What’s Distinctively Better About Monrovia Roses?
BETTER GENETICS. We work with breeders from around the world and carefully test and trial at all of our nurseries to select roses with stronger garden performance, disease and pest resistance, and lower maintenance requirements. The consumer can feel more confident planting our roses in the landscape.
GREATER UNIFORMITY. Fuller, more robust plants with beautiful branching, full foliage, and abundant blooms are the result of advanced mechanical pruning combined with hands-on care.
ALWAYS BUD AND BLOOM. Our craftsmen use a cycle pruning approach at all four nursery locations that allows us to ship roses in full bud and bloom spring through fall.
GREATER EXPERIENCE. We are the largest grower of Flower Carpet ® roses in the country, and have been growing roses for nearly a century in a variety of climates across the country. Our deep and longstanding relationships with breeders allow us to see opportunities in the market before others.
UNIQUE FORMS. We offer roses in different habits, from groundcover to grand shrub, to meet different landscape needs.
SELECTION OF SIZES: Choose from our broad assortment of 2-, 3-,5-, 7- and 10-gallon (including patio trees in several sizes).

The trend toward more compact selections is satisfying a growing need: smaller plants require less maintenance and are more flexible for use in any size garden. “When we search out new varieties, we look for plants that fit the way people really live, which in today’s world means smaller size landscapes. And increasingly, we know consumers are interested in plants that can be grown in containers as well as in the ground,” says Katie Tamony, Chief Marketing Officer of Monrovia. In designing a garden with a layered look, these more compact plants offer much greater versatility in use. “With a rose that reaches only 18 inches, you can use it at the front of a bed as you might with an annual or perennial, but it offers that WOW factor. And our groundcover type roses look wonderful in many situations.” For more compact versions of classic favorites of all kinds of plants, visit monrovia.com.

Trendspotting
We conduct ongoing research across the country to better understand what consumers want and need from roses. Recent insights include:
TOUGH BUT BEAUTIFUL.
Disease-resistance is the number one desired attribute in roses, according to surveys with our email subscribers. This quality is more important to consumers than any other attributes, surpassing characteristics such as longer blooming or more blooms.
THE NEW VICTORIAN TREND.
Today’s gardeners are seeking a more refined cottage look, which we call the “New Victorian,” that features climbing roses and groundcover or shrub types, particularly in white, blush, pink, and peach. Planting roses en masse creates a feeling of abundance.
FRAGRANCE IS BACK.
For years, breeding for disease resistance meant sacrificing fragrance. But consumers have been yearning for more fragrance in the garden, and our new roses (like the Eau de Parfum™ series) provide a solution.
