Transformation is significantly different from renovation. When we transform a building, we fundamentally change its nature by maintaining key aspects of the original while reinventing portions for new uses. In a sense, the original building becomes the physical context for the new design. On many of our projects, it is common for parts of a building to be transformed, while other parts are restored, renovated, or expanded. Sanctuary before
