Here are some useful tips and tricks to help you succeed this school year.
Designate a study space: Whether it’s
used for homeschooling or homework after school, a dedicated study space helps you stay organized and focused on learning. You may be asking by now, “How do I avoid this?” I would not recommend transferring title to your heirs prior to death because this also will transfer the cost basis the profit of the item and create a tax burden for the heirs. A second option that helps avoid this is a deed on death which activates, on passing and can avoid the step up tax basis. The third option is a living trust, the cost basis is the value at time of death and therefore the heirs may have limited or no tax liability.
A typical trust is the Family Trust and can be an individual or a couple who are the Trustees and, with their children or heirs, the Beneficiaries. Those who establish the trust and transfer their property into it are known as Trustors or Settlors. A successor trustee designated by the trust creator will execute the wishes of the Trustees via a will contained in the trust. No contest clauses are placed in trusts as a caution to potential challengers. Beneficiaries under the will or trust who challenge the document lose or forfeit their inheritance under the document, this discourages would-be challengers from contesting the document.The purpose of this article is to help get you thinking and start a conversation with your family and appropriate legal counsel. Basics Facts Of Living Trusts How Do I Avoid Probate?
I have plenty of time? You never know what life has planned and a trust can give you peace of mind even though the need will be in the distant future. I believe in living trusts even for a modest estate, it’s the principal of paying the state to make a difficult period in your family lives more difficult and expensive. The probate process in California isn’t exactly complicated, but it can be expensive. The fees for Probate are based on the gross value of the assets and are a tiered rate according to the value of the estate, so if you have a house worth $500,000 but there is a $480,000 loan on the property you would owe the state $13,000 for the probate tax leaving the heirs with $7000. In addition there are attorney fees, Executor fees, filling fees, and miscellaneous court fees! The process for a probate is not quick and can easily take a year or more. If there are disputes, problems or a backed up court

The Effects Of Food And Beverages On Dental Health Even though tooth decay has remarkably reduced over 30 years it is still a silent epidemic.About 20% of children between 2 and 4 years have detectable caries and by 17 yrs of age 80% of young people have had a cavity. Diet plays an important role in a person’s pre-disposition to developing cavities. Plaque bacteria readily metabolise sugars and additives in food and drinks to produce acids that result in enamel softening or demineralisation. Frequent and excessive sugar consumption is an important factor for cavities to start. The intake of carbohydrates particularly sucrose more than four times a day or in quantities more than sixty grams per day can increase the rate of cavities. The more freqent intake of sugary snacks between meals exposes the enamel to longer periods of acid attacks leading to softer enamel. Sugar added cereals are a combination
of refined sugar and starch and are most commonly consumed breakfast items in the morning. Processed food starches in modern human diets have significant cavity producing characteristics in them. In both human and animal studies researchers found that the combination of sugar and starch led to more enamel demineralisation than did a diet of sugar alone. Children who consumed cereal with added sugar have more cavities in their teeth. Beverages such as milk and juice also have different effects on oral health. Fruit juices are considered healthy food choices, however excessive intake of or continuously sipping fruit juices can be a risk to dental health because these juices are highly acidic and they are also processed with added ingredients especially sugar which can cause erosion and caries. Fruit juices often are included as the beverage of choice in children’s meals or snack packs and are considered healthy. There are concerns regarding the high caloric and sugar contents of fruit juices which may lead to obesity thereby adversely affecting general health. Unfortunately the implications of fruit juices as a cause of dental caries usually are not emphasised. Most people have caries causing bacteria in their dental plaque. In health there tends to be low numbers of bacteria and the frequent disturbance of the biofilm during
tooth brushing and flossing will prevent demineralisation or cavitation of a tooth. When large numbers of plaque are present due to inadequate oral hygiene the number of cavity causing bacteria increases especially when the patient is undergoing orthodontic treatment. It is essential to prevent the accumulation of plaque and calculus on the teeth and around orthodontic appliances and to get the teeth evaluated every 6 months. Currently high emphasis is placed on the relationship between sugary drinks and snacks and obesity but there is a need for equal emphasis on the harmful effects of such food and drinks on oral health. Essential cornerstone to control cavities is preventive and interceptive care like getting teeth checked every 6 months for kids and watch what kids eat and drink.
