Bringing real-time water operations and analytics to the cloud
Using the power of the cloud, water operations can be financially and operationally more accessible, powerful and flexible than traditional on-premises systems.
Water utilities everywhere in the world are facing challenges that did not exist a couple of decades ago. From growing urban populations and climate change to aging infrastructure, regulatory pressure and budgetary constraints, utilities now must deal with issues that require innovative solutions.
With these challenges at hand, water utilities’ digital transformation becomes a natural progression towards adopting solutions that drive peak operating efficiency, make use of existing IT investments, and improve levels of service to the community.
Innovyze, the global leader in water infrastructure data analytics, has recently launched a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, Info360.com, enabling water and wastewater utilities to monitor, analyse and optimise their operations using the convenience of the cloud.
This release becomes available alongside Info360 Insight – a first-of-its-kind data visualisation and workflow solution enabling dynamic digital twins for the water industry.
Dynamic digital twins are virtual models of real-world assets and systems that can learn and adapt to changing circumstances. Built upon Amazon Web Services (AWS), Info360.com is uniquely designed to support dynamic digital twins by gathering and unifying asset information, connecting live and historic performance data to Innovyze as well as third-party applications.
The platform offers a convenient pathway for utilities to power digital twin and transformation initiatives by unifying and converting raw data from SCADA and IoT systems and turning it into an actionable dashboard to detect and manage critical network events, incidents and KPIs.
Colby Manwaring, Chief Executive Officer at Innovyze, said, “The complex physical properties of water and massive, underground infrastructure that must be monitored and managed make digitisation extremely challenging for water utilities.
“We’ve combined 35 years of expertise in water management with the power of the cloud to bridge the data and technology gaps that have kept water utilities from truly capitalising on digital twins with our new Info360. com platform. This is a game changer in making digital transformation achievable for water utilities of any size.”
The new Info360 Insight SaaS application provides utilities with customisable dashboards and KPIs that track and visualise the real-time performance of the entire water distribution system.
Performance data can be used and analysed for daily operations, such as pipe break detection and water loss. The same data can also be used to plan for future maintenance and capacity fluctuations, with seamless integration into the hydraulic model.
Rick Gruenhagen, CTO at Innovyze, said, “Info360 Insight is the first of several SaaS applications we’re delivering for the Info360.com platform, all offering advantages to utilities like easy onboarding, infinite scalability and rigorous security out of the box.
“Better yet, the Info360 platform architecture incorporates cutting-edge technologies like predictive analytics and artificial intelligence tuned specifically for the water lifecycle, allowing utilities of all sizes to stay at the forefront of innovation without the need to maintain complex software or hire hordes of IT experts.
“As a result, utilities will have the technology foundation they need to deliver the highest possible service at the lowest possible cost.”
