• Integrated design services. We combine the disciplines of planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture in the development and implementation of designs. Our knowledge of the complete process enables us to handle every aspect of planning, design, and construction. • The combined disciplines of architecture and landscape architecture. For more than 25 years, we have focused on a symbiotic relationship between buildings and their landscapes. We create timeless designs that fit in their settings, whether natural or manmade. • A collaborative approach to project design. Collaboration is a fundamental principle that guides our firm. We work collaboratively with our clients to create buildings and landscapes that respond to their specific objectives within the constraints of schedule and budget. • Intrinsically sustainable projects. We have been designing sustainable buildings and landscapes since the early 1980s, long before the U.S. Green Building Council proposed guidelines for sustainability. Our designs for buildings and sites are intrinsically sustainable, relating to climate and the environment in regionally-appropriate ways. We understand every aspect of the LEED certification process. • Commitment to craft and quality. We are committed to the craft of building — to quality control in every aspect of our work. Senior members of the firm are involved in the design and construction of each commission to assure that the craft embodied in the drawings is realized in the completed project. Peter Gisolfi Associates is a place of learning, modeled after design studios in schools of architecture. The members of our staff of architects, landscape architects and designers learn from each other, from the world at large, and from our clients and their projects. Our firm is sized to provide focused, personal service to each of our clients. LIVINGSTON RIPLEY WATERFOWL CONSERVANCY

ABOUT THE FIRM firm history

Peter Gisolfi founded Peter Gisolfi Associates in 1976 to offer services in architecture and landscape architecture. He started the firm with a total staff of four. By 1980, the firm had grown to 15. In 1985, the firm became a partnership between Peter Gisolfi and Christopher Wadsworth with a staff of 30. By 1990, the firm had grown to 35, and its services were expanded to include interior design. Over the next decade, Frank Craine, Michael Tribe, and Sandra Mintzes became partners, and two associate partners were added. During the period of economic stability in the early part of the decade, the firm grew to its maximum size of 53. During the economic downturn that followed, staffing was reduced and maintained at between 30 and 32. Today, Peter Gisolfi Associates is a limited liability partnership with three partners, two partners emeriti, two associate partners, and four senior associates. The firm has been steadily growing, and is currently at 36 including professionals, administrators, and support staff. In the early years, the office worked predominantly for independent home owners, housing developers, corporations such as IBM, and hotels. In the later 1980s, the focus of our work shifted to academic institutions, as well as cultural, civic, and community buildings. We also began providing services in campus and master planning. We are known for successfully completing projects with many prominent independent schools, public schools throughout Westchester County and Long Island, colleges and universities, and public libraries. The work of the firm has received more than 85 design awards and citations since 1988, and has been published in newspapers, magazines, and books approximately 170 times since 1980. Peter Gisolfi has written more than 110 articles on design issues which have been featured in national publications such as Learning by Design, American School Board Journal, Landscape Architecture, American School & University, School Planning & Management, College Planning & Management, Terrain, History Magazine, and Planning Magazine. He has lead numerous workshops on campus planning, school design, and library design, and has been invited frequently as a speaker, guest lecturer, critic, and juror. His first book, Finding the Place of Architecture in the Landscape was published in 2008 by Images Publishing for their Master Architects Series. His most recent book, Collaborative Library Design from Planning to Impact, was published by the ALA. It focuses on collaborative design and the roles of administrators, librarians, and architects in creating successful libraries.
