he team here at Computer Games magazine is getting better at bringing the publication out every week, but it hasn’t been easy. As anyone who’s worked on a weekly publication will tell you, it’s not easy. No sooner has the previous issue been released, flicked through, read, admired and/or criticised, than the new issue is in production. Some readers have asked why they can’t find the magazine during the day on Monday when they look online. The answer is we are still producing it. We try our best to get it ready and online as early as possible on Monday. We advertise the magazine as being out every Monday, but in truth, it’s usually past midnight by the time we finally upload it to the web. We apologise to the readers who wait for the magazine and than you for your patience. We’ll try to work faster and get it online earlier on Monday. l

Gears of War 3 sells more than 3 million in first week

PES 2012 now in App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch Konami gets into the football season with free Pro Evolution Soccer title for iPad

onami Digital Entertainment has announced the launch of PES 2012 for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. The App enjoys a raft of additions specifically designed to make full use of the hardware. PES 2012 is available for free with additional content offered through InApp Purchase. Like its console counterparts, the game features truly realistic AI and all-new game modes. Leading the charge is the Super Challenge mode, which allows users to build a team of the world’s best players, and lead them to victory. Players can then download similar teams created by friends from a cloud server and play against them – before posting the scores online via Facebook. Players can move both on and off the ball, while goalkeepers have been enhanced to close down attacks, react acrobatically to tip shots past the post, and will come off their line to claim a loose ball. The individuality of players is also highlighted and the world’s greatest stars are recognizable by their movements, ability and pace. Perfect World responds to Rusty Hearts players Rusty Hearts gives players what they asked for with first major update, Awakening

erfect World Entertainment has launched Awakening, the first major content update for Rusty Hearts, its hack ‘n’ slash dungeon crawler MMORPG, which will be available on October 11, 2011. This major addition to the fast-paced beat ‘em up game features content that will uncover the history of Curtis Castle and expand the areas in the Cathedral hub world including an increased level cap to level 30, brand new dungeons, a second underground training facility, hundreds of new items, several new skills and weapons for each character, as well as over 120 new rich quests that will allow players to uncover more of Rusty Heart’s lore and storyline. In search for signs of Lord Vlad and his missing fiancé, Frantz and his heroic friends unintentionally resurrect Thanatos, an ancient demon of death, from a sealed statue. tar Wars: The Old Republic will launch in North America on December 20, 2011 and in Europe on December 22, 2011. That’s according to the official announcement made by Dr Ray Muzyka and Dr Greg Zeschuk, co-founders of BioWare, a label of Electronic Arts. The two doctors made their announcement at the Eurogamer Expo last week. Set thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader, Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively multiplayer online game challenging players with epic quests, featuring dynamic combat across iconic worlds in the Star Wars galaxy such as Tatooine, Alderaan, Hoth and more. Each of the game’s eight primary classes will enjoy their own unique trilogy of storylines, all of which are fully voiced with a sweeping musical score. New story details and characters revealed for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii

N

intendo has revealed new details about the introductory storyline and game play in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which will launch exclusively for the Wii system on November 20. The enhanced motion controls of the Wii Remote Plus (or Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus accessory) and Nunchuk controller allow for deeply immersive puzzlesolving challenges in this latest addition to the iconic Zelda franchise. This new game – one of the biggest in the history of Nintendo software development – will also feature new story elements that lay the foundation for the events that occur in the rest of the series. This includes the creation of the Master Sword, an ancient and powerful weapon that has been a constant in the 25year history of the Zelda series. The introductory storyline includes the following: • Introduction: The new game’s storyline begins in Skyloft, an island town suspended high in the sky, on the day before young Link is to compete in a major bird-flying competition. The winner of the contest will earn the honor of taking part in a special ceremony with Zelda. • Link and Zelda: Friends since childhood, Link and Zelda have always shared a special bond. Events in the new game will add even more depth to their relationship.

• Groose: Link’s nemesis at school, Groose, plays a significant role in the early moments of the new game. This bully of a character not only threatens Link’s chances to win the bird-flying competition, but he also reveals a jealous streak toward Link and Zelda’s special bond. • Fi: Early on in Link’s new adventure, he encounters Fi, the spirit of the powerful Goddess Sword. Fi’s guidance proves to be crucial as Link goes forth on a challenging quest that will ultimately result in the creation of the Master Sword. • Zelda’s father: Gaepora, Zelda’s father, is the headmaster of Link’s school. As such, he has knowledge of the history and legends of Skyloft. More details about the game’s storyline and features will be revealed prior to its Nov. 20 launch. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will soon be available as a standalone game or as part of a limited-edition bundle that also includes a gold-coloured Wii Remote Plus controller.
