he College of Education, Health and Human Development at Montana State University concluded the 2010-2011 academic year two weeks ago with numerous events. This special edition issue of College News Update highlights the celebrations during Commencement Week, concluding with the main commencement ceremony on May 7 at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

fter a week of intense finals, many faculty, staff and students relaxed at the college’s fourth annual recognition reception and end-of-the-year celebration, held on May 5 at the Stadium Club. Awards were presented to outstanding faculty, staff, graduating seniors, and graduate students.

A

lumni for the classes of 1941, 1951, and 1961 returned to campus on May 6 to celebrate their class reunions. The Department of Education hosted a reception and tours of Reid Hall and Romney Gym for education and physical education alumni. A ribbon cutting ceremony, reception, and tour was held in Herrick Hall for home economics alumni and donors to celebrate the recent completion of renovations of the foods lab, nutrition lab, child development center, and classrooms. n the afternoon of May 6, departments hosted receptions for graduating students and their families. It was a time to meet college friends and visit with faculty one last time before commencement. Education students and families met in Reid Hall, while health and human development students met in Herrick Hall and Romney’s new exercise science teaching lab.

T

he 115th commencement ceremony was held at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on May 7, 2011, celebrating the educational achievements of 2,616 graduating students. This year, the university held two main ceremonies for the colleges, encouraging all students to attend. Every student was recognized as they walked across the stage to receive their degree covers. The College of Education, Health and Human Development took part in the morning ceremony, which also included the College of Agriculture, the College of Business, and the College of Engineering. EHHD had 220 undergraduates and graduates who were eligible to receive degrees. Congratulations to our outstanding students!
