by my childhood home in the coastal mountains of California. The twisting mountain roads to get home, the surrounding redwoods and tanoaks, and the succulents along my mother’s garden walk have all breathed life into these patterns. Come with me and experience the wonder of the forest, the exhilaration of a rope swing, and the colorful beauty of the neighbor’s peacock.
Development Process First I gather my inspiration for shapes and colors. For this particular collection, it meant ooking through photos from my childhood, as well as more recent photos of the flora and fauna around my parents’ home. Next I begin to sketch and sketch and sketch in pencil. After I am satisfied with the direction my sketches are going, I trace and adapte my them digitally. Finally I arrange them in patterns and apply the beautiful color palattes.
