CEO Message

We highlight a major milestone for Probus as the very first Probus Club in Australia celebrates their 45th birthday.

Welcome to the March edition of Active Retirees.

In this edition we highlight a major milestone for Probus in Australia. On 3rd February 2021, the very first Probus Club in Australia celebrated their 45th birthday.

The Probus Club of Hunters Hill was formed on 3rd February 1976 - since its formation, it has helped hundreds of members enjoy Probus Fun, Friendship and Fellowship. With more than 90 members, the Club is just as strong today as it was all those years ago.

Successful Clubs are led by volunteers that provide their members with a variety of activities to suit their members’ lifestyles. It is such an amazing achievement for Hunters Hill Probus Club to have delivered this to so many members for over 45 years. It is a testament to their past and current Club Leaders. Many more Clubs will celebrate similar milestones in the coming weeks, months and years and I invite you all to share your celebrations with us so we can share them with your fellow Probians across Australia and New Zealand.

As we move into the new Probus year which starts on 1 April, I would like to thank the thousands of volunteers that have led their Probus Clubs and Associations through some very challenging times.

I also invite all members to consider volunteering to lead your Club. As a Club Leader, you will be helping current and future members stay socially engaged which is critically important for our overall health.

Volunteering builds community and self-esteem but more importantly, will help your Club reach many more milestones.

As restrictions continue to ease across the country, so many Clubs are planning meetings and activities and the future is very bright indeed.

Until next time
