Going Once, Twice, Sold! Here it is, early October and the morning temperatures have turned mild. You’ve got to love the East County and the beautiful weather it unveils this time of year. With the farmlands being put to bed for the winter, what a great time of year to be thinking about that new car you need for your holiday travels. This month’s assignment has taken me to an old familiar business. Some time ago, I was out running errands and drove by the Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction and just pulled in out of curiosity. Fact is, I didn’t even tell my husband until I got home. This has always intrigued me and I couldn’t stand the temptation. I parked the car and followed the loud speakers announcing the next car up for auction. I had a great time and almost bought a car I didn’t need. Not too long ago, these guys moved to their current location on East Leland Drive in Pittsburg and it is bigger and better than ever. The auction generally has up to 150 vehicles up for auction and you can see them all

prior to the auction and do your research on their website. They are all smog certified and most are repos and lease returns. With over 13 years of experience, the process is so easy. There is no admission and the auction registration is only $2.00. The time I went, my auction ticket was pulled and I won a free bar-b-que. That is when I had to tell my husband where I was that afternoon. They have cars, trucks, sports utility vehicles, minivans, travel trailers and R.V.’s. You just register, get your number, grab your seat and have a great time. And if you are going to buy a vehicle, you can get pre-approved for bank financing and drive your car away that day. How cool is that? The part I like the best is when they bring in the car, beep the horn and the bidding starts. It is so fast and exciting and the deals are unbelievable. It all happens right before your eyes. Can you imagine being able to buy your next vehicle without having to deal with the salesman? What a great way to get the car you want at an incredible price. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. And the auctions are the first Saturday of every month. They have a unique guarantee which takes a lot of the guesswork out of choosing the auction for your next purchase. And they are so friendly and helpful when you come in. You can actually research what sold at the last auction and what is coming up on

I think the thing I liked most about the auction was it seemed to give everyone a chance to get the vehicle they really wanted at a price they could afford. And when the buyer wins the bid, the excitement even grows. From the loud speakers and the auctioneers calling, you can’t help but have fun. The hard part is, when you are going just for the fun of it, you really get tempted to take advantage of the great deals. So, if your are looking for your next vehicle or need to pick one up for your teenage driver, this should deﬁnitely be on your list of places to see. Who knows, maybe that little red sports car you have always wanted might be the next up for bid with no one in the audience but you bidding on her. Told you it was tempting!
