LOW MAINTENANCE, FEMININE CHIC Adding a little more “fem” to your world should be easy but be clear we’re talking about womanly femininity, not girly fru-fru. There are a few style notes to remember and few pieces that can add instant feminine chic to any look… Feminine Style Notes…
• The term feminine is about displaying womanly traits
• Adding ruffles or layers doesn’t, by itself, create feminine appeal
• Even if you didn’t know it, subconsciously being feminine • Femininity focuses on the is about creating a more line. Think of an Oscar de “delicate” persona la Renta dress…it worships the feminine body and line! • Two easy fixes to add femininity are showing shape • In choosing your clothing or skin (but NOT both) items, look for pieces that accent or highlight your overall shape!
FIVE Feminine Chic Essentials….
A full skirt: paired with a fitted
top, it reads ultra-feminine and is an ode to the 50s and 60s (a la Mad Men)
A well-manicured hand: I’m taking a break from gel and this Zoya naked manicure lasts for weeks….literally & honestly!!
An elongating pump: I believe in
‘high as you can manage’ but any d’orsay pump will achieve a longer, leaner leg because more “skin” shows, takes away from the heaviness of full coverage, and reveals the arch which is supposed to be sexy!! I think these are my spring/summer choice…
BLUEPRINT FOR STYLE www.blueprintforstlyle.com barnettm@blueprintforstyle.com
An ankle-length pant to show
off the ankle and, yes, lengthen the leg again. Just make sure the ankle fits and doesn’t flair. Dark denim is great too because it does double-duty but right now, I’m sold on any jeans by NYDJ, available in petites and plus-size!!
Cinching at the waist accentuates your curves and is considered very feminine while a slightly wide belt also works as camouflage (just try it!). A belt with a little stretch accommodates weight fluctuation too but if you’re looking to “create” a waist and truly cinch, skip the stretch!
