Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
The Annual General Meeting was called to order and opened with a prayer by Father Budhu. He advised the congregation that the purpose of the Annual General Meeting was to : (a) review the finances of the church;(b) hear from the Chair of the Building and Finance Committees; and (c) vote on new members of the Vestry. A copy of the document, The Anglican Church of the Epiphany Annual Report 2017 was provided to members of the congregation by the ushers Father Budhu then invited the congregation to accept the Minutes and Reports of Annual General Meeting of 2016. The Report was seconded by Mr. Christian Knowles. A.
Finances
Father Budhu invited the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer to present the Financial Reports. The congregation was directed to the statement General Fund - Income Statement for the Year 2017 found on pg.15. The Treasurer, Mrs. Denise Hanna informed the meeting that there was an decrease in income from envelopes which could be attributed to the economic times. The lower income was however offset by a decrease in operating expenses, in particular, lower operating expenses by Parish Ministries (such as Church Activities, Charitable giving and Social Outreach Programmes). She also highlighted that the amount expended for Repairs and Maintenance although higher in 2017 than 2016 , was lower than budgeted which resulted in the Net Income for 2017 totalling $93,044 which was more than the budget forecast of $52,309. Mr. Glen Ritchie, Assistant Treasurer then provided an overview of the statement Building Fund - Balance for the Year 2017 found on pg, 16. He reported that there was an increase of $267K in the Building Fund in 2017 due to increased Pledge Contributions ($116K) and funds from the Fair ($38). Disbursements from the Building Fund focused on completing the roof ($209K) and loan payments to the Diocese of $41K. He said that the balance due to the Diocese as at December 31, 2017 was $247K. The balance on the Building Fund at the end of 2017 was $135K. He went on to discuss the Combined Income Statement for the Year 2017 on pg 18, which was a consolidation of the General and Building Fund Statements. He highlighted the increase in cash due to the Pledge Contributions and the Fair and the decrease in expenditure on Parish Ministries and Property Expenses which resulted in a Net Income of $331K in 2017. Mr. Richie then moved to the the assets and liabilities of the church as outlined on the Balance Sheet as at December 31, 2017on pg 19. He explained that the total assets of the church included: (i) the New Church Building, (ii) Colony Village Property and (iii) Existing Church Building was $ 3.17M. (i) New Church Building During 2017, $1.16M was spent on the New Church Building and the outstanding amount to be paid on the loan from the Diocese was $274K.
5
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
(ii) Colony Village Property Mr. Ritchie said that the Parish operated two accounts; one for the General Fund and another for the Building Fund. The main liability on the balance sheet was the outstanding balance of $82K on the Colony Village property. Since the General Fund had a balance of $1.7M, the Vestry had agreed in February 2018, to pay the outstanding balance of $82K on the Colony Village property from the General Fund. The balance on the account would leave approximately 4-6 months of operating expenses in the General Fund account. (iii) Existing Church Building He reported that the Existing Church Building was valued at $1.32M. At the end of 2017, the value of combined balance sheet (assets over liabilities) increased from $2.5M in 2016 to $2.8M in 2017. Mr. Ritchie reported that the success to date with the finances of the church was due to consistent tithing, members meeting pledge contributions, the participation of parish organization as well as controlled expenditure. Father Budhu thanked the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer for the reports expressed gratitude to them and others who supported them. He invited questions from the congregation. He then asked for someone to second the reports. The reports were seconded by Mr. Basil McIntosh. There were no objections. (iv) 2018 Budget The congregation was reminded that the budget had to be presented by a neutral person and Mr. Bertram Knowles, Peoples Warden was called upon to present the 2018 General Fund Budget. He said that the budget remained largely unchanged from 2017. He noted that a small increase in envelopes was expected (3%). There would be a decrease in funds to Parish Ministries and an increase in expenditure on Repairs and Maintenance to complete on-going work to the bathrooms in the hall. Father Budhu then asked for questions on the budget. Mrs. Stella Thompson asked whether the information on the finances and budget could be provided to the congregation before the Annual General Meeting. Father Budhu responded that the information for the meeting was collated the night before and efforts would be made to get information out earlier. Mrs. Lorraine Burrows asked why the interest payment for 2018 for the Colony Village Loan was lower than 2017. Mr. Knowles responded that the outstanding loan balance would be repaid in 2018. Father Budhu then asked for the 2018 Budget to be seconded. The 2018 Budget was seconded by Mr. Edward Fox. There were no objections.

Church Construction Reports
Father Budhu then invited Mr. Bertram Knowles to present the Church Construction Project: Building Committee Report on pg 24. He noted that the superstructure was completed and that the internal work would be the focus for 2017. The work in order of priority would be installation of electrical conduits, wiring and fixtures, ceiling and finishes, windows and doors, air-conditioning, tiling and related floor finishes. The cost of these finishes was estimated at $700K. He said that there was about 10 months to January 2019 and the finish work would be slow and meticulous and would be completed by sub-contractors. He said that this stage required members to be positive and hopeful. Moreover it required consistent amounts of money as supplies had to be paid for in advance. The encouraged members to be prayerful moving forward and said that he welcomed suggestions. Father Budhu asked for questions from the congregation. There were no questions. The report was seconded by Mr. Basil McIntosh. There were no objections. Father Budhu thanked Mr. Knowles for the report. Mr. E. J. Bowe, Priest Warden was called to present the Church Construction Project: Finance Committee Report found on page 23. He said that the New Every Member Pledge Programme had received $216K in 2017, Gift Day $7K, Donations to Building Fund $7K and Annual Fair $38K. The New Every Member Pledge Programme would run from 2017 to 2019. He said this was the third pledge programme, and reported that $1M was needed to complete the church but only $268K had been received so far. Despite this he said he was thankful and encouraged members to commit to the pledge programme. He referred to the Old Testament reading that was read during the mass that recorded the faith of Abraham to believe God to do the impossible. He admonished members not to entertain negative thoughts. He thanked persons who participated in the pledge programme and who had supported the fair. Father Budhu asked the congregation if there were any questions for Mr. Bowe. There were none. The report was seconded by Mrs. Sandra Deveaux. There were no objections. C.
Voting
Father Budhu directed the congregation to the bulletin and advised that six persons had been nominated to serve on the Vestry namely: Carl Brennen. Wynsome Carey, Jemma Hepburn, Glen Ritchie, Karl Spencer and Diana Wallace. He asked the ushers to distribute ballots to members of the church who were 18 years or older. He instructed the congregation to tick the names of four persons to serve on the Vestry and advised them that ticking more than four names would be a spoilt ballot. He thanked all the persons who participated in church life and ended with the words of the Apostle Paul, “Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in Lord your labour is not in vain. - 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
Minutes of the last AGM Father Budhu directed everyone’s attention to the 2017 Annual Report and the minutes of the 2017 AGM. He commented that for the next year he would try and provide the Annual Report a week before the AGM. He inquired whether there were any questions. There were no questions and acceptance of the minutes was seconded by Mrs. Erica Rolle. Matters Arising There were no matters arising. Rector’s Report Father Budhu presented his report, found on page 8 of the Annual Report and thanked everyone for their contribution during the past year. The report was seconded by Mr. Mike Thompson. Father Budhu commented that the Church would mark its 30th Anniversary in 2019 and he would appoint a committee to begin planning celebrations at least a year in advance as he wanted the event to be special. Reports from Church Organizations The reports from church organizations were reviewed by the congregation. Approval of the reports was seconded by Mrs. Verna Musgrove. Father Budhu thanked everyone for their commitment and support during the 2017 year. Treasurer’s Report Mrs. Denise Hanna presented a report on the Church’s General Fund, found on page 15. Mr. Glen Ritchie presented a report on the Church’s Building Fund (page 16) and a combined report on the General Fund and Building Fund (page 18). Mr. Ritchie commented that at the Vestry meeting held in January 2018, the Vestry unanimously approved payoff of the remaining $82,004 owed for the Colony Village Property. Father Budhu thanked the congregation for tithing consistently during the year and fulfilling their pledge commitment. Mrs. Thecla Dorsett inquired whether the property expenses amount on page 18 included expenses for the current church property as well as the Colony Village property. Mr. Ritchie responded that the expenses related to the current church only and included preparation for Hurricane Irma, painting and clean-up for the ACM conference and Church Anniversary Service as well as termite treatment. Mrs. Anita Bernard inquired whether the Colony Village property was providing any revenue. Mr. Ritchie responded that no revenue was being generated at the current time however the Vestry was considering several requests for rental. 9
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
The reports were seconded by Mrs. Lyndiana Rahining and accepted by the congregation. 2018 Budget Mr. Bertram Knowles presented the proposed budget for 2018. He noted that the new budget was similar to the previous budget, however a 3% increase was budgeted for envelope collections. The repair and maintenance budget anticipated additional renovations required to upgrade the property to meet handicap standards. The budget was seconded by Mr. Kenneth Bethell and approved by the congregation. Building Fund Report Mr. Bertram Knowles presented the report on pages 24-25. He summarized the work completed in 2017 and the anticipated goals for 2018. He informed the congregation that approximately $600,000.00 was required to complete the building to the point where it could be used for services in 2019. The Building Committee Report was seconded by Mrs. Marina Forbes and approved by the congregation. Finance Committee Report Mr. Ernest Bowe presented the report on page 23 and thanked the congregation for what was accomplished to date despite the fact that completion of the building was behind schedule. He encouraged everyone to redouble their effort in 2018 as the Church needed every member’s support no matter how small. He thanked the members of the Finance Committee, the Fair Planning Committee, and collection counters, noting that counters were well organized and very thorough. Mrs. Thecla Dorsett inquired whether there was a ‘Plan B in case the Finance Committee did not meet its goals. Father Budhu commented that there are no other plans as one bank had already indicated that they could not make a loan to Epiphany. Funds had been borrowed from the Diocesan Pension Plan to install the church roof and loan payments are being made as agreed however there are no plans for further borrowing. Mr. Knowles pointed out that $600,000 was needed to occupy the building not to fully complete the building. Father Budhu stated that the work thus far has been amazing especially from such a small number of people and the benefits of the new church would accrue to the next generation. He hoped to hold the 2019 Feast of Title Service in the new church. The Finance Committee Report was seconded by Mrs. Denise Hamia and accepted by the congregation. Father Budhu presented the following persons who were nominated for Vestry:
10

Rector’s Report 1.
Greetings & Welcome
To the Parish Family gathered today to worship and discuss the affairs of our beloved Church: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Welcome! 2.
Expressions of Gratitude
This month marks eight years since you welcomed me into the Parish Family as your pastor, priest, and friend. I am thankful to God for those in Parish Ministries from Vestry to Parish Organizations, Committees and individuals for the invaluable support rendered to enhance Parish life and witness. May God bless you all and thanks a million. 3.
Year In Review
The year 2018 began with the usual pump and ceremony, spilt over from our celebration of Christmas and New Year’s, into our Feast of Title. Unfortunately, I was absent from those celebrations since I was convalescing after illness in December of 2017. I am thankful to Bishop Boyd and members of the clergy who filled in during this time. Special thanks to lay persons of Epiphany who held the fort and who made me very proud indeed. Special mention must be made of the Wardens, Miss Monica Stuart, Mr. Montez Williams and Ms. Gail Thompson. I eased myself back into full time ministry in February, at the beginning of Lent. Thanks for your prayers and loving support during those challenging early months of 2018.
Parish Finances
I leave the details of our overall financial performance to Ms. Wanda Maycock and Mr. Glen Ritchie. However, I am happy to report that we had another successful financial year. Thanks to all and please remember that we are striving to become a fully tithing church. I have every confidence that we can do it, by Gods grace. Thanks to all involved in the financial affairs of our Church-the Ushers, Counters, financial (data management) and the Treasurers.
Parish Organizations/Ministries
Generally, these Ministries held their own in 2018 but there is much room for improvement. The Couples Ministry fell away in 2018 and the CYM was inactive for most of the year. However, I am pleased that our new Parish Youth Coordinator, Mrs. Denise Hanna and her team of Youth Leaders have injected new life into this vital ministry. There was a CYM reth launch on 30 November, 2018. The Festival Choir, Senior Choir, and Magi Singers will need to regroup in 2019. Our Prayer Band, Usher Board, St. Ambrose Guild, Children’s Choir, and Sunday School Department continue to labour in the Lord’s vineyard. I encourage you to press forward and keep on ‘the firing line’.
12
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
We are presently looking for a new Choir Director for the Senior Choir. We are grateful to Mr. Alex Thompson and Mr. Montez Williams for exemplary leadership of the Choir over the years; Mr. Thompson of much longer duration. Mr. Thompson has retired for health and personal reasons and Mr. Williams is presently domiciled in Abaco. Thanks gentlemen. We are thankful to Mr. Michael Thompson who has agreed to act as Choir Director. We have already proven that we have what it takes to be effective in ministry. Let us commit to new growth and fresh expressions of what we do in each of our ministries. God is counting on us. Nevertheless, thanks to all for your labour of love.
Worship
We kept up with the offering of the usual worship Services on Sundays and Weekdays. In Epiphany we serve God ‘in the beauty of holiness’ and endeavour to give God our best in worship. Attendances have held their usual averages but we can do much better. The Discipleship Eucharists which began in March were held once monthly thereafter, with a total of 9 held in 2018. I pray that all our worship opportunities grow in attendances and in their effectiveness to bring us to a greater awareness of God, our Heavenly Father. Remember we exist to worship and glorify God. Thanks to the Lay Readers, Chalice Assistants, St. Ambrose Guild, Organists, Senior Choir and other members of our Music Ministry, Lectors, Cantors, Ushers, Hymn Announcers and Decorators who ensured by their involvement, that we maintained a high standard in worship. Special thanks to Ms. Gail Thompson for meticulously preparing the Church for worship and for ensuring that the Church is open and ready to welcome worshippers.

Church Construction Project
We are thankful to Mr. Bertram Knowles and Mr. E.J. Bowe, Chairs of the Building Committee and the Finance Committee respectively, and members of each Committee for their work in 2018. Not much construction happened in 2018 due to circumstances beyond our control, but fundraising continued and we are now poised for resumption of construction in March, 2019. Thanks to Mr. Glen Ritchie for managing the Building Fund and for charting the way forward to ensure the availability of finances for the resumption of construction. To all who participated in the Pledge Programmes over the years and to those who gave donations or supported fundraising events, we say thanks and may God bless you. Let us all rededicate ourselves to seeing this project come to its glorious conclusion. 4.
Looking Ahead – 2019 The 1st 30 Years
April, 2019 will mark the end of the first 30 years of the call of God to Epiphany to pitch its tent, to dig its well and to build its altar. After 30 years we are near the completion of the building of our Altar (New Church). God has been generous to us for the past 30 years. We intend to celebrate this in grand style and with youthful exuberance, thereby conveying the immense gratitude and deep love we feel for our loving generous God. Please get on board and let us celebrate. A 30th Anniversary Committee has been formed, headed by Mr. Bertram Knowles, with sub committees headed by Mr. E.J. Bowe, Mr. Carl Brennen, and Ms. Elaine Toote. We thank those who agreed to work in these committees and look forward to a grand celebration in the Lord.

The Second 30 Years
I seek your support in the use of the Theme for our second 30 years: NEW WINE.....FRESH EXPRESSIONS. The details will be revealed as we proceed through Lent and should take full effect after April of this year. These are exciting times for our Church and I invite you to join us in the journey to our future.
Parish Wardens
Our Wardens, Mr. E. J. Bowe (Priest’s Warden) and Mr. Bertram Knowles (People’s Warden), have been in the Lord’s service almost from the beginning. They have served this Parish with distinction as Wardens and in various other capacities and possess the institutional knowledge of Parish life that is unmatched. Their selfless dedication to service and the extent of their personal sacrifices have served this Parish well over the years. For the past 8 years I have been the recipient of their priceless advice and council in matters pertaining to the management of our beloved Church. I remain eternally grateful for their stellar contribution to Church and Parish life during my tenure. Both gentlemen have requested not to be considered for reelection or re-appointment at this AGM and we honour their request. At this meeting new Wardens will be elected/appointed. We will honour these gentlemen appropriately at another time and place. For the time being, however, we say; THANKS A MILLION. GOD BLESS YOU! 5.
Conclusion
Thanks for the opportunity to serve among and along with you. I am grateful for the love and support I received from those in Parish Ministries and each member of the congregation. Thank you and may God bless you always. “Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or conceive, by the power which is at work among us, to Him be the glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all ages. Amen” - Ephesians 3:20-21

Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
2018 was very good year financially for the Church. Net income of the General Fund totalled $83,732 for the year, exceeding the budget by $16,430 but falling short of 2017 income by $9,312. The primary reasons for the variance are: Total income of $416,799 which exceeded budget by $16,799 and year 2017 by $25,209. The main driver here was Envelope income which was $12K over budget and $21K over 2017 due largely to the commitment and consistent tithing of parish members. Additionally, income of $9K was received from the Colony Village property which was rented during the last quarter of 2018 for $1,850/ month. In comparison, total expenditure of $333,067 was basically in line with the Budget but exceeded 2017 expenditure by $35K. Expenditure worth noting include:
$11K for maintenance of Lot 29 Prince Charles Drive, tree removal and levelling the area for parking.
Repair & Maintenance expenditure of $39K, incurred mainly to secure the boundary of the Church property, maintenance of the air conditioning system, repairs and upgrade of the Colony Village property for rental and general upkeep of the building and grounds.
Parish Ministries of $46K which includes church activities like the Feast of Title celebrations, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day socials, children’s Christmas party, charitable donations and Social Outreach to Organizations like the Bahamas Red Cross, Great Commissions Ministries and All Saints Camp.
Utilities of $22K which exceeded both budget and 2017 expenditure by $5K respectively.

The Building Fund recorded Total Cash Receipts of $255K during 2018: 1.
the majority of which originated from Pledge Contributions, which experienced a $121K decrease over 2017. This was as a result of the decreasing Pledges as the Program approached its duration; coupled with the acquisition of Lot#29 in July 2018, a key component of the overall Vision of the Church. From inception, contributions from the Pledge scheme totalled an impressive $845K, accounting for over 50% of total receipts.

2.
As approved by the Vestry, and depending on the performance of the General Fund, $40K per year was transferred to the Building Fund in 2018. The $80K transferred represents both 2018 and 2017 amounts.
3.
The Annual Fair marked a significant improvement over 2017 accounting for $53K of total income, and marking the most successful fair held to date. Over the past 5 years the Annual Fair has contributed approximately $166K towards the Building Fund. Over the course of 2018, a number of fundraising events were held with the proceeds specifically earmarked towards the building of our new Church. These fundraising events totaled $72K for 2018.
4.
On the disbursements side, as we are now at stages that require full completion (such as electricals, ceilings, etc..),construction activity subdued somewhat in 2018 allowing for the Building Fund Balance to increase to $307K as at December 31, 2018 to now proceed with the major disbursements in 2019. Since the construction commenced in 2014, $1.2Million has been spent to date.
5.
Loan payments to the Diocese totalled $41K during 2018 comprised of interest of $18K and principal payments of $23K. The balance due to the Diocese as at December 31, 2018 totalled $251K.

The Committee is now inviting bids for the additional works as follows: Entrance steps to worship space and vestry Canopy over entrance doors-exterior Janitorial Room Electrical Room Each remaining stage of construction requires substantial cash-advance and we working within the constraints of available resources. We are thankful to God for His guidance. We again thank our members and well-wishers for their support, generosity and patience. St. Ambrose Guild Report “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe”. (Hebrews 12:28) As such, the altar servers of this parish sought to offer to God during the past year an acceptable worship through approaching their participation in the Holy Mysteries of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with reverential respect. The Guild of St. Ambrose met regularly for practice sessions during the course of 2018 on Saturdays between the hours of 12pm-1pm. Over the course of the past year, at the Diocesan level the acolytes took part in the Mothering Sunday Procession, the United Black Episcopal Church Association Service, and the Diocesan Synod Service. At the parish level, the acolytes participated in their regular Sunday worship services, special feast day services and also that of funerals. During the past year, the Guild had a growth in membership by two persons. Mia Cargill and Aiden Deal, all joined us during the course of the year 2018. Additionally in 2018, the Guild bid farewell to two faithful members Mailyn Gibson and Peter Pinder who relocated overseas to continue their education. Despite geographical relocation of the afore-mentioned two individuals, both have remained faithful to the call to serve around the altar on their return visits. The Guild extends profound gratitude to Peter and Mailyn for the service which was so graciously offered and our prayers are with them as they continue to live and study in other parts of God’s vineyards. Further, serving around the altar at the sacrifice which the church gives to God through worship is an esteemed privilege. Thus, an invitation to join this vital ministry is hereby extended to persons within the wider congregation who are prepared to willingly submit themselves towards serving around God’s Holy Altar, as there is always a need for such persons. The Guild expresses gratitude to Fr. Budhu for his spiritual leadership and support. A special thank you is extended to the Lay Readers, particularly Swithun and Lorraine Burrows, Greg Thompson, E.J. Bowe, Dominic Archer, Sr. and Glen Ritchie, Sr., who so willingly assists the Guild when called upon. A special thank you is extended to All Altar Servers who continue to be sincere and faithful in their time of service to the Guild. Gratitude is also extended to parents who continually assist their child(ren) in effectively executing their work within this ministry by ensuring that they attend practice sessions and worship services, and to all those persons in the wider congregation who continue to give the Guild their support.

As the Guild advances further into the year 2019, it is our prayer that members of the Guild may be guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit as we seek to worship with reverence and true holiness to the honour and glory of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Prayer Band Report WHY PRAY? The need to pray is as great as the authority of God which commands us : “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is so vital to all that God wants to do on the earth, and as essential to us, that God commands us to do it all the time. (Luke 6:12; 21:36; Colossians 4:2). We therefore, members of this Epiphany Prayer Band ministry are thankful to Rev’d Angela Palacious, who in 2010, formed this prayer band, and to Fr. Atma Budhu in 2011, who supported our prayer prayer ministry with such fervor, that he created an organization, electing a president, secretary and treasurer to carry on this wonderful legacy of Jesus. Jesus Himself prayed all the time to His Heavenly Father. With this in mind, let us continue to pray to our Prayer Answering Heavenly Father. He is waiting to hear us. Since then, the Prayer Band meets at the church every Wednesday at 6:30 pm to pray, read the scriptures, the psalms, sing songs of praises, realizing that when God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that it should be preceded by the extraordinary prayers of His people: Ordinary people praying in extraordinary fashion for our bishops, priest, congregation, ourselves and all families, the world and ultimately for the glory of God. Theme: The members coined the phrase, “Persevering In Pursuit Of A Prayer-Filled Life.” Our themes song is “O Master Let Me Walk With Thee” - 536 CPWI hymnal. Corporate Communion: We celebrated our first Corporate Service on 17 November, which was also Harvest Sunday. On the second Sunday of every month, the Prayer Band joins the Usher Board to celebrate Corporate Communion. Membership: There are ten (10) registered members in the Prayer Band. They are as follows:
30
LaTisha Davis LeAnn Forbes Marina Forbes
Hyacinth Lozaique Margaret Rodgers Persephone McQuay Alicia Rolle Dorothy Miller Carnetta Rolle
Gail Thompson
Dues: Members have agreed to pay $5 per month or $60 per annum. Meetings: At 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 24 January, 2018, the Prayer Band assembled at the church for the purpose of their regular prayer session. Election of Officers: At 7:00 pm, Mr. E. J. Bowe, Priest Warden arrived. A prayer was said by Marina Forbes. Mr. Bowe then conducted the election of officers. The following officers were duly elected: President … Marina Forbes Secretary … Dorothy Miller Treasurer … Hyacinth Lozaique Mr. Bowe praised the organization for their dedication and generosity in giving. He thanked the outgoing officers and congratulated the newly elected officers. He wished them God’s speed. President Forbes thanked Mr. Bowe for his words of encouragement before he left for other duties. Visits and Love Offerings: On Thursday, 1 February, 2018, we began to visit the sick and shut-ins, taking fruit baskets, juice and cards. Cash is sometimes requested. The recipients who usually join us in prayer and song express great appreciation. During the year we continued to visit, praying and giving comfort to the sick and shut-ins. Parish Fair: Once again members of the Prayer Band made personal sacrifices in contributing to the fait. As members were committed to assist other organizations with their stalls, we decided that in lieu of holding our own stall we would contribute $200.00 each, in addition to a donation of $200.00 from the dues of the Prayer Band. This effort resulted in presenting $1,500.00 to Mr. E. J. Bowe, chairman of the Parish fair Committee for 2018. Please see the treasurer’s report. Acknowledgements: Sincere gratitude and appreciation to the hardworking officers and members of the Prayer Band who though small in number, made it happen. Your commitment to fellowship, service and giving has been exceptional.

Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
We meet on Saturdays at the Anglican Church of The Epiphany, Prince Charles Drive from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The Bahamas Girl Guides Association (B.G.G.A.) is a member of The World-Wide Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (W.A.G.G.G.S.). While B.G.G.A. is free to develop its own programs to make them relevant to the local community within the guidelines of WAGGGS, from time to time WAGGGS have highlighted issues of significance that all members worldwide should address. Girls are invited to join this organization, where they develop interpersonal skills through interaction with their peers and the community. They are trained to become leaders and make a positive difference in their country and the world. At meetings the girls are involved in a variety of activities such as spiritual devotions, games, songs, art and craft, debates, field trips, camping and community outreach activities which help them in earning badges. Through Community Service, the Brownies and Sunflowers are able to fulfill their Motto: “Lend a Hand”. Last year, we took part in several BGGA events such as Cookie Month, Remembrance Day Service and Parade, The Annual Christmas Carol Service, Thinking Day and Guide Week Activities and the Eastern District Awards Ceremony. We also take part in events such as The Red Cross Fair, The Cultural Fair, The Church Fair and Anglican Education Week. We would like to express appreciation and gratitude to Rev’d Fr. Atma Budhu, the Vestry and members of Epiphany Anglican Church for hosting our meetings. Also thanks to parents of our girls for their support throughout the year. May God continue to keep and strengthen our Girl Guide Sisterhood, as we mold young leaders.

Social Events Committee Report The Epiphany Social Events Committee’s role is to ensure that there are opportunities for church members, visitors and the community to fellowship and build camaraderie within the church and in the community. During 2018, there were adequate occasions for social interactions, extending hospitality and engaging in Christian fellowship. Throughout the year, the Committee coordinated events like the coffee/breakfast hour following the Sunday Masses, refreshments and dinner after the Epiphany Feast of Title Services, a reception after the Parish Anniversary Service, the Christmas Day Breakfast, the 35

Christmas Garden Party and souse after the New Year’s Eve Watch Night Service. In addition, the Committee provided refreshments for activities, as necessary, and assisted the parochial organizations and parish committees with their fund raising efforts and social and community events. In furtherance of Epiphany’s social and community outreach ministry, the Committee was instrumental in the preparation and distribution of food, clothing and care packages to parishioners, other persons in need and charitable organizations. The Committee also assisted persons and entities that used the church facilities in 2018 for special celebrations, gettogethers, repasts, talks, group meetings, seminars, conferences, town meetings and other such community undertakings. Fellowship is a key component of any church. A social ministry is, therefore, an important aspect of the church and having a great team to help organize its social life is essential. There were no limits on the number of people that the Committee co-opted to join and help in this vital ministry. Every available persons possessing a variety of skill sets assisted the Committee in 2018. If you are looking for a way to get involved in church ministry, then this Committee is for you. You can choose what level of involvement you would like - hospitality, administrative, organizational, management, creativity, culinary, setting up and taking down and, especially, persons with a loving and caring heart for service. Furthermore, if you are looking to exercise your leadership abilities, then this ministry’s team will give you that chance to choose an event, which you are passionate about, to plan and execute. The Social Events Committee fulfilled its mission in 2018 providing effective social events and fellowship opportunities at Epiphany that helped to bring the congregation and the community closer together. We thank everyone for their cooperation, support and willingness to assist when called upon. Let us thank God for His guidance and pray that He would keep us unified as a loving community of faith with people sharing a common purpose and fellowship.

Anglican Church Men Report This past year can be classified as a decent year for our branch. As always is the case, there is still more that requires our time, our talents and our treasures. The following is the summary for the year: 36
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
1. Monthly Meetings: The Branch consistently maintained the Monthly Meetings – 3rd Tuesday of Each Month, and even though some new members were attracted, there is a need for the veteran members to continue to attend and participate. The meetings are very important as it allows the branch to plan events as well as to collect the much needed funds to carry out the plans. 2. Dues: The collection of the annual dues of $120 annually and $60 annually for Retirees were maintained at a similar level as last year, and we were able to pay our diocesan commitments as well as financially support various church events. We have had to continue to approach members, regarding donations for the specific events. This can be greatly reduced by the consistent collection of the annual dues. 3. Membership: This year, the branch continued to experience small growth regarding membership. There is still a need for the present members to continue to pursue and to communicate with the younger men of the church to convince them of the importance of becoming involved with the branch. This injection of members would greatly assist regarding the events and tasks around church, as well as secure the future of the branch. 4. Corporate Sunday Worship: Every First Sunday of the month continued to be The Corporate Sunday Worship. It has continued to be decently attended. With the growth of the branch membership, it could be expected to see this to continue throughout the year. 5. Diocesan & ACM Events: There continues to be a fair number of Epiphany ACM members attending the Patronal Festivals and Feast of Titles and other Diocesan Church Functions and Programs. This is an important point to stress, as a lot can be learned from other parish branch members and the various clergy that attend the after service socials. 6. Diocesan Council Meetings: The Monthly Diocesan Council Meetings (every 3rd Thursday), continued to be well attended by the branch, as I am also the Assistant Secretary. These meetings are designed to keep all of the branches on the same page regarding programs, policies, events and announcements. It is also where the branches get to share their ideas and experiences. It will be imperative for the newly elected president to always assign an executive member to represent Epiphany at these meetings. 7. The McClennon Ward at Geriatrics Hospital: The monthly visits to The Geriatrics Hospital continues to be very well accepted by the patients and the nurses. We cannot state how powerful and beneficial it has become to the men that
37
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
have participated. I thank all of you that attend these outings to make them so meaningful for the men of The McClennon Ward. 8. Sandilands Rehabilitation’s Walk, Run and Push-a-thon: The branch spearheaded the participation of The Epiphany Group that registered for The Sandilands Rehabilitation’s Walk, Run and Push-a-thon (in April). In fact, Epiphany won the prize for the most registered participants and were commended for the continued support to them. 9. Men’s Health Presentation: In March we hosted a Men’s Health Presentation, where the diocesan membership was invited to attend to learn what can be done to ensure that the men take all the precautions and know what is best to be done to live a healthier life. The presenters were our own Nurse Julian Mullings, Fr Atma Budhu and Doctor Sean Knowles, who was asked to fill in for Doctor Norad Morgan. It was well attended, approx. 50 men and all those that attended called for more of this kind of presentations in the future, throughout the diocese. 10. Saturday Exercise Walk: The ACM started a Saturday Exercise walk, that few members participated and thoroughly enjoyed. It has been suspended for a few weeks, but it is my intent to reestablish it very shortly. 11. Buddy System with ACM Holy Cross: It is very pleasing to report that a “Buddy System” was established with Holy Cross Parish and St. Anne’s Parish. Epiphany assisted Holy Cross with setting up monthly visits for the men of Culmer’s Ward at The Geriatrics Hospital. Again, Epiphany partnered with Holy Cross to donate 2 cases of steaks, each, for Sandilands Rehabilitation Center’s Annual Fair (September). Then we were able to arrange assistance from Holy Cross and St. Anne’s regarding The Annual Fair. Holy Cross boiled all the corn and St Anne’s was able to assist with the initial grilling that started from 6am the morning of The Fair. It is great to have established this relationship with these two parishes and it was well received at The Council Level. Epiphany has agreed to assist Holy Cross and St. Anne’s with their major activities moving forward. 12. General Assistance To Parish Life: We partnered and assisted The ACW, Socials and Events Committee, Lands and Buildings Committee, The Couples Ministry and all other ministries with ALL the major functions of the church. Both financially as well as offering our time to thoroughly prepare the grounds… these functions are always very costly and extremely labour intensive and moving forward there will be a real need for the younger men to come forward to assist with this part of the social calendar of events. These functions included; New Year’s Night, The Epiphany Feast of Title (Sunday, January6th, 2019)The Annual Garden Party (March),The Anniversary Event (April),Post Mother’s Day Ladies Night Celebration (May), The Back to School Jamboree (September),
38
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
Annual Parish Fair (November), The Inaugural ACM/ACW Anniversary Service (November) and The Annual Children’s Christmas Party (December). 13. ACM and ACW Anniversary Service: It is very pleasing to state that the Inaugural Joint ACM and ACW Anniversary Celebration Service occurred Sunday, November 11th, 2019. Mrs. Helen Ingraham and her ACW planning committee are to be commended for leading the planning of the service. We were able to recognize and celebrate our past presidents, Brother Joseph Hamilton (2011-2012) and Brother Cyprian Gibson (2013-2015), as well as have our first jacketing ceremony, where we jacketed two members, Brothers Dwayne Turnquest and Steven Nottage. The social that followed was well appreciated and by all indications it was a very successful event. 14. Finances: The accounting practices of the branch was maintained at an acceptable level, there is still a need to be a little more detailed, regarding record keeping, but for the most part it can be considered to be at a fairly good standard. 15. General Comments: Finally, we do not have any recollections of any branch members being lost this year. But if there were any that we have not recalled, please accept our apologies…in respect to any parish members being lost this year, as a sign of respect, please, let us grant them a moment of silence. Rest Eternal Grant them O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them… May they and all of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace… Amen. Gentlemen, the surrounding community needs the support of the church and particularly the men. With the establishment of the Christian Youth Movement (CYM), it would be good for the branch to take interest in their activities, work with them, particularly with the boys that attend the activities. As I demit office I would like to thank each one of you for your support throughout my three year tenure. I pray that great things will continue to happen for Epiphany, but it will not happen by itself. It takes prayer, work and commitment. May God continue to bless all of you and The Anglican Parish of The Epiphany. Good Evening. Your Brother in Christ,
Christian Knowles President

It should be noted that earlier in the year on 28th April, several of our Men participated in their Push-a-Thon thus further deepening our relationship. 10. ACM & ACW Joint Anniversary Service Both organizations celebrated their 8th Anniversary this year and we commemorated this by worshiping jointly in a church service on Sunday, 11th November under the theme” Disciples: Called to be Fishers of Men.“ At that service we awarded two of our esteemed past Presidents namely, Joseph Hamilton and Cyprian Gibson with commemorative plaques for their exemplary leadership. A total of $256 was spent. 11. Post-Mother’s Day Social We are now into our third edition of this glorious affair and this year we exceeded all expectations by hosting approximately 100 of our women on Friday, 18th May. As usual, the Men funded the entire function and although expenditure $945 is shown, another $1,200 of costs was expended by various members thus adding to the overall enjoyment of this event. 41

12. Annual Parish Fair We are all celebrating the smashing success of our Parish Fair held on 3rd November, 2018 and parishioners can take credit for accomplishing a new record in earnings. Our Men were involved in several key areas of production, starting with our Drinks Stall superintended by our Vice President, Wesley Rolle, who led the initiative to solicit funding and through his very capable management, a total of $1,100 was returned. A mere $139 was expended. Elite Security Services was engaged by Basil McIntosh and underwritten by him thereby giving us the confidence of a safe environment. Grounds Set-Up was led by Carl Brennen along with a small team in arranging tents; chairs and tables from Stafford “Scorpio” Evans as well as barricades from the Police Force. Lighting by Edward Fox and Anthony Outten was also an important part of our operation. Grilling Team was spearheaded by President Christian Knowles and Victor Cartwright ably assisted by several other Men of Epiphany coupled with a few ACM Members from Holy Cross and St. Anne’ s Parishes. Expenses such as charcoal; lighter fluid and other incidentals were covered by the team.

The Conference was a memorable one. Parishes throughout the length and breath of The Bahamas were represented. Epiphany A.C.W. was represented by our President and VicePresident. Our very own President Helen Ingraham was elected to serve on Council as the Assistant Secretary. We are encouraged to participant in these events, it’s a great opportunity to meet sisters from the various parishes and develop new friendship and exchange insights and ideas. Conference of the Union of Black Episcopalian Clergy - July 23rd-27th, 2018. The Opening Service held on July 23rd at Christ Church Cathedral. The A.C.W. was represented at this event and persons of the Black Episcopalian were amazed at our attire. Young Ladies Seminar held in Nassau on October 6th, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall under the theme “I am fearfully and wonderfully made #loveyourselfie.” The seminar was held in 6 family Islands. OUTREACH: We continue our Outreach Ministry at the Wiliamae Pratt School For Girls. We visit with them each first Saturday of the month. We take them food items and treats on each visit. During our annual fair the President, Helen Ingraham, Treasurer, Lo Ruhamah Seifert and Assistant Treasurer, Patricia Peterson provided dinners from the fair and treats to the girls. We gave dinners for all 22 girls which were greatly appreciated. For the December visit being the Christmas season, the girls were given gift bags and other treats. FUNDRAISING: In keeping with the mandate and our obligations to our Parish and Council, fundraisers are most important. With total commitment of members of the A.C.W. with regular dues payments and fundraisers we were able to meet our obligations to the Council for the year 2018, however there is a balance of $1.519.00 outstanding from 2013. We extend a very special thank you also to members of Epiphany who are always supportive of our events. Three events were planned for the year, mini meals April 8th, movie night June 29th and Jazz in the Gardens October 19th. Unfortunately due to the sudden passing of the President’s brother the Jazz was postponed, the other events were smashing success. SERVICE AND GIVING: It has been a tradition for the A.C.W. to host the Post Father’s Day Dinner, so this year was no exception. The dinner was held on June 22nd at 7 p.m. There was a better turn out this year but we think more men can come out. The fathers thoroughly enjoyed the food, entertainment and prizes. We look forward to an even bigger turn out next year. 45
Anglican Church Of The Epiphany - Annual Report 2018
The Annual Fair of the Church is the biggest event held every year. For the past few years the A.C.W. have been responsible for the cake and pastries stall, this year being no exception. All of the items for our stall were provided through the generous donations of our A.C.W. members and members of the church, for this we say a very special thank you. “God loves a cheerful giver” 2 Corinthians 9:6. ANNIVERSARY SERVICE: This year we planned and executed our 8th Anniversary service, jointly with the A. C.M. first one in years, held November 11th, 2018. Theme “Disciples: Called to be Fishers of Men” Matthew 4:19, Guest Preacher Rev’d Willish Nottage. GOALS: Our goals for the New Year will be to increase our membership, more outreach and visitation of our sick and shut-in. Our fundraisers must be increased to keep up with our obligations. CONCLUSION: Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Great appreciation and gratitude is extended to the officers and member of the A.C.W. for their hard work and dedication over the past year. Gratitude is also extended to our Parish Priest Father Atma Budhu for his prayers, encouragement and guidance. Special thank you to Mr. Carl Brennen and Ms. Gail Thompson who have assisted at our various functions at the Parish Hall. Also we must thank ALL members of our Parish who supported us in any way; we couldn’t have done it without you. With God’s help we will continue to do His work here on earth. We are looking forward to 2019. It was a pleasure serving for the past year. Yours in Christ,

During 2018, the ushers sought to live their ministry using the Diocesan theme of ‘Intentional Discipleship’ based on Galatians 2:20 “It is no longer I who live but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loves me and gave Himself for me.” Community Outreach The outreach program for the Usher Board for 2018 was the reading program at the Thelma Gibson Primary School. Several ushers participated in the annual Literacy Week and three ushers made weekly commitments to read at the school which they have found to be a much anticipated and rewarding part of their week. This program was extended to members of Epiphany Church, and two persons have joined with the Ushers.

Fundraising The Usher Board hosted another successful Garden Party in April 2018. A donation of five thousand dollars ($5,000) was made to the Building Fund. During the year, breakfast and bake sales were held to encourage fellowship among members of the congregation and to raise money for programs of the Usher Board. A donation of five hundred dollars ($500) was provided to the Parish Fair. Ministry On 15thJuly, the Usher Board celebrated Twenty-seven years as a ministry in the church with Solemn Evensong and Benediction. The sermon was preached by Reverend Willish Johnson who encouraged allto serve with kindness, humility and integrity. There was one resignation during the period under review but we are thankful to God for the following persons who have been with the Usher Board since inception: Alelia Adderley Stella McPhee Paula Small Eartha Hanna Evarista Mitchell Margaret Turnquest Fellowship A luncheon for members of the Usher Board, including the Junior Ushers was held in November at the British Colonial Hilton during which ushers were thanked for their work in the ministry and encouraged to become more committed to enriching the worship service and welcoming parishioners and visitors. Looking forward As the church prepares to celebrate 30 years in the Eastern Community, we hope to continue with the Diocesan theme of living a Christ centered life by deepening our relationship with the Thelma Gibson School through the reading program. We will also explore supporting the poor in the community by making regular contributions to the church pantry. In addition, we need to find ways to encourage members to attend the Corporate Service, which up to now has been quite a challenge. I wish to thank Father Budhu, all the members of the Usher Board and the congregation for their support over the past year. Because of Christ,
P. Erica Rolle President

During the past year, Epiphany’s Senior Choir continued to witness for Christ through hymns and songs of praise and worship. Choir members willingly gave of their time, talents and efforts to minister to our church’s congregation and the greater community. As has been the tradition, the choir sung the appointed psalm and offered special musical selections at the 9:30 am Sunday services and other occasions, with organ and band accompaniment. On Sunday, 29 April, 2018, the Senior Choir presented "And He Shall Reign Forever And Ever, Hallelujah!" featuring Easter-themed selections by Senior Choir, Magi Singers, Children's Choir, the Band, soloists and instrumentalists. It was a wonderful expression of the joy of music as we celebrated our risen Christ. All proceeds went towards our Church Building Fund. We are most appreciative of the time and talents of Bernice Bowe, Arlene Major, Thecla Dorsett, Juanita Munroe, Drexel Munroe, Leathe Francis, Norad Morgan and The Band; all of whom have enriched our music ministry throughout the year. We wish to encourage others, especially males, to join this vital ministry. We are eager to receive assistance with leadership and direction as our Choir Director, Mr. Montez Williams relocated off-island due to work commitments in October 2018. We remain steadfast and committed to this very special and important ministry and with God’s help, we will become a stronger choir and provide a greater witness for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The Band Report The musical milieu at the Anglican Church of The Epiphany provides the band the opportunity to engage in all genres of musical expressions for the enrichment of the worship experience. The spectrum of musical expressions ranges from the more classical/traditional Anglican tonalities to more modern genres such as jazz and calypso. We have also been blessed to have many young formally trained associate/visiting musicians who occasionally assist the band at Sunday worship, and on special occasions throughout the liturgical year. It is refreshing to see these musicians using their musical gifts/talents and musicianship for God’s glory and for the expansion of His kingdom at The Anglican Church of The Epiphany. The band, assisted by our associate musicians (listed below), consistently accompany the Senior Choir and Praise Team on special occasions like the Easter Concert and with general music at the 9:30 am Mass. The band is sometimes also invited to play at social events hosted by various organizations of the church, like the Usher Board’s Lenten Tea. By God’s grace, the band will continue to expand. We were pleased to welcome the reintroduction of Epiphany’s Praise Team, with members Alicia Rolle, Andrea Bowe, Crystal Nixon and Ruth Munroe. We are privileged to be able to worship God in varied musical idioms. Montez calls it, “Anglofusion”!!! Please pray that we will grow from strength to strength, as we continue to make a pleasing sound towards the ears and heart of God. The Magi Singers Report The Magi’s ministry for year 2018 was not as productive as we wanted it to be. Many of the members were unable to attend the many practice sessions that were called because of work commitments. This was either a result of a change in their schedules or location. It is hoped that in 2019 we will return to our mission of spreading the message of love and goodness using our musical talents through the various genres of Christian music. The Magi is committed to the Music ministry of the Church and will continue to be supportive in ensuring that our musical selections when presented will touch someone, and hopefully make a difference in their daily lives.
Michael P. Thompson Leader
The Children’s Choir Report During the year 2018, no changes were made to the choir. We continue to sing, but mostly study the Bible. The children became more confident in participating with reading during the mass, praying and much interest in Bible discussions. We were pleased to participate in the Easter Concert. We made great attempts to practice a musical presentation but encountered some setbacks and will redouble our efforts for this coming year. Our musical presentation is intended to be a fundraiser towards the construction of our church. We are always open to accept new members and encourage parents, guardians and others to ensure that their children grow up with wholesome Christian activities like singing in our choir. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless, guide and keep us.
