One-Time Transfer Exception Request

One-Time Transfer Exception Request

A student-athlete who wishes to request a release from the transfer residence requirement upon transfer must do so in writing (email suffices) to the compliance office. The compliance office has seven (7) business days in which to respond. If the compliance office does not reply within seven days, the release shall be granted by default and UM will be required to provide the written release to the student-athlete.

In the event that UM denies the request, the student-athlete will be notified in writing, via their official UM email address, that s/he may request a hearing before the appeals committee. The notice must include information on the opportunity for the student-athlete to participate in the hearing, either via phone or in-person. The committee shall be comprised of five members: Director of Financial Aid; chair of University Athletic Committee; Associate Director of Community Standards; Dean of the Davidson Honors College; member of ASUM. The committee shall conduct the hearing and provide written results (via email) of the hearing to the student-athlete within 15 business days of receipt of the studentathlete’s written request for a hearing. If the hearing and written notice is not provided to the studentathlete within 15 business days, the release shall be granted by default and UM will provide a written release to the student-athlete.
