After a long day of skiing at Big Mountain Ski Resort in Whitefish, photographer Chuck Haney took the last chairlift to the summit and spent the next hour photographing Flower Point rising up from a fog inversion, with the peaks of Glacier National Park in the distance. “That was at about 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Everything just came together with that fantastic light bouncing off the top of the clouds, the snow ghosts covering the mountain, and then that warm pink light contrasting with the blue on the horizon,” Chaney says. “It was a surreal scene.” n
