ABOUT THE DESIGNER
KARI DEMOND Kari Demond, principal of KLM Interiors, has over 28 years of experience working on a vast array of residential and hospitality projects. Having worked in and sourced from multiple remote locations, Kari was the natural fit to design the Model Residence at Montage Kapalua Bay. The inherent beauty of the islands, most particularly Maui and the stunning Kapalua Bay, serves as a spectacular mosaic for her vision. Kari studied the Hawaiian culture and native history to create an eclectic designwith a palette based on hues of koa wood, bamboo, pineapple, coconut, woven native grasses. Her furnishings incorporate natural materials and Polynesian design elements that complement island life. Her interior furnishings and outdoor lanais mesh seamlessly, creating an environment that is both functional and elegant. Kari uses local talent and craftsmen to further enhance the ultimate result –her coordination of design down to the smallest detail is expertly managed thus making the process effortless and fun.
