Welcome!

Salutations Falcons, It is my privilege to welcome new and returning students for what I expect to be an academic year unfettered by social limitations and unforeseen hazards. Circumstances surrounding these past years have placed restraints on how we interact with each other. While these restraints served a purpose, the time has come for us to fully realize the potential of the college experience. I urge new and returning students to get involved on campus. The University of Montevallo boasts an impressive variety of academic and extracurricular opportunities for students of every background, which can be found at falconlink.montevallo.edu. As SGA president, I have a duty to serve and listen to your concerns. The SGA represents you on campus. As such, it’s an instrument where your voice is heard by those who can bring change. It’s my goal that every student feels represented, and a good way to assure that is by running for open SGA positions. SGA sponsors several free events throughout the year, so follow us on Instagram and other social media platforms so you don’t miss out on the fun. Do not hesitate to contact me or visit the SGA offices. I’m glad to offer you this warm welcome to an inviting campus and what should be another amazing year at the University. Be ambitious and allow yourselves the chance to thrive. I look forward to meeting all of you. Cody Hodge, SGA President

Dear new and returning students, I am so happy to see you on the bricks! This University has been my home for many years now, and I genuinely feel this is the place I belong. I hope that this feeling will apply to you as well and you come to love UM as much as I do. My advice would be to make the most of your time here. Get involved. Montevallo offers so many opportunities for you to form connections with other students, faculty and staff. To help make the most of your time here, “The Fledgling” is the perfect guide. This book contains all the resources that our amazing campus has to offer as well as a map, the student handbook and a planner. I highly recommend using this book as much as possible to stay organized and informed throughout the academic year. As administrative vice president, I encourage students to get to know their SGA representatives so SGA has a better idea of how to create change on campus. Our goal is to be the voice of the student body and we need your help to make a difference for future students to come. SGA is here to serve you. Lastly, I hope every one of you has an amazing school year. Cherish the memories you make and strive for excellence in everything you do. Jacob Heath, SGA Administrative Vice President
