Elements of Design? • They are the raw materials or the building blocks. • They structure and carry the work.

Principles of design? • They are the concept. • They affect the content and message.


Elements of Design Dot, Line, Shape, Form, Space, Colour, Texture


Line

It is a moving dot or the distance between two dots


Shape

Shape is an area that is contained within implied line, it is 2D


Form

Forms has volume and mass, it can and should be viewed from any angles. It id 3D


Space

Space can be 2D or 3D, It can be positive or negative


Colour

It can be the actual or the tint, tone or shade of the primary, secondary and tertiary colours.

This can be both visual and tactile

Principles of Design Balance, Proportion, Harmony, Unity, Emphasis, Rhythm


Balance

It is an equal distribution of weight ( Actual/Visual)


Balanced photograph

Imbalanced photograph


Proportion

Proportion refers to the relative size and scale of the various elements in a design



Harmony

Harmony is when the elements looks related to each other.


Unity

Unity is made when the elements "go together."


Emphasis

When an object is given more importance than the other


Rhythm

Rhythm is a measured movement through a space.
