The Monroe County YMCA first opened its doors in 1980, and this year we are celebrating 45 years in Monroe County! We are proud to have served our community for as long as we have. Our Y is lucky enough to have watched countless campers grow over the decades, and through your support, we were even selected as a 2024 Best of B-Town finalist for the Best Summer Camp Program.
In 2025, we are excited to continue making memories as we create, connect, and explore together! Our goal during Monroe County Y Summer Camp is to provide a fun experience full of activities to help our campers build relationships and foster a sense of personal achievement in an atmosphere that reinforces YMCA values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
The following catalog contains our full range of offerings and information to better prepare your child for their camp experience. Please refer to the Parent Guide leading up to camp as a reminder and update on what to expect in greater detail. Also, please do not hesitate to contact our directors and/or coordinators directly via email with any questions you have regarding camp.
Sincerely,
My daughter really enjoyed the camp. This was our first experience with the Y camp, and I was a bit nervous as my daughter did not know any other kids attending the camp going in. She made friends and really liked all the activities. As a parent, I have been pleased with the feedback I have heard from her.
“I always get a little nervous leaving my young son with teenage kids every year we do camp, and every time I am quickly proven wrong by the mature, responsible, kind, and amazing young adults that help make this camp happen for these kids and for our family. My son loves coming to camp, his counselors, and making new friends! I ask him, “Do you ever get bored?” and he says, “No way, Mom!”
““
He absolutely loved it and was disappointed when he woke up on Saturday and couldn’t go to camp again!
He had a great day and made new friends on his first visit.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Camp teaches teens ages 13-15 the job skills necessary to be an attentive counselor and strong employee!
Join us for a two-week camp, designed to teach our oldest campers the ins and outs of being a camp counselor at the Monroe County YMCA Summer Camp.

During the second half of the camp day, each CIT will join an actual camp group to shadow a lead counselor and practice what they have learned.
The camp environment provides a unique opportunity for youth to build leadership skills, particularly in assisting counselors with younger campers. CITs can gain first-hand experience working with campers and the opportunity to cultivate skills and knowledge in the day camp setting. CITs are placed only with groups of kids ages 4-8.
